Chutzpah Heroes
This book retells thirteen stories from the Bible about people who faced a sudden challenge and by a bold, quick wit and with God's help got success. Some were young (David the shepherd and Miriam the big sister), others old (Paul). Some were from Israel (King Saul the farmer), some were foreigners (Jael who lived in a tent). Boys and girls, men and women, strong and weak, all became heroes of faith and part of the great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us. All children should know their stories, and all adults should be able to tell them to children -- and to themselves. William J Edgar grew up in the Bronx, on a farm in the Catskill Mountains, and in the Philadelphia suburb of Upper Darby after his father died in 1953. He was graduated from nearby Swarthmore College in 1968. In 1980 he received a Ph.D. in history from the University of Pennsylvania after living with his wife Gretchen and children in Cyprus 1970-74 and in Athens, Greece 1978-79. He pastored the Broomall Reformed Presbyterian (Covenanter) Church near Philadelphia for 34 years while also teaching high school mathematics in the West Chester public schools for 30 years. He then served as interim president of Geneva College. In retirement, he is writing books and helping take care of his 17 grandchildren. See williamedgar.org

The Little Ones Have Feelings, Too!
"Use your words." "Don't hit." "Why are you crying?" Are you exhausting these phrases in your parenting? Children need to have a vocabulary of emotional words in order to express their feelings. If not, they will end up throwing a temper tantrum by hitting and crying to express their feelings. Children's little minds are like sponges, they love to learn new words and use them. In this book the lowercase alphabet represents young children as they present different real life situations children may find themselves experiencing at one time or another. Each letter introduces new negative and new positive emotional vocabulary words. The children will learn that by making good choices, they will experience more positive feelings, especially with friendships, school and in social settings. The beautiful detailed watercolor illustrations calls for much discussion and language to be used by both children and adults. Parent and teachers will find this book useful as they help children learn to identify their feelings and learn to react socially and emotionally in a more acceptable manner.

Fabulous Lost & Found and the little Greek mouse
A little mouse walks into the Lost & Found, but can only speak Greek. How will Mr and Mrs Frog figure out what the mouse is missing...? Aimed at children aged 2-7, the unique 'Story-powered language learning method' combines humour, story and emotion to gently and memorably introduce kids to more than forty simple and fun Greek words and phrases. "The kids were so busy laughing they didn't realise they were learning." Kyle Buchannan, Dad of two, London. It's a bilingual children's book with a difference, that helps lay the foundations of a love of languages. How does the Story Powered Language Learning Method work? Unlike a Greek picture dictionary or traditional bilingual Greek English children's books, the Fabulous Lost and Found uses the the 'Story-powered Language Learning Method' taps into a child's natural abilities. There are three steps: We create an emotionally engaging and funny story for children and adults to enjoy together, just like any of the other Greek books for children. Studies show that social interaction, like enjoying a book together, is critical in language learning. Through the story, we introduce a relatable character who speaks only in the new language. This helps build empathy and a positive attitude towards people who speak different languages. These are both important aspects in laying the foundations for lasting language acquisition in a child's life. As the story in this Greek picture book progresses, the child naturally works with the characters to discover the meanings of a wide range of fun new words and phrases. Strategic use of humour ensures that this subconscious learning is rewarded with laughter; the child feels good and the first seeds of a lifelong love of language are sown. Message from the Author: Mark Pallis There is a special magic about learning words another language and using them: I truly think it warms the heart. I've learnt jokes or songs in ten languages so far and it's brought me so much joy. This Greek book for kids is first and foremost a really enjoyable story, but it's also my way of helping little learners engage with a new language, empathise with strangers and ultimately build a love of languages. And it happens without them realising. Any parent who has ever tried to smuggle vegetables into pasta sauce will know that you can get a lot of good stuff into things without kids realising. This book is the same! I want you all to have fun together and enjoy the story. All the learning is a bonus; the icing on the cake (or the extra veg in the sauce!). The idea that after a few reads, kids will be able to go up to a native speaker and tell them in their own language: 'I've lost my hat' fills me with joy. Imagine how proud the child will feel. And imagine how proud you'll feel too! I hope you have as much fun reading it as I had writing it. With best wishes, Mark
