內容簡介
An intimate atlas of an American family, mapped across three centuries. A meticulous record of kin. The Hamlin Family: A Genealogy of Capt Giles Hamlin of Middletown, Connecticut 1654-1900 gathers careful lineage and local history into a single, readable account. Beginning with the earliest New England settlers, this genealogy family history book traces the Hamlin family lineage and the descendants of Giles Hamlin through successive generations, offering both the factual backbone demanded by family tree research and the regional context that explains why families moved, married and prospered in colonial era Connecticut. The narrative voice remains concise and direct, making the book useful to casual readers exploring early American ancestors while also serving the needs of serious researchers. Valued as an American genealogy guide and a historical reference collection, the book functions as an ancestry research resource for local historians, libraries and practising genealogists. Names, dates and kinship links are presented with clarity so that 17th century genealogy projects and wider studies of Connecticut colonial families can be pursued with confidence; the material illuminates migration patterns among New England settlers and the social fabric of colonial era communities. Where narrative helps, brief biographical detail connects individuals to place and time without sacrificing the methodical logic needed for family tree research. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure. Perfect for classic-literature collectors, regional-history shelves and anyone drawn to the detective work of ancestry, this edition honours the original while making it effortless to consult and to treasure. An organised presentation and judicious annotation ease reference, helping family historians assemble lineage charts and researchers situate individuals within community life. As both a practical ancestry research resource and a readable account of place, the book bridges scholarly need and public curiosity. For anyone following the branches of the Hamlin family or charting the wider story of New England settlement, this edition is a lasting companion.
