A Eurocentric Study of New Terrorism
Bachelor Thesis from the year 2020 in the subject Politics - Topic: Peace and Conflict, Security, grade: A, Lund University (The Institute of Political Science), course: Bachelor's degree course, language: English, abstract: New Terrorism has been a highly regarded theory in the field of terrorism since the late 1990s, but how accurate is it in regards to European terrorism in 2010-2018? Are terrorists more lethal, primarily religious, part of transnational and decentralized organizations, and are they using CBRN-weapons? This paper uses a quantitative study, with a descriptive and retroductive approach, of all terror attacks in Europe 2010- 2018, to examine New Terrorisms' validity, and propose possible changes to the theory. I find that New Terrorism is partly correct. Terror groups are primarily transnational and non-hierarchical and lethality is higher than in the early 90s, although less so in Western Europe. Separatist groups are however found to be the most common type of movement, followed by ideological movements - responsible for 4 and 2 times as many terror attacks as religious groups. Likewise, the potential threat of terrorists using CBRN-weapons for mass destruction is found to be incorrect. Based on this, New Terrorism 2.0, Europe edition is proposed. Stating that separatist and ideological groups are the most common, lethality is high (but less so in Western Europe), organizations are primarily transnational and non-hierarchical, and the risk of terrorist using CBRN-weapons is low in contemporary European terrorism.

The Great Replacement
The narrative of 'Stop the Boats' has divided the debate over UK immigration into 'racists' (who want to control immigration) and 'anti-racists' (who welcome all and any number of refugees). But while 110,000 illegal immigrants have entered the UK over the last three years, between 2021 and 2023 some 1.369 million immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian subcontinent entered legally. If this rate of immigration continues - and everything indicates that it will - two questions arise: 1) How and where will the UK build a city the size of Glasgow every year to house them? And 2) given they're not all doctors, scientists and engineers, what have these immigrants been brought here to do? By analysing United Nations policy documents, this book shows that replacement immigration is a trillion-dollar industry, and its goals, as such, are not the sudden conversion of Western governments to the multiform benefits of 'diversity' but those being served by the capitalisation of both elites and immigrants to rearrange global supply chains, lower labour costs, and in doing so increase the profits of multinational corporations. The data compiled in this book has been published by the United Nations, the European Commission, the UK Government, the Ministry of Justice, the Office for National Statistics, the Office for Budget Responsibility, the Social Mobility Commission, The House of Commons Library, the Resolution Foundation, Statista and other news publishers. In publishing it, the author intends to make known to the British public the official data about UK immigration. From this data, he draws tentative but logical conclusions that - unlike the UK Government and mainstream media - he invites the reader to interrogate and challenge. By providing the empirical data for debate on a topic of national concern, the aim of this book is to raise public awareness of the reality of replacement immigration, its policy origins, its corporate lobbying, its economic motivations, its ideological promotion, its political implementation, its legal enforcement, and of the impact it has already had and will have in the future. From presidential briefings and targeted drone assassinations to a politically charged trial in a Brooklyn courtroom, the men's story sheds new light not only on the figure of the "radical," but also on the "moderate" Muslim, represented by a community forever changed by the men's departure. Homegrown Radicals offers a case study of the complex entanglements of the radical and moderate Muslim in post-9/11 North America. Youcef Soufi brings these figures together in uneasy tension, providing insight into how state violence has inextricably tied them together. Focusing on the radicalization of the three Muslim students, the book traces the general sense of affective injury among North American Muslims over the loss of Muslim life in Western military campaigns overseas. Progressive political organizing faces a chicken-and-egg predicament. On the one hand, those who are most impacted by a circumstance should be the ones identifying problems and developing solutions. On the other hand, simply being a worker does not make one a unionist or anti-capitalist. When activists are moved to address the perceived injustices that other groups experience, they can get caught in a strong tension between their professed ethic of bottom-up leadership and their desire to change the status quo. Worker Centered is a close-to-the-ground, ethnographic narrative of a workplace organizing campaign at a company whose workforce was primarily low wage and immigrant.
