◎Words from the Author
《Dinosaur Girl, a canvas filled with courage and dreams》has been in the works for over two years. Every word in this book was written as waves of tears overflowed, as I tried to sort through emotions and memories of my time with Chi-Chi. I transformed my sadness into words and used drawings to capture the everyday moments we shared. I wrote down every bit of the ten years we spent together, and this journey of love became the strength that allows her dad and me to keep moving forward. Love hasn’t disappeared; it’s just changed form, and it’s still here with us.
Through this picture book, we hope to share Chi Chi’s life story—her courage in facing life, her fearlessness in the face of challenges, and her determination to shine brightly. We hope that her story brings courage and strength to other children and families who are walking through the valleys of life. May every child overcome the difficulties before them, spread their wings, and shine their brightest light.
We especially hope that everyone, both children and adults, who reads this picture book will extend hands of love, embracing those who are different from us. They are truly giving their all to grow and overcome the challenges life presents them. A simple smile or a small act of kindness can be the greatest encouragement for them. Throughout my work creating the illustrations, I was fortunate enough to see Chi-Chi’s original drawings, filled with her incredible creativity. It was deeply inspiring! I am truly honored to be able to use my art to depict her touching life story, written with "courage." It feels as if we, two people who are from different times and places but both love to draw, have been connected through this project. If this book can give its readers the courage to keep moving forward, that would be the most wonderful thing!
