Dissonance

She ran from her past and straight into the arms of the man who never stopped hunting her.

I crossed an ocean to feel something-anything-again.

To drown in the chaos of a rock music festival, to forget the emptiness gnawing at my insides ever since my husband's death.

I wasn't looking for redemption. I wasn't looking for anything that could tie me back to the life I left behind.

But then, I saw him.

The masked frontman of S.I.N.- the man who's voice could bring gods to their knees, whose presence haunted me in the darkest corners of my mind.

A man whose eyes once burned me alive.

Eight years ago, I lost him in a crowd-just a flash of inked skin, a flicker of a gaze that branded me.

Now he's here, on stage, singing like sin itself, and when his eyes find me in the crowd, I know.

He remembers.

And now? He's everywhere. Watching. Waiting. Hunting.

I should run.

I should walk away before it's too late.

But I was never good at doing what I'm told.

Eight years. That's how long I've lived with her name stitched into the silence, with her face burned into the inside of my skull.

And now, she's here. Real. Raw. Dangerous.

I spent years burying myself in music, building an empire from the ashes of her absence.

But the second I see her again-Red hair, blue eyes, reckless fire in her veins-

All the demons inside me claw their way out.

She doesn't know I named the band after her. She doesn't know I never stopped hunting.

She thinks I'm the one who'll destroy her.

But it's the truth she's hiding that could burn us both to the ground.

And when the past finally comes for her,

I'll stand in the wreckage daring the world to try and take her from me again.
