When Naomi first saw people without homes, she tried to look away and pretend they were invisible.
But with her family's support, she took a brave step — one that opened her eyes, her heart, and her world to kindness and change.
This picture book was written by 10-year-old Hong Kong student Francis He. It tells the story of a young girl named Naomi and her journey of learning to care for and help people experiencing homelessness. Francis invited artist MY, who has personally experienced homelessness, to create the touching and vibrant illustration that gently guide young readers into the invisible world of those without homes.
Francis believes that when we look away from people experiencing homelessness, they become "invisible" — their struggles go unseen, and their needs go unanswered. If we choose to see them with empathy and understanding, they can come back into view and return to the world we all share. From that moment on, even the smallest act of kindness can begin to change a life.
