I just needed something simple and beautiful during that time, and they gave me a lane to be in with my grief.Learn to Fly joins other lived experience grief books such as It's OK That You're Not OK by Megan Devine, Welcome to the Grief Club by Janine Kwoh, and the magical The invisible String by Patrice Karst.Helping loved ones as they live through this new reality can feel impossible as we search for ways to talk about grief or loving gifts for those dealing with loss. Cassandra DeCicco is a thirty-something New Yorker who hopes to inspire others with her personal story and the tools and lessons learned along the way, so they realize they aren't alone in their struggles and that it will eventually get better.

Marriage and the Culture of Peace
This book provides skills for therapists and families to help improve interpersonal communication, promoting a new system of family coexistence and a refreshed concept of the modern marriage in society. Written from a constructivist peace perspective, the book's aim is to reduce the high statistics of intimate partner violence that occurs in Mexico, arguing that the culture of peace and how it is born in the family in turn affects society for better or for worse. Based upon interviews from 150 long-term married couples, the chapters address the components that promote peaceful dialogue in marriages, such as assertive language, active listening, tolerance to frustration, and gender perspectives. Including accessible language and several models of peace, the book uniquely examines same-sex marriages, the role of children in marriage conflicts, and prescribed gender assumptions and roles in relationships. It aims to empower family members to move away from old habits and seek a more equitable existence in marriages and society at large. This interdisciplinary text will be of great interest to family therapists and clinical social workers, as well as to students and researchers in communication and peace studies.

The Perfect Love
The Perfect Love is a book that illustrates the type of love married couples and individuals who are considering marriage should expect when that marriage has been designated by God. It is the type of love that many believe impossible yet mirrors the love that Christ holds for the church and His people. The Perfect Love introduces many of the elements one should weigh regarding themselves and their love interest. And yes! There are certain natural inclinations or compulsions one should expect when you find yourself connected to "the one." Remember that within "the perfect love", each person is intended to perfect the other. This is not to suggest that each individual is flawless but rather, though each has their own challenges and flaws to contend with, together they are made into a perfect union through Christ. Together and with the appropriate understanding, you can overcome any obstacle or challenge that may cross your collective path. The Perfect Love is a book that I labored over for years. It provides very fundamental principles based on biblical references for establishing and maintaining a "perfect love" between a serious couple. The book is certain to change or enhance your present way of looking at love and life. To learn more about the author or to check out some of his other books, go to shop.ndbrennan.com.

Monsters in Love
A gritty, down-to-earth guide for real-life couples Conflict is a natural part of any intimate relationship. Yet most couples either avoid it or try to smooth over their differences. This often results in at least one partner compromising their integrity-and stunting their own growth.Monsters in Love challenges the idea that conflict between partners is unhealthy or something to avoid. Instead, it encourages both people to stand by what they need and who they are--but to do so with compassion rather than competitiveness or vengefulness. This book is about the reality of committed, intimate relationships, which are designed to inspire both people to grow up. It challenges some common misperceptions about what makes for a successful partnership. It also rocks the boat of psychotherapy, calling out therapists who don't bring their best to their clients. Instead of comforting fantasies or false promises, Monsters in Love offers you and your partner a chance to make your relationship--and your lives--much bigger and more emergent.

The Globalization Paradox
In the early 1980s incest was ceasing to be a taboo subject. This is a work of general as well as specialist interest.
Domestic Violence and Human Growth
I had a first-hand encounter with domestic violence. I was brought up in a family where peace was a strange word and fights were the daily ingredient. Many times I saw my father beat up my mother and siblings, something that greatly affected my childhood and somehow had an effect on my adulthood. This book aims at airing out the vice and championing against such traumatizing violence in our homes and restoring hopes to the victims. The information in the book alongside other related books and articles are of great help to the victims and to the children who feel their childhood is being compromised by the vice. It teaches that one can grow out of the effects and shadows of domestic violence and become an ambassador of change and peace rather than taking onto the footsteps of those who are evil.
Holding Shadows
The question I pose as the basis for this book is this- What if we normalize grief in such a way that we acknowledge and support grievers who have lost relationships, jobs, health and not only when someone dies? Imagine giving a card to a friend after the loss of a job, or when they were denied a promotion they worked really hard for. How radical that would be but also how cathartic! In order to better understand and manage grief we must first normalize grieving both for the living and the dead. I know this means that it takes some of the mystery out of grief and grieving. This is an important development in managing and understanding grief. I will address grief by unpacking and defining it beyond just the physical death of a loved one.
A Bird Watching
"What a beautiful, tender collection of poems Victoria Wyttenberg has written. Commingling longing, desire, and wonder, she creates an aura of comfort in the face of existence's beauties and miseries. With an eye for the upsurges of emotion that come from looking closely at daily life, and with an ear for poetry's affirmation of the music of experience, she affirms in her poems something profound about humanity: we endure because we love. Throughout A Bird Watching, I find a fresh joy in what poetry can accomplish-from a poet who has devoted her lifetime to the hooks that enter the heart."-David Biespiel, author of Republic Caf矇"What happens to the life of the boy hunting frogs, the father off at war, the mother alone in her kitchen cooking a French dish for the first or hundredth time? And what happens when one's own mother, father, sister, brother, husband, daughter and son are all, as the poet writes, lying tucked in the dark, alone in their graves? Victoria Wyttenberg gives us a Master Class on how to live and how to grieve in these beautiful narrative poems. Nature is present, family and the death of family, trauma and love, all! Life is hard. What a privilege to be guided through it, at least within these pages, by such a thoughtful, talented, and dynamic poet."-Matthew Dickman, author of Husbandry

Seeds of Destruction
It was after dark and rather late when we arrived at Hotel Bernerhof, so we decided to stay in our room and snack on the cheese and crackers we had brought with us from the plane. When we opened the drapes the following morning, we couldn't believe our eyes! There right in front of us, perfectly centered within the drapes was the picture of the lovely little Chapel in the Snow, the same picture which John had taken in January 1983. the picture had turned out so beautifully, we used it as the cover of our Christmas tapes that year which we gave as Christmas presents. Our room was located in the center of the hotel on the second floor right above the restaurant. It was amazing! Of all the hotel rooms in Kandersteg, I wondered, what would be the chances of our getting this particular room at this particular time of the year when most of the hotels were filled to capacity? One in 2,000, I suppose! What a miracle!

Instead, it would heal Suzanne's broken, driven, workaholic life. And she, in turn, would lead Teal's healing work throughout the world via books, a podcast and a Facebook group. This is the story of how Teal's incandescent energy has appeared in visions, dreams, whisperings, and a tingling, channeled laughter that left Suzanne uplifted, inspired. Healed. Teal is here to heal us all in the toughest of times. Damaged But Not Destroyed
A journey from damaged-to-salvation is what best describes this almost-autobiographical recount of Julene Grant-Percy's life. She invites the reader into her story: a story of a sin-riddled life that almost ended in her demise at the hands of someone who she shared an intimate relationship with. It is a depiction demonstrating how a life so damaged can still claw its way to freedom, only with the help of the Most High. This book also expounds on the many victories she had after conversion, and how the Lord continues to grant her grace and favour through faith and obedience in Him. It is her prayer that the account penned in this book will heal and strengthen women (and men) alike, despite their damaged psyche; that they may ultimately experience Christ with even greater magnitude than she has, and be able to say, like her, "I was damaged, but I am not destroyed."
