Here are some of the terms that have been used and their definitions: Woke: Refers to a perceived awareness of social and political injustices. Often used in the context of 'wokeness', this term represents the vigilance towards prejudice, discrimination, and the sociopolitical movements that combat them. Bloke: A British term referring to a man, often in the most ordinary or traditional sense. In this book, it represents an individual who embodies conventional masculine virtues and values, as opposed to the progressive ideologies associated with being "woke." Virtue Signalling: The act of expressing opinions or sentiments that demonstrate one's good character or moral correctness on a particular issue. It is often used pejoratively to accuse others of promoting social justice issues for the sake of enhancing their own reputation. Cancel Culture: A modern form of ostracism where someone is thrust out of social or professional circles, either online, in the real world, or both. The "canceling" occurs after some revelation, often a social media post, in which the individual in question has violated a societal norm or expectation, particularly in a politically incorrect manner. Microaggression: A term used for brief and commonplace daily verbal, behavioral, or environmental indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative prejudicial slights and insults toward any group, particularly culturally marginalized groups. Intersectionality: The interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, and gender, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage. Political Correctness: The avoidance of forms of expression or action that exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against. Identity Politics: Political positions based on the interests and perspectives of social groups with which people identify. Identity politics includes the ways in which people's politics are shaped by aspects of their identity through loosely correlated social organizations. Echo Chamber: An environment in which a person only encounters information or opinions that reflect and reinforce their own. Gender Binary: The classification of gender into two distinct, opposite forms of masculine and feminine, whether by social system or cultural belief.
