The Adventures of the Three Amigos Club and Grandma's Mystical Bible
The book is about three young people who are friends and have established a club called the Three Amigos. These young people are neighbors who have an intimate relationship with each other as their parents are good friends who also grew up together. Terry is the main character. Terry's grandmother now lives with them since his grandfather passed away. Terry's grandmother is on vacation at one of his aunt's house. One day as Terry passes his grandmother's room, he notices a light shining under his grandmother's bed. He gets his friends who were downstairs playing video games to come upstairs with him to investigate the light in his grandmother's room. As they nudge each other to go in her room they finally went in the forbidden room (because his grandmother did not give them permission.) They discovered that it was his grandmother's bible which gave off the light. Being afraid that his mother would come and discover that they were in his grandmother's room Terry pulled the blanket off of the bed over them, pulled the bible out from under the bed as it was shaking and opened the bible. They were then sucked into the bible and off to a bible adventure. They experience a bible adventure every time they open the bible.
Go Light Your World
Author Kimberly Stringer has been following Christian singer Kathy Troccoli since the 1980s. She has attended Troccoli's concerts, conferences, and cruises. While attending one of the early events with the popular singer, Kimberly's twin sister Kara, a speech and language therapist, volunteered to do the sign language for the song, Go Light Your World. That began a personal relationship between the women, the singer, and her staff. As the owner of Kreative Kids Academy in Wichita, Kimberly had always wanted to do a children's book based on the inspiring lyrics to Go Light Your World. After obtaining permission from Troccoli, Kimberly wrote her own "lyrics" aimed at the children in her classrooms. The book shares what it is like to be a child and a teenager with autism. It has a strong antibullying message and stresses kindness and acceptance of people who are different than you. It is a true story about an orphan with disabilities who overcomes poverty, starvation, health issues, discrimination, and heartbreaking bullying incidents to compete in the Special Olympics. With the support of her mother, she learns that she can accomplish anything if she is willing to work hard and never give up.Kelsey spent her entire life wanting to swim in the Special Olympics. At first, that dream seemed impossible. She was found alone, sick, and starving in a Russian orphanage when she was eleven months old. She was a very sick child who had autism, intellectual disabilities, and Rubenstein-Taybi Syndrome (a rare genetic disorder). The doctors did not know if she would ever walk or talk. Gradually, Kelsey became healthier and stronger. She joined a swim team and became a competitive swimmer. Along the way, Kelsey encountered numerous barriers. After ten years of being denied the opportunity to participate, Kelsey finally competed in the state Special Olympics Games. It didn't matter to her that she was the smallest kid competing and she did not know much about track and field (because she was still denied the opportunity to compete in swimming events). All that mattered to her was she finally had the opportunity to participate with the other athletes. Winning is not always about coming in first. Sometimes it is proving that you can stay in the game despite having all odds stacked against you.
