More Than Money: A Study of the Spiritual Practice of Generosity This study guide is unique. Most short-term study books about generosity are designed for stewardship campaigns. But this book is designed to be studied before the pledge cards are filled out. It lays the foundation for a generous lifestyle. The cornerstone of stewardship is the discipleship, and "More than Money" helps the reader understand and develop generosity as a spiritual practice. Based on the research of Christian Smith and Hilary Davidson in their book "The Paradox of Generosity," this five-part study begins with the practices of a generous lifestyle and leads the reader to a generous worldview: * emotional generosity; * timely generosity; * financial generosity; * the generous church, and * the generous God. Each session includes research, biblical reflection, and practical suggestions for making generosity a part of your spiritual practices. The North Church study guides are ideal for both individual and small-group use, and as companion guides to sermon series. Each study guide includes background information and questions for personal reflection and small-group discussions. And all of the studies have been "road tested" with a real congregation - North United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
