The story begins with the twins tearing downstairs, full of excitement about their upcoming school trip to the local museum. Their happiness soon vanishes, however, when their over-excitement leads to their breaking the rules and smashing a valuable vase. They know they are in big trouble and it will get a lot worse if Mom and Dad find out!
As most young children would be tempted to do, Anthony and Mia decide that the best course of action is to hide their mistake from Mom and Dad. The truth comes out in the end, though, as it always does and - much to the twins' surprise - that's when things start to get a lot better; not worse.
Through the trials and tribulations of a typical day, the twins come to realize that Mom and Dad, their sisters and their older brother are always there for them, no matter what happens. They may get told off by their parents now and then and there aren't many their siblings who don't quarrel occasionally but, when it comes to the crunch, families surround each other with love and make each other's world a richer, safer and happier place to be.
"You see," said Mom. "We talk, and we help each other, and we are always,
always there for each other."
Most importantly, by the end of the story, the twins have learned that happy families don't just happen. It can be easy to take the people we see every day for granted but, with a little effort and understanding, even the smallest members of the team have so much to offer. The twins learn that a simple thank you to Grandma can turn her day into something special; that a smile can heal a hurt; and that sharing a problem can shrink it right down.
Our Very Special Family presents the reader with another charming story in The Hidden Treasures series. Once again, the reader will be enchanted by following the adventures of our two loveable young friends. This delightful tale will show the reader just how wonderful it is to be part of a loving family. They will also see that they are an important part of their family and that they can bring happiness to those around them by showing their love in simple, everyday ways and learning to trust the people they share their lives with.
