Doing Interpretive Research
Interpretivism has an intuitive appeal to many social researchers, but they often feel ill-equipped to do it. Other social researchers tend to believe that interpretivism is a specialized niche with little relevance to their research practice. What has been lost is the awareness that interpretation is an explanatory logic and form of inquiry that is at the root of all social science research, including quantitative research. In this volume, the authors guide social researchers and instructors in better understanding and improving the experience of doing interpretive research. They explore the centrality of experience in learning and teaching interpretive research, paying special attention to the role of emotions in the learning process, and the way that negative emotions, such as doubt and anxiety, can impart learning. The authors provide a novel approach to methods teaching by offering a set of heuristics, open-ended strategies of inquiry and discovery for improving the practice of social research. Uniquely, they demonstrate how emotions can be leveraged in the learning process to uncover surprising new insights about social reality and unlock researchers' imagination. They reveal how social researchers, engaged or interested in interpretivism in learning, can turn their research into an enjoyable, productive, and imaginative experience.

Move with Purpose
When I embarked on my journey as a Physical Education teacher in the United States three years ago, I could never have anticipated the profound impact this role would have on my life. My passion for movement began in my childhood in the Philippines, where I found joy and expression through dance, theater, and traditional folk performances. These early experiences instilled in me a deep appreciation for the power of physical activity to unite communities and foster personal growth. This book is a culmination of my experiences, challenges, and triumphs as a PE teacher and cheer/dance coach. It offers practical insights, personal anecdotes, and strategies aimed at inspiring fellow educators and aspiring teachers. My goal is to highlight the transformative potential of physical education-not just in developing athletic skills, but in nurturing confidence, resilience, and holistic well-being among students.Throughout these pages, you'll find reflections on building student motivation, adapting to diverse skill levels, integrating technology into PE, and promoting healthy habits beyond the classroom. I also delve into the importance of mental health, both for students and educators, and share advice for those new to the field.I hope this book serves as a valuable resource and a source of inspiration, reminding educators of the vital role they play in shaping not only students' physical abilities but also their character and outlook on life.

Frederick County, Maryland Land Records Abstracts, 1768-1770, Liber M
Although it is becoming increasingly easy to access these records online now through the Maryland State Archives, the value that abstracts offer in locating records through their every name indexing, cannot be matched with the indexes available online. The official indexes do not always identify estate sales, bills of sale, Negro sales or manumissions, or depositions and do not index information within deeds, such as mention of neighbors, as well as other documents brought to the court to be recorded. Also, many researchers have difficulty reading the old hand written books, so this also provides a guide and finding aid for the beginning genealogist. The page numbers of the deeds in the original volume are given in the abstracts, so that when desired, the original deeds can be accessed and printed from the Maryland State Archives Web Site.Abstracts are best used as brief guides and indexes to original records, and to find people mentioned in deeds who would otherwise be lost in the records. This series of abstracts focuses on the names of parties in the deeds. Mrs. Andersen has done a great service by compiling these abstracts to assist seasoned genealogists as well as family historians in their research.
