內容簡介
Kassondra Rockswell moved to Atlanta, GA with her young daughter in 2008 to further pursue her career as a vocal artist. Thinking it would provide some steady income while she advanced her craft, she stumbled into the restaurant industry as a server. She immediately noticed some disturbing consistencies among the black diners. Most of them were extremely difficult to serve, and many did not care at all about tipping properly. Trying to understand this kept Rockswell awake at night. She began venting her frustrations on napkins and scraps of paper at work, which transitioned into journaling about it at home...which evolved into this amazing book. Rockswell's got the audacity to tell Black folks that, not only are they not tipping properly when they dine out, they are also exhibiting completely unacceptable behavior in restaurants.
With courage and literary finesse, Rockswell examines how the institutions of slavery and sharecropping helped to create today's restaurant tipping system and how all this is connected to the controversial tipping habits of American Blacks.
Weaving her reader through hilariously true tales of uninformed diners and famous celebrities with abusive behavior, Rockswell gracefully intersects fair wage, racial discrimination and sexual harassment with laughter, hope and promise.
