Even experienced enthusiasts may find it helpful to consult a few of these entries (unless, of course, you are already botanically qualified). This approach prepares you - especially if you are just starting out and plan to expand your collection - for the time when you decide to become more involved with the carnivorous plant community and its societies. That way, you will already have a solid grasp of these terms and can choose whether you wish to use them yourself.

About the Author

From a young age Dirk's passion for plants, cultivating many different types and desire to acquire a deeper understanding of them led to his focus on carnivorous plants, at a time they were not widely known about and not greatly understood. Although he does not hold formal horticultural qualifications, his background in report writing, project work, teaching and years of hands-on experience in growing and photographing carnivorous plants has provided him with the skills and ability to write this book.
