It is governed by a set of rules or customs. Activities such as card games and board games are classified as "mind sports" and some are recognized as Olympic sports, requiring primary mental skills as well as mental and physical involvement. Noncompetitive activities, for example jogging or playing catch are usually classified as forms of recreation. Physical events such as scoring goals or crossing a line first often define the result of a sport. However, the degree of skill and performance in some sports such as diving, dressage and figure skating is judged according to well-defined criteria. This is in contrast with other judged activities such as beauty pageants and body building, where skill does not have to be shown and the criteria are not as well defined. It is a fact that games and sports have become very important for a successful life. Modern life demands a high level of participation in Games and other physical activities. These enable us to keep fit and relaxed. They also give us joy and a sense of fulfillment. Man needs to participate in physical activities in order to maintain good health. It is natural and inborn quality of a child to participate in such activities as running, jumping and throwing.A game is a structured activity, usually undertaken for enjoyment and sometimes used as a competitive tool. Games are distinct from work, which is usually carried out for remuneration and from art, which is more concerned with the expression of ideas. A game can also be distinguished from the play which is usually unstructured and a playfield game, which requires a strong physical and mental concentration and is undertaken alone. This book is based on a study that has taken into consideration of court game that is Handball and Basketball. Court game is unique in the sense, that they are playing in a relatively small area and involve the handling of a ball or similar object and often an implement. It requires a high degree of running, maneuverability and total body agility in order to gain good court position and compete with one's opponent on both offensive and defensive maneuvers. Fast starting, stumping, stopping, dodging and acceleration is the fundamental requirements to a good court play. Since court games often involve conditions during bouts of play at a vigorous rate, a high level of anaerobic endurance and also good jumping ability is of great importance.The primary objectives covered in the book are:, 1. To study the influence of Physical, Physiological, Anthropometrical and Skill Performance variables in relation to playing ability of Handball players.2. To study the influence of Physical, Physiological, Anthropometrical and Skill Performance variables in relation to playing ability of Basketball players.3. To identify the predominant variables among the Physical, Physiological, Anthropometrical and Skill Performance variables in relation to the playing ability of both Handball and Basketball.4. To find out the significant difference of selected dependent variable on Handball and Basketball Players irrespective of level of achievement.
