This collection of short stories by Chris Armstrong - some very short and one almost the length of a novella - was written during the latter half of 2020 while he was locked down in front of his computer during Covid! And there are only so many poems a man can write! Several of the stories make oblique reference to the Covid 'plague' but other tales are a reflection of the author's earlier life, a half-dozen of them going all the way back to his time at sea! Regular readers - of both his poems and his fiction - may notice a tendency to link themes to the sea! And if not the sea, then the horizon! The sea is always there! Chris Armstrong has had three careers, working as a merchant seaman and navigator, a farmhand on the farm where he still lives in the mountains of mid-Wales, and as an information scientist before retiring to become a poet and writer. He has one longer collection of poems in print, Mostly Welsh (Y Lolfa, 2019) and a recent chapbook, Book of the Spirit (Curated Lines, 2022). Although initially entirely focussed on poetry, he moved on to short stories while his first full length work of fiction, The Dark Trilogy (Austin Macauley, 2022) was being published. A further collection of his poetry will be published later in 2023 and he is working on a further novel. He has been published, for example in Storgy, Agenda and London Grip New Poetry. The analyses investigated and focused on two phonological aspects "stress and syllable", because knowing the placement of stress on compound nous is important since it can cause a change in meaning. The analyses showed different types of compound nouns that belong to categories. It was also found that most compound nouns had primary stress. Secondary stress was also found in compounds that had two or three syllables. Most compound nouns were either disyllabic which were the most frequently used, or polysyllabic that had secondary stress. The types of compound nouns appeared in the data were (N-N compound, Adj.-N compound, N-Pre. compound, Pre-N compound, x-man compound, and V-N compound). While approaches of this kind may have its merits in detecting general trends, they often miss to address differences in the quality of these references because they largely ignore the context in which they are made, thus, diminishing their explanatory value for cultural characteristics. The objective of this paper is three-fold: Firstly, it aims to reveal the broad spectrum of death depictions in Tupac's music. Secondly, it intends to create appreciation for the frequent thoughtful depiction he shows, as well as to raise sympathy even for seemingly careless expressions of death by trying to explain the subconscious rational behind it. This will be especially useful for readers not familiar with rap in its original cultural context. Thirdly, it will place these depictions in the broader context of American culture, thereby, revealing a continuity with political, social and cultural developments in American society at large, and African-American culture in particular. The argument will be made that rather than being an example of a counter-culture that is breaking with society's values, Tupac's gangsta raps can also be considered a direct product of mainstream culture. After the historical background that shaped the environment Tupac grew up in is explored in chapter two, the third chapter will introduce three categories which can be used to systematize references of death in his songs. Joseph Conrad's second book, An Outcast of the Islands, which was released in 1896, was influenced by the mate-ship experience Conrad had on the steamship Vidar. The plot of the book centers on Peter Willems, a dishonest and unscrupulous character who, fleeing a scandal in Makassar, seeks refuge in a secret native hamlet but betrays his sponsors out of a passion for the tribal chief's daughter. Along with other characters from previous novels, Tom Lingard, a recurring figure in the plot, also appears in Almayer's Folly (1895) and The Rescue (1920). Many people think it is an unappreciated piece of literature. In a similar manner to his Heart of Darkness, Conrad romanticizes the jungle and its inhabitants. Outcast of the Islands, directed by Carol Reed in 1951, was based on this book. Trevor Howard played Willems, Ralph Richardson played Lingard, Robert Morley played Robert, and Wendy Hiller played Wendy. The Hollow Men by T. S. Eliot contains a statement from the novel that reads, "Life is very long."

Pygmalion's audiences in 1914 were both enthralled and scandalized by it. In addition to being a razor-sharp critique of the British class system and a declaration of Shaw's feminist beliefs, this fantastically funny retelling of the traditional story of the sculptor who falls in love with his ideal female statue. My Fair Lady, the musical version of one of Bernard Shaw's most well-known plays ''Pygmalion'', was a great sensation both on Broadway and in London and New York. An updated and extensively revised version of the Pygmalion and Galatea myth from ancient Greece, the 20th-century fable pokes fun at the antiquated British class system. In Shaw's skillful adaptation, Professor Henry Higgins, a linguist, accepts a bet that he can transform a clumsy cockney flower seller into an educated young woman by merely teaching her better speech and manners. While convincing society that his construct is a mysterious royal figure, the professor also falls in love with his attractive invention. Pygmalion, one of the most well-known comedies in the English language, blends Shaw's witty dialogue and great playwriting skills with the alluring idea of the developing butterfly. It continues to be regularly performed and forms the basis of college theater programs.

Odette Rider is fired by Thornton Lyne for turning down his favours. Investigator Jack Tarling, who had been working in China and had just returned to London, went to the store to talk about the situation when his cousin Thorton Lyne's cashier Milburgh embezzled money from his firm. Out of annoyance with Odette rather than anybody else, Lyne decides to attempt to blame the theft on her. Odette wins Tarling over without delay. When Lyne is found dead in the park with one of Odette's nightgowns wrapped over his gunshot wound, it doesn't seem good for her. But Tarling is adamant about proving her innocence. Milburgh is repulsive, and Lyne hisses. Although she may be gorgeous, they don't really know one another well enough to talk about love. Ling Chu is evasive and not fully trustworthy. The text is colourless and serves just to forward the story.
