內容簡介
"Unbroken" is an anthology written by women who have experienced domestic violence physically, emotionally, and verbally. As women, we already carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. We navigate through life wearing fake smiles and giving fake hugs. Masking the overwhelm of hurt that is inside. Women in toxic relationships often feel lonely in their feelings.
The abuser takes away their voice and causes them to be alienated from their family and friends. They are also silenced from speaking due to shame and fear. People don't understand why women stay in these situations. Outsiders tend to give unsolicited advice such as, "If I were you, I would just leave." Leaving is not so simple when children and finances are involved.
"Unbroken" dives into several women's lives, sharing their stories about possessive partners, feeling unworthy, low self-esteem, and how these situations turned their lives upside down. Statistics show that nearly three in ten women experience some form of domestic violence. It also states that it takes a woman nine times to actually leave the situation for good.
Which equates that more of our sisters are going through it and not speaking out about it. Some women don't get to live to tell their stories. The women apart of this anthology are not only speaking out, but they are also speaking up about how their situations were turned around. We hope to inspire women who have found themselves in this situation, and women who have not experienced it to understand it.
"Unbroken" will inspire you not to let your past circumstances dictate your present situation. This book was written with love and transparency. It gives a look into the lives of these women and how they overcame these incidences that could have been detrimental to them. "Unbroken" shows what was meant to break you, can shape you into the person God always wanted you to be. We hope to shine a light on the women who are suffering in silence. Let's be a voice for women who feel they don't have one.
