This fully illustrated Bible story begins when Jesus' close friend Lazarus dies. Lazarus' sisters, Martha and Mary, are weeping, but their tears soon turn to joy when Jesus miraculously brings their dead brother back to life! Judas criticises her act of love and devotion, but Jesus defends Mary, telling Judas to leave her alone. Not long after that Jesus enters the city of Jerusalem, riding on the colt of a donkey, and the waiting crowds give Him a royal welcome. As Passover draws near, Jesus eats a special meal with His disciples. He tells them that the bread represents His body, and the cup of wine represents His blood that will be poured out for the forgiveness of sins. Then He says that He is about to be betrayed. But His disciples are greatly distressed and confused. They did not understand that God had sent His Son to die for our sins. This Bible story is fully illustrated, and much of the text comes directly from Scripture.

Ablaze
A lyrical and empowering biography on Deanne Shulman, America's first female smokejumper. Deanne loved being outdoors. With her family, she spent summers sailing the Salton Sea and backpacking the Sierra Nevada Mountains. As she grew older, her love of nature only grew. So when the heat rose each fire season and the blazes burned near and far, she noticed. Deanne knew she had to do her part in fighting the fires. She spent years on woodland crews, clearing brush and branches that could make the fire spread, and on hotshot crews where she fought faster fires and took bigger risks, spending weeks in one-hundred-degree heat working twenty-four-hour shifts. But what Deanne really wanted was to be a smokejumper, to jump from planes and parachute into dangerous wildfires that no truck could ever reach. To be the first line of defense. The only problem? There had never been a female smokejumper before. With lyrical text from Jessica Lawson and striking illustrations from Sarah Gonzales, Ablaze tells the story of Deanne Shulman's groundbreaking work with the United States Forest Service as she fought against unfair rules and blazed the way for women in firefighting.

Yasha's Amazin' Bar Mitzvah
A Russian American boy searches for his identity, true friends, and above all, tickets to see the Mets win the World Series in this heartfelt novel from Margaret Gurevich. It's 1986, and thirteen-year-old Yasha Reznik doesn't understand why his parents moved them all from his Russian community of Brighton Beach to the suburbia of Rockwood, New Jersey. Sure, it may be their "American Dream," but it's not his. Yasha's dream is to make it through his Bar Mitzvah, watch the New York Mets make it to the playoffs, and fit in at his new school. But fitting in may be harder than he thinks, when he's one of only two Russian families in town and all the kids he meets keep calling him Drago (thanks Rocky movies), even after he starts going by "Jake" instead of "Yasha." The only person who seems to really get him is Bernie, his pal from the senior citizen home where Yasha is doing community service for his Bar Mitzvah project. Then Bernie says his dream is also to see the Mets win the World Series. And Yasha may not know his Torah portion yet, or why he feels alone even with his new "friends," but he does know one thing: somehow, someway, he's going to get those tickets.
