My Views on Health

With the social advancement and the improvement of living standard, people are raising higher and higher demands on dietary. However, how to cook food and eating what food in order to be healthier remain questions.
A few decades ago I found wild animals having natural raw food are better than domesticated animals fed with refined fodder in disease resistance and vitality. Moreover, their haslets also proved that the former is much healthier than the later. According to these natural phenomena, my family and I adjusted our dietary, such as eating more fresh vegetables, fruits and natural food, avoiding refined, fried and roasted food or drinks as much as possible, and we insist doing so for many years. Now all my family members and I have a good health, seldom getting sick. In view of this, hereby I would like to share some of my views and experience of modern dietary and health. My views may be weird and hard to be accepted, but my main purpose of writing this article will be reached if readers can be enlightened more or less and pay more attention to the issues of modern dietary and health, accordingly reinforcing their physical strength to be more resistant to diseases.
In ancient times when fire had not been discovered by human beings, all animals including mankind were used to eating raw food. Even now all wild animals still do so except human beings and domesticated animals. As we all know that wild animals and ancient mankind were not secured in food, clothing, shelter, transportation, no doctors or drugs, and no knowledge in how to choose nutritious food. They not only faced food shortage and the law of jungle, but also suffered from hunger and coldness in freezing winter. Regardless of the fish living in deep sea or the various wild animals in remote mountains, they have well proved that wild animals perform better in disease resistance than animals fed with refined fodders, and they, unlike modern people, seldom catch with diversified modern diseases such as cancer, high blood pressure diabetes etc.
Different from food acquisition like wild animals in ancient times, now mankind have developed a lot of modernized technologies in order to acquire more food more efficiently such as using chemical fertilizers, chemical pesticides and auxins that may conduces to yield increasing, or using refined fodders, antibiotic and hormone in large-size farms. Simply for the goal of enhancing economic profit by increasing yield or meeting some product specifications, many people have tried all means, including soaking bean sprouts in antibiotic, irrigating vegetables using industrial sewage, adding man-made protein and tripolycyanamide into mink, feeding poultries by tony red and soft-shelled turtles by contraceptive pills, forging wine using industrial alcohol and so on, all of which have been tried by people in China Mainland. All in all, economic profit is the final goal and quality is no longer important, and people always avoid eating food made by themselves. Profit overweighs conscientiousness.
My past experience has proved that pork buying from supermarket found with myoma, fish fed with fodder with abnormal haslets. In particular, the color of pig’s haslets now looks totally different from that of pigs in the past. Moreover, those chickens and ducks fed with fodders are also much inferior to the natural wild animals in terms of taste and meat quality, hard to enhance our appetite.
Over the past two decades, I also noted in the Meat Markets that wide fish from deep sea and wild animals always presented healthy haslets and meat, along with good taste. While livestock fed with fodders are usually found with unhealthier haslets, inferior meat quality and taste to those wild animals or livestock growing up outside cages in rural areas. The healthier haslets and meat quality of fish from deep sea and wild animals have proved that eating natural raw material is very important to the health of all animals, including mankind. Maybe fresh natural raw food contains more complete nutrition and best biological activity that conduce to health of animals and mankind. Moreover, such phenomenon can also be found in crops and even herbal medicines.
If you have farming experience, you must agree with that crops applied with chemical fertilizers grow faster, yet more inclined to affect diseases. Yet crops applied with natural organic fertilizers are stronger in growth and more resistant to disease.
Apparently, livestock fed with fodders and crops applied with chemical fertilizers grow faster, yet more vulnerable to diseases and vitality inferior to that of poultries growing outside cages and crops fertilized by natural organic manure. Moreover, the latter also has higher nutritional values. Therefore, the various natural plants growing in a natural environment and the wild animals eating natural food, including fish in deep sea and all kinds of marine organisms are with good disease resistance ability and strong vitality.
As a matter of fact, application of large quantity of chemical fertilizer, pesticides and auxin in crop planting, and use of refined fodders, antibiotics and hormone in breeding already result in pollution of modern food chain. Consumption of such food on long rum can damage our kidneys and livers.
By contrast, natural food growing up in natural environment, particularly those natural wide herbal medicine growing in high mountains, forests, high land rich in minerals that can absorb more natural nutrition (such as mineral), thereby showing higher nutritive values. For example, wide ginseng is much more nutritious and expensive than human-planted ones. Chinese herbal medicine can treat disease and keep health with natural ingredients that are formed in natural environment and beneficiary to our health.
Thus personally it is unreasonable that western medicine does not admit Chinese herbal medicine's effectiveness in disease treatment. Most western medicine is man-made chemical drugs, while Chinese herbal medicine is natural herbals. The former is chemical and the latter is natural, and both of them contain ingredients for disease treatment. More specifically, western medicine takes effect more quickly than Chinese herbal medicine, yet its side effect is also greater. Natural herbal medicine contains balanced and multiple ingredients instead of a simple one, accordingly showing much smaller side effect than western medicine. What's more, some natural herbal medicine can be effective in healthy caring.
Though herbal medicine can cure disease, it is a different story if the herbal physicians are able to make a definite diagnosis or prescribe correct medicines. Even for patients getting the same disease, giving different pathogens, one prescription effective for one patient may be ineffective for another.
For example, many years ago a story about a young leukemia patient was reported. After seeking for doctors' advices almost everywhere, his disease could not be cured. Later, a Physician Mr. Long cured him by herbal medicine. Thus people exaggerated and dramatized the Physician as a miracle-working doctor. The truth may not necessarily turn out that way. Mr. Long cured the patient with herbal medicine possibly because the herbal contained certain nutrient that the patient lacked, while lacking such nutrient resulted in his disease. After the patient taking the herbal medicine, the lacked nutrient was supplemented, and diseased cured. Nevertheless, other leukemia patients may not necessarily cured by Mr. Long due to different pathogens if using the same herbal medicine.
Obviously treating disease by herbal medicine is highly uncertain, exactly because of this, I do not trust any secret prescription handed down from ancestors. I insist that instead of persistently pursuing secret prescription traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) should be studied scientifically from perspectives of biology, chemistry and physiology etc. Only by scientization of TCM, can it make greater contribution to human beings. To blindly trust the TCM theories developed in ancient times may even dim its future development.
Though TCM features many uncertainties in treatment, drinking more ordinary herbal tea can indeed make us healthier and more resistant to disease. For example, every week or two we can cook at least once Wuhua Herbal Tea (five flowers mixing together, including chrysanthemum, honeysuckle, flower of kudzuvine, sophora japonica, kapok) or Qixing Herbal Tea (seven herbal medicines mixing together) These teas are available in the market with package. Herbal physicians usually recommend to cook one pack every time, but my personal experience is one pack can be cooked 5 or 6 times with a large jar of water to dilute the concentration, so that the tea can be drunk as waster all day long. Doing so can acquire some good natural mineral and nutrients from the herbal tea, accordingly reaching the goal of health care and disease resisting. The cooking time is preferred to be 6-7 minutes rather than too long, because cooking too long may make the nutrients damaged or evaporated. Of course, the herbal tea can be re-cooked sometimes.
Every week or two, people can buy some high-quality sea-tents and sea food for soup cooking, cooking time 5-6 minutes preferred after boiled because over long cooking time may get the good nutrients damaged or evaporated too.
Wuhua and Qixing Herbal Tea and sea-tent are my favorite for heath care. Those non-natural drinks such as soft drink and alcohol should be avoided because chemical agents, preservatives and pigments are not good for our health.
In order to balance the nutrients and ingredients, I recommend drinking Lop Nor tea from drink tea from Xinjiang Highland. It is green tea with less processing, thereby preserving more natural nutrients. Pu'er Tea is processed by fermentation, so not recommended to drink frequently.
Distilled water is pure water, yet natural water may contain a variety of minerals and nutrients. Drinking distilled water cannot supplement any mineral or helpful nutrients to our bodies, but oppositely consume and take away some useful nutrients that are already deficient in our body. If comparing our body to a bottle of nutritious water, then distilled water is pure water without any nutrients. Drinking it over a long term can even dilute that bottle of nutritious water. Obviously distilled water is though clean, it is not good for our health, even not as good as the tap water. Natural water from the Nature is much better. Unfortunately now it is hard to find such water in modern cities. As for the tap water, it is polluted by upstream industry and agriculture, additionally added with chemical materials such as chlorine for sterilization.
When hiking to a mountain and seeing clear river water, I always drink as much as I can unhesitatingly. Some people may argue that doing so may possibly suffer bacteria or virus affection. At this point I do not intent to encourage all people to drink natural water. But I want to state m view that some bacteria and virus are not horrible at all. In fact, no matter how hard you try to sterilize, bacteria and virus exist everywhere in your clothes, your wallets, or the air flow from the air conditioner in your work studio... After frequent contact with bacteria and virus, our immune system will be enhanced, just like the truth that without going to the water how you can learn swimming.
As a matter of fact, in the rural area it is normal that villagers drink natural water. Some animals even drink household sewage that is much dirtier. Rural people in mountainous area though live a poorer life than us, they are less possible to affect diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease etc. possibly because they eat and drink natural food instead of the diversified TG food and fruits taken by people in large cities.
Some people may think natural raw food is not good for digestion and absorption by human bodies without refined processing, which may even result in gastro-intestinal tract disease. Is this true? Not really. Oppositely people used to refined food are more apt to such diseases. Natural food such as sweet potatoes and taros without undergoing refining processing can provide not only multiple microelements to human bodies, but also fibers in shortage of in human bodies, thereby conducing to prevention of constipation, gastro-intestinal tract diseases and cancers. Thus it is wrong that people with gastro-intestinal tract diseases should eat refined and easily-digested /absorbed food.
For instance, cows are herbivorous. Their intestines and stomachs are capable of digesting and absorbing raw and hard weeds of high fiber content. If carrying out an experiment to feed a cow with easily-digested food such as refined milk powder, grain powder or instant noodles instead of weeds, then after the cow grows up, will it be able to digest and absorb weeds like other cows rowing up n a natural environment? Apparently not. This has proved that animal and human beings' functions are varying with environments, and exercised in adverse situations. Similarly, athletes who do not train themselves can hardly achieve major accomplishments. That People with gastro-intestinal tract diseases should eat refined and easily-digested /absorbed food is in fact a negative and non-progressive view.
Natural food such as sweet potatoes and taros without undergoing refining processing can provide not only multiple microelements to human bodies, but also fibers in shortage of in human bodies, thereby conducing to prevention of constipation, gastro-intestinal tract diseases and cancers. Natural food does not require adding any salt and spices, consequently helpful to release people from high salt-content dietary.
As for meat, marine fish is recommended. Regardless of its size and price, all marine fish is just fine, this because marine fish grows in the vast ocean and eats only natural food. Thus marine fish is richer in nutrients and more tasteful. In addition, beef and mutton are also recommended as goats and cows are herbivorous, taking in less refined fodders and auxins. So compared to pork, ducks and chickens fed by fodders, beef and mutton is more preferred. Feeding pigs, chickens, ducks and fish with chemical fodders can greatly shorten their growth periods. Try to think: will such fast-growing poultries remain ideal food for us?
Speaking of diabetes, some people insist that diabetes patients should eat less sweet food, including sweet fresh fruits. As far as I know, in reality some diabetes patients refuse and dare not to take in any sweet food, regardless of fresh fruits or nutritious natural honey. It is true that they should avoid eating subsidiary foodstuff such as cakes, soft drinks and pancakes etc. Yet fresh natural food such as fruits and natural honey will not take any negative influences on them, but rather conduce to health care and diabetes treatment.
One of my colleagues got high blood pressure and diameters in his 60s. Despite taking in medicine prescribed by his doctor timely, he felt dizzy and chest distress after a whole days' working, so he came to me to seek for my advice on what he should eat. I advised him to have two large pitaya instead of instant noodles and breads during afternoon tea. He followed my advice and later told me my advise worked, he seldom felt dizzy or chest distress. I gave him more advises: after back home, taking more fresh vegetables and fruits, particularly cantaloupes from Xinjiang, Chinese royal pears, bergamot pears and watermelon produced by Ningxia, next cooking Wuhua and Qixing Herbal tea or sea-tent soup, all of which can prevent high blood pressure and diabetes to some extent.
Therefore, diabetes patients should eat more natural fresh food, including sweet natural food such as fresh fruits and honey, because these will not take any negative influences on them, but rather conduce to health care and diabetes treatment. At the same time, patients with high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease should avoid taking in fried, roasted and refined food and drinks. Moreover, try to cook food personally rather than going to restaurants. Eating more natural food and less fried or toasted food or drinks cannot only be helpful to treatment of high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease, but also conduce to prevent healthy people from getting sick.
Insisting this principle, my family and I keep a good health over those years. Sometimes we may catch a fever or cold, but we seldom go to see a doctor. We fully realize that western medicine and antibiotics should be taken as few as possible, or otherwise drug resistance and side effect can occur in our body. For this reason, we always went to the medicine stores in Shenzhen to get some Chinese patent medicine in stock in case of need. Compound Paracetamol and Creat Tablets and Vitamin C Yinqiao Tablets that are produced in Guangzhou are the best medicine for curing fever or coldness. Whenever we feel sick, we would take them. Usually the curing effect can be reached immediately after taking. It is recommended to take 5-6 tablets of Compound Paracetamol and Creat and 2-3 tablets of Compound Paracetamol and Creat (this is a semi-Chinese patent medicine) in fact. Every year to reserve two bottles of Yinqiao with 12 tablets in each bottle and one bottle of Compound Paracetamol with 100 tablets will be enough. Total price for buyingthese medicines will not exceed HKD10: CNY2.5 for Compound Paracetamol and CNY1.5 for Yinqiao, yet this is the medicine expense of my whole family every year. In fact, we usually use a small part of these medicines bought at a price less than HKD10.
As we all know, in the modern society food is diversified and varied, including canned food, instant noodles, candies, biscuits, fried potatoes, soft drinks and so on that are refined and processed, and numerous fried and roasted cuisines with alluring smell, odor and taste in restaurants. Pursuit of diversified and tasteful food cannot be criticized, but we never recommend ignoring the nutrition and health in the pursuit process in view of the fact that a variety of modern diseases were generated. If a person unable to read is called illiteracy, then people pursuing food diversity, color, aroma and taste with the price of health would be blind in dietary.
China, populated with over 1.3 billion people in total, was reported that over 200 million people affect with modern disease such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease etc. In Hong Kong patients with these diseases are getting younger and younger, and some youngest patients may be kids. In addition, other potential modern diseases showing no symptom presently are out of count.
