L.C. Rusch's path to becoming a historical fiction author began with childhood adventures sparked by her grandfather's storytelling and flourished through the freedom of homeschool education. Her early exposure to historical sites and interactive history laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong passion for bringing America's past to life. With an undergraduate degree in history and years of intensive research experience, Rusch brings both academic rigor and storytelling flair to her work. Her unique educational background-combining homeschool's creative freedom with formal academic training-gives her a distinctive perspective on making history accessible and exciting for young readers. Observing the growing disconnect between students and their historical heritage during her college years, Rusch conceived the I'm American series as a bridge between dry textbook facts and engaging historical narratives. Her mission is to ignite in young readers the same passion for history that her grandfather once sparked in her. When not researching or writing, Rusch maintains her connection to historical crafts through sewing, while staying close to the family whose support made the I'm American series possible. She continues to expand the series, ensuring that voices from all corners of American history have their stories told.
