Skrean Time
Eugene Van Meyer has trudged through life under the weight of poor self-esteem and a willingness to accept less than he deserves. Now he is in a position of power and responsibility for which he previously could only dream about, but with it comes a significant caveat: working for the nefarious and emotionally abusive Hamelton Skrean. Skrean has put Eugene in charge of a time-traveling technology with orders to find William J. Allerspan. Allerspan, one of the nation's first governors of color, disappeared without a trace forty years ago as he considered making another run for the state's highest office. And what of one Clancy Wigwort, the man who developed the theoretical basis for time visitation? What connection does he have to Skrean? Eugene makes it his mission to find out the truth. It is the assignment of a lifetime, yet his boss's obvious need for information, power and fame conflicts with Eugene's ethics. Plus, the longer he is able to drag out his assignment, the longer he can interact with the beautiful Cidally Short, his secret crush to the nth degree. Ultimately, Eugene has decisions to make. Does he complete his mission or defy his authoritarian employer? Does he let the cycle of time play itself out or use the technology to rewind and replay time? His decisions will impact more than just his own destiny.

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West 女巫前傳
The #1 New York Times bestseller and basis for the Tony-winning hit musical, and smash hit movie series starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana GrandeWith millions of copies in print around the world, Gregory Maguire's Wicked is established not only as a commentary on our time but as a novel to revisit for years to come. Wicked relishes the inspired inventions of L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, while playing sleight of hand with our collective memories of the 1939 MGM film starring Margaret Hamilton (and Judy Garland). In this fast-paced, fantastically real, and supremely entertaining novel, Maguire has populated the largely unknown world of Oz with the power of his own imagination. Years before Dorothy and her dog crash-land, another little girl makes her presence known in Oz. This girl, Elphaba, is born with emerald-green skin--no easy burden in a land as mean and poor as Oz, where superstition and magic are not strong enough to explain or overcome the natural disasters of flood and famine. Still, Elphaba is smart, and by the time she enters Shiz University, she becomes a member of a charmed circle of Oz's most promising young citizens. But Elphaba's Oz is no utopia. The Wizard's secret police are everywhere. Animals--those creatures with voices, souls, and minds--are threatened with exile. Young Elphaba, green and wild and misunderstood, is determined to protect the Animals--even if it means combating the mysterious Wizard, even if it means risking her single chance at romance. Ever wiser in guilt and sorrow, she can find herself grateful when the world declares her a witch. And she can even make herself glad for that young girl from Kansas. Recognized as an iconoclastic tour de force on its initial publication, the novel has inspired the blockbuster musical of the same name--one of the longest-running plays in Broadway history. Popular, indeed. But while the novel's distant cousins hail from the traditions of magical realism, mythopoeic fantasy, and sprawling nineteenth-century sagas of moral urgency, Maguire's Wicked is as unique as its green-skinned witch.
Glinda
In the fractured kingdom of Oz, "goodness" is an illusion, power belongs to the persuasive, and one choice can shape a destiny. Born into privilege but tainted by scandal, Glinda Fairmoor's life changes forever when she defies tradition by choosing a forbidden Pink gem at her Moonshine Coronation--the same once chosen by Seraphina, the Forsaken Witch of legend.Branded an outcast, Glinda navigates the brutal world of SilverCrest Academy, forging an unlikely bond with Ominson and a tense sisterhood with Gisella, the prophesied saviour of Oz. But behind Oz's shimmering facade lies a darker truth: her father, Dainhurst, leads a campaign to destroy magic under the guise of prophecy.Forced into uneasy alliance with the manipulative Wizard of Oz, Glinda is drawn into a web of lies, betrayal, and loss--including the transformation of her closest friend, Zelphira, into the Wicked Witch of the West. As Dorothy Gale's arrival threatens to unravel everything, Glinda must confront her complicity and reclaim her stolen power.GLINDA: The GOOD Witch is a powerful reimagining of Oz--where legends are shaped by survivors, and the price of legacy is never paid in gold.

Something inside was going to have its way with him. Fighting would only make it worse. This particular memory hadn't demanded his attention for so long. Until tonight, he'd dared hope he was done with this one.The odd solitude of an overnight flight was preferable to a huge family gathering for this sort of ordeal, and certainly better than the twisted filter of his nightmares. At least while he was awake, he knew the worst night of his life was when he'd at last started to take control and change the course he was on.His dreaming life gave him no such relief.

Ancient British Folklore Reimagined
Ancient British Folklore Reimagined in VerseStep into the world of the Fabled Gable, where Roman Britain's waning empire collides with myth, magic, and the timeless folklore of Britain. The Hollow Vale weaves lyrical poetry with Arthurian echoes, Cornish legends, and the sacred landscapes of Somerset and the West Country-spanning misty hills, sacred rivers, and ancient sites such as Stonehenge and Glastonbury Tor. Here, ancestral spirits stir, forgotten gods whisper, and old roads and standing stones become the stage for stories of memory, wonder, and enchantment. This collection, part of a five-volume Fabled Gable series, explores the journey of Caelwyn, the Bellbearer, whose dreams awaken the Deep Wyrd, the primeval current of magic that binds the land. From ritualised verse and the imagined Tharionese language to seasonal tales and haunting myths, these poems trace the fragile threads between history and imagination, loss and remembrance. Wander mist-shrouded moors, hear the toll of invisible bells, and encounter legendary creatures in a Britain that is as magical as it is eternal.

The Ordeal of Lancelot Biggs
Well, like it says in the old adage, "Things equal to the same thing gather no moss." When the Corporation that under-pays us snatched the Saturn off the freight shuttle and turned it into a trouble-shooter for special assignments, we thought we were getting a break. Huh! We were. "Break" is just another word for "bust." The result of our alleged "promotion" was that for a fractional increase in salary we worked twice as hard at jobs ten times nastier than any we had ever tackled before. Like for instance the night Cap Hanson and I-I'm Bert Donovan, bug-pounder of the Saturn-were at the home of Lt. and Mrs. Lancelot Biggs. Biggs is, of course, the First Mate of our void-mangling jalopy. A year ago he married the skipper's daughter, Diane. We were sitting around, chatting about this and that and the other inconsequential truffle, trying to look calmer than we actually felt, when the telephon
Lancelot Biggs, Master Navigator
Everything happens to me. We finished taking on cargo at 13:10, Solar Constant Time, and I went to my turret for firing orders from the Sun City spacedrome officer. I plugged in the audio and stared into the familiar pan of Commander Allonby. I said, "Freight lugger Saturn preparing to up gravs, Commander. Standing by for the O.Q." His jaw dropped like a barometer in a cyclone. He gasped, "You, Sparks? And the Saturn? What in blue space are you doing in port?" "Don't look now," I advised him, "but we've been here since day before yesterday. Matter of fact, you and me h'isted elbows together last night at the Cosmic Bar, remember?" "Remember?" he howled. "How could I? The last I heard of you, Cap Hanson was running the Saturn through the planetoids on some sort of cockeyed transmutation experiment![1] When did you get back? How did you-?"
The Downfall Of Lancelot Biggs
We were about three hours out of Long Island Spaceport, and I had just finished swapping farewell insults with Joe Marlowe, head bug-pounder at Lunar III, when the door of my radio turret slid open and in slithered-if round things can slither-Cap Hanson, skipper of our gallant space-going scow, the Saturn. The Old Man's eyes were as wide as a lady bowler's beam, and his face, which boasts a pale mauve hue even under normal circumstances, was now a ripe, explosive fuchsia. He jammed a pudgy forefinger against his lips. "Shh!" he shhed. He squeezed in and closed the door behind him, shot a nervous glance about the room, then wheezed throatily, "Is there anybody here, Sparks?"

John caught Branwen as she collapsed, unable to do anything but stand there with her in his arms. His ears still rang from her screams, but distant pain where she'd hit him had barely started to filter through.
He nearly dropped her when someone knocked at the door. He lifted her enough to carry her into the bathroom and put her in the chair by the window as carefully as he could.
By the time he made it back the bedroom, Fiona opened the door.
"John? What's happened? Someone up here heard a scream?"
She sounded almost as frightened as he felt, and his brain finally lurched back into gear.
"It's nothing, mice in the firewood." He hoped she wouldn't catch the trembling in his voice. "I took care of the poor things. Branwen went in to take a bath. We're both fine."
"Oh, poor Minnie. She'll be disappointed to have missed her chance for a bit of hunting. That's what I get for locking her up in my office. I'm so sorry for the fright, dear. Will you take some tea?"
John managed to smile. He wished Fiona's sweet housecat could solve a problem this big.

Magician First Class
Bev looked at me. "Charlie? You in some sort of trouble?"I laughed.I couldn't help it. I was in so many sorts of trouble that the question seemed ridiculous. For a moment, I thought about laying it all out for her. Bev Thornton had solved problems like this for decades before I was born. She could probably take care of a mauvais wizard without disturbing her stiff grey curls, stopping halfway through for a cigarette break. What would she do if I said, "Well, Bev, I got this job under false pretenses, swore a binding oath to our boss, discovered a human supremacist group is creating a monstrosity in the lot next door, got accidentally entangled with a part-incubus who can't control his powers, and barely survived a run-in with an Eighth Class wizard who has a master he's scared of. I don't know-would you say that's some sort of trouble?"I slapped my hands over my mouth, as if I could cram the laughter back in.Thirteenth Avenue, New York's newest neighborhood, is a special place. When the Cataclysm brought magic roaring back to the world in the late 1960s, one of the more benign results was this strip of land heaving out of the Hudson River. Real estate developers rushed in where fully armed Hunter squads feared to tread, and now, in the post-Faerie Accords era, the magical and mundane inhabitants of Thirteenth Avenue live, work, and play there in perfect harmony.More or less. Hey, it's still New York.Charlie Cross, recent history graduate and not-very-good-magician, isn't sure about applying for a job at the Thirteenth Avenue Community Recreation Center. After all, non-profits are notoriously unstable. But there's a recession on, and if she doesn't find something soon she'll have to stay with her mom in the suburbs. One ill-advised promise to a fae later, and Charlie's in, wrangling the booking calendar around a werewolf's 8th birthday party, taking sign-ups for a succubus's burlesque classes, and flirting with the adorable half-demon mechanic down the block. But amid the usual chaos of balancing budgets, juggling community needs, and pleasing demanding benefactors, more sinister forces are at work. Not everyone is happy about the peaceful coexistence of the magical and the mundane, and they threaten Charlie, her new friends, and Thirteenth Avenue itself. Charlie, inexperienced and underpowered as she is, might just be the key to preventing disaster. But she definitely can't do it alone.

The Gluemaker's Demise
The Gluemaker's Demise is a haunting prelude of memory, loss, and quiet becoming, set in the same richly imagined world as The Shaman's Blessing. In this lyrical and introspective novel, Patricia Barnett draws readers into the fragile beginnings of a society shaped as much by grief and longing as by hope.Long before the arrival of the Shaman, the seeds of destiny are already taking root. Within a remote tribal settlement bound by tradition and unspoken rules, lives unfold beneath the slow weight of expectation. Bonds are formed and broken, ambitions simmer beneath the surface, and the choices of a few begin to ripple outward in ways no one can yet foresee. At the heart of the story lies a quiet reckoning - the gradual unravelling of certainties once thought permanent. As personal loyalties are tested and the past presses insistently upon the present, the community must confront the cost of its beliefs and the sacrifices demanded by survival.Told with restraint, empathy, and a deep sensitivity to inner lives, The Gluemaker's Demise explores themes of belonging, inheritance, and the slow turning of fate. It is a story of origins rather than endings - a subtle, resonant meditation on how worlds are shaped not by grand gestures, but by the unnoticed moments that quietly change everything.

The Rig at Frost Crescent

The Return of Lancelot Biggs
I guess it was about 7:58 Solar Constant Time-yes, it was exactly that, because I'd just received a clearance O.Q. for 8:00 from the Sun City portmaster-when the portal of my radio turret opened and in waddled Cap Hanson, skipper of our void-mangling freighter, the Saturn. The Old Man's optics were dancing like a nudist in a hailstorm, and he wore a grin on his lips that stretched from ear to there. "Guess what, Sparks?" he chortled. "I got a s'prise for you! Guess who just came aboard?" I said gloomily, "If it's anybody like that sourpuss encyclopedia-on-legs who came aboard at Luna, you can have my resignation right now, if not sooner. I've been hectored and bulldozed and criticised so much lately that I'm beginning to feel like one large apology with corpuscles." I wasn't joking, either. You know me-Bert Donovan-the easy-goingest bug-pounder who ever loused up the ether with Morse code. I don't get mad often, and my nerves are as steady as a forger's fingers, but this newest addition to the Saturn's personnel had me on the verge of babbling baby-talk.
Mr. Biggs Goes To Town
One thing is certain. When bigger and better shirts are made, the officials of the Corporation which underpays us will stuff 'em. We were squatting in a cradle on Earth, waiting for flight orders, when the control turret door swung open and in marched two owl-eyed zombies dressed in frowns and white mess jackets. One of these looked at us, then at a slip of paper. He said, "Donovan, Herbert J.?" "Present," I said, "but not accountable for. Otherwise known as 'Sparks.' What's the matter, Satyr? Who found out what about me?" "Come," ordered the stranger curtly, "with me!" And he jerked a thumb in the general direction of the doorway. Cap Hanson-he's the skipper of our space-shuttling freighter, the Saturn-bridled like a mick at an Orangeman's Ball. If there's one thing he cannot tolerate, it is hearing anyone else issue orders on his bridge. His brows congealed into fur-line cumulus clouds.
