What if you were an awkward teenager and your mother was a sex therapist? That would be really embarrassing, right? That’s the premise of Sex Education, a British teen dramedy that debuted on Netflix in 2019. The show was created by British-Australian writer Laurie Nunn, who based the story on her own experiences learning about sex--both inside and outside of the classroom as a teenager. The popular series, set at Moordale Secondary School in the fictional town of Moordale, has run for two seasons, with a third season set to come out sometime in the second half of 2021.

[Philip is leaving the hall where he just received his new title and sees Elizabeth waiting for him]
Philip: I think they’d have preferred a nice, pink-faced marquis with a grouse moor in the Scottish Borders. [lights cigarette] Are you sure you wouldn’t have preferred one of those? Someone with a grand title, rather than a homeless Charlie Kraut?
Elizabeth: No, that would have all been very antiseptic. Must you really smoke? You know how I hate it.
Philip: Pity, because I love it so very much. But like a great many other things, I’m going to give it all up for you.
Elizabeth: Well, you still have 24 hours to change your mind.
Philip: You think I can change my mind after all that? No, too late. I’ve signed myself away.
Elizabeth: Or won the greatest prize on Earth.
Philip: That’s certainly what they think. [pauses to put out cigarette, kisses Elizabeth] It’s what I think, too.
