A Widow's Heart
"A Widow's Heart" accounts for the author's journey of grief after fifty-one years of marriage. Vividly, she recounts the days up to her husband's death and the sorrow of learning to live alone as a widow. As the days turn into weeks and months, the memories of past years and her husband's illness become unbearable, even while crying out to God constantly. When the struggles become overwhelming, the author experiences specific encounters through God's word and visions that give her hope and a new identity filled with purpose. Through the conflict of soul and spirit, a ministry is born that includes two lifelong widow friends reaching out to widows suffering through the silence of grief. Through lives of surrender seeking God's will and guidance, the scripture in Job 29:13 b KJV is fulfilled, "And I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy." My name is Anna Horn, and I live in Martin County, a small town in Eastern Ky., where my husband Mossie and I raised our two children. I received my Bachelor's and Masters's Degrees in Communication Disorders at Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., and retired from the Martin County School system in 2016. God and family have always been a priority, so my husband and I endeavored to instill these values in our children. I've loved to read and write all my life, so I have compiled several journals that I hope one day will be an encouragement to my family. After Mossie's death in April 2021, the Widows Heart Ministry was birthed. I felt inspired by his life to write about my journey and to share my story with other widows experiencing grief and to take heart and know God will carry them through.
The Fundamental Concepts of Caregiving
The Fundamental Concepts of Caregiving is uniquely written to address the current and future concerns about caregiving in America and what is needed to enhance the care recipient and caregiver relationship. It provides research-based information on caregiving in America and other countries. This book also recommends practical, logical, and system-thinking approaches to caregiving that are based on the author's twenty-four years of experience, knowledge, training, and passion as a caregiver. The book discusses why caregiving is a unique career and an opportunity to demonstrate one's humanity to others. It also discusses why caregiving is more than a career but a process of building a relationship by considering the following: barriers to caregiving; the Push and Pull Approach; the roles of care recipient and caregiver; the roles of stakeholders and provider agencies; diversity; interconnected support teams; staff training; polarization; the political and social determinants of health; abuse; and system thinking. This book will help readers understand the values and responsibilities of a caregiver and guide them on how to develop a lasting working relationship with care recipients. The book is a practical tool for executives of provider agencies, directors of home health care agencies, direct support employees, and care recipients and their family members.
Aging Comes Without a Manual
The aging process is a sneaky son-of-a-gun. It begins by lurking around the edges of one's life and occasionally darting into your person to take a bite out of your well-being. It then zips back into the shadows and waits for the next opportunity to reappear and take another bite out of your youth, your appearance, your confidence, and/or your already fragile self-concept. You'd like to grab it and strangle it, but it's always out of sight and out of reach. Each bite it takes out of one's existence leaves the victim a little less capable of ignoring the damage done by the attacks and a little less able to ignore their cumulative effects. Fighting against aging is a losing battle, but we do have a good shot at enjoying the many good parts of it. Aging Comes Without a Manual is a humorous look at aging and the notion that "seventy is the new fifty."

Embracing Elderhood
Undeniably, growing old is challenging; the physical pain and emotional angst are unrelenting. The tendency is to think there is nothing left to live for; no point in defying the unforgiving mortality chart. Embracing Elderhood offers an alternative to the pessimism that leads to 'dying before we die!' It loudly proclaims, being old is about chronology; being an Elder is about attitude. The book is a genuine contribution to the narrative about aging, redefining the concept of Elderhood by asking and answering three important questions. Why am I here? With our lives well past the halfway point, we gain perspective, recognizing how childhood and chance predetermined the role we play in life. Now the question becomes, 'going forward, is this how I want to live my life?' The task is to exorcise the shame and regret of the past, finding forgiveness in your heart and redefining your relationship to family, money, society and your inner truth. Why am I still here? We move from the corner office to a corner of the den, reduced in stature by a youth obsessed society, often burdened by illness and personal loss. We struggle to find a reason to get out of bed in the morning that is more significant than still another round of golf. Elders find motivation and purpose by making the behavioral change from self-service to being of-service, using their life's experiences as social service, making a positive difference in the lives of others. Why was I here? After we have passed, will our loved ones remember us kindly? Will we have made a positive difference in people's lives? It's now or never to do what remains to be done and to finally confront any unresolved issues. We are the sages, the teachers, the philosophers with the perspective that only comes with age. But we must speak out. As elders we have an elemental responsibility to teach others and share our gifts.

The Ten Pleasures of Marriage and The Confession of the New-married Couple
"This small Treatise which I here present unto thee is the fruit of some spare hours, that my cogitations, after they had been for a small time, between whiles, hovering to and fro in the Air, came fluttring down again, still pitching upon the subject of the Ten Pleasures of Marriage, in each of which I hope thou wilt find somthing worthy of thy acceptance, because I am sure 'tis matter of such nature as hath never before been extant, and especially in such a method; neither canst thou well expect it to be drest up in any thing of nice and neat words, as other subjects may be, but only to be clad in plain habit most fit for the humour of the Fancy. If I perceive that it please thee, and is not roughly or unkindly dealt withall; nor brain'd in the Nativity, to spoil its generation of a further product, it will incourage me to proceed upon a second part, some say of the same Tune, but I mean to the same Purpose, and apparelled very near the same dress: In the mean time, with hopes that thou wilt be kind to this, and give it a gentle reception, from him who is thine. Farewell."
Pathways to Hope and Healing
The content of this book is a training program developed to not only bring hope and healing to survivors of abuse and trauma but for training others to use this systematic approach to healing. This workbook has been developed for survivors of abuse and trauma of all kinds. Most survivors of abuse are silenced either by their abuser or by their shame and guilt--. This shame and guilt may be assigned either by the offender who threatens to hurt them or a loved one if they tell or by themselves because their conscience tells them "This is good/right." You will discover through these lessons that keeping things inside can cause deeper mental, emotional, and physiological damage as well as the destruction of our ability to care for ourselves and others. We will experience ways of exposing the truth to heal and restore your God-given identity.

Sister Circle Handbook
Everyone benefits when women discover the joy of bonding...face it girls, we are good at this. We can connect with the woman in front of us at the market, or exchange child-rearing tips with someone we just met in an elevator. Men don't do this, and more amazingly, don't want to (they don't know what they're missing!) The truth is, God made us this way. God also gave us gifts that determine how we deal with friendship and life's problems, gifts that also help us become all we can be. The Sister Circle Handbook combines the discovery of our gifts and gives us direction regarding how to use them in our relationships. The Sister Circle Handbook celebrates the joy of sisterhood and is perfect for small group use. It showcases twelve life-issues (like Moods, Forgiveness, Gossip, Dealing with Difficult People, Disappointment, Forgiveness...) and offers biblical and sister-to-sister solutions. The material is not day, month, or year dated, nor is it seasonally defined, so it can be started at any time (we girls need flexibility!) And there's more: outreach ideas, party starters, and yummy recipes just to keep you going. The tone isn't preachy-teachy but conversational, and is fashioned with a heady mixture of female wit and fun interwoven with substance. In addition, the Sister Circle Handbook is a great companion to the first four Sister Circle novels by Nancy Moser and Vonette Bright. The goal is for every woman to deepen her faith, discover her God-given gifts, nourish sisterhood, and balance it all while living a life of joy, fulfilment, and purpose. Both new and seasoned believers will be enriched by the experience. So open up the Sister Circle Handbook and dive into the to-dos, how-tos, and good news about being a Sister in Christ!

Be Happy
I wrote this book for anyone who is searching for happiness or who is living through pain and grief or who has been afflicted with a hardship that results in sadness and restless nights. This book says the following: Rejoice and be happy; remain positive and at peace. Indeed it says this as well: Live life as it should be lived - wholesomely, happily, and productively. This book diagnoses the mistakes we make that go against the intrinsic logic that we - as human beings - have been endowed with (but which we tend to forget when we do not follow correct guidance), whether those mistakes are in our thinking or in our dealings. I sincerely hope that readers will benefit from this book. Before reading it, you might - after only a perfunctory glance - pass some kind of judgment. However, let sound logic and precepts taken from revelation arbitrate that judgment.
