Though little is known about his life, al-Zarnūjī's legacy rests primarily on his treatise Taʿlīm al-Mutaʿallim Ṭarīq al-Taʿallum. These include the merits and purpose of knowledge, the importance of intention, selecting a teacher and companions, respect for knowledge, perseverance, and the spiritual dimensions of learning such as sincerity, humility, and trust in Allah (tawakkul).
