The Widening of God's Mercy
A fresh, deeply biblical account of God's expanding grace and mercy, tracing how the Bible's narrative points to the full inclusion of LGBTQ people in Christian communities "A radical new vision . . . and [an] argument that God's plan was always to include more and more people."--Scott Detrow, All Things Considered, NPR Discussions of the Bible and human sexuality often focus on a scattered handful of specific passages. But arguments about this same set of verses have reached an impasse, two leading biblical scholars believe; these debates are missing the forest for the trees. In this learned and beautifully written book, Richard and Christopher Hays explore a more expansive way of listening to the overarching story that scripture tells. They remind us of a dynamic and gracious God who is willing to change his mind, consistently broadening his grace to include more and more people. Those who were once outsiders find themselves surprisingly embraced within the people of God, while those who sought to enforce exclusive boundaries are challenged to rethink their understanding of God's ways. The authors--a father and son--point out ongoing conversations within the Bible in which traditional rules, customs, and theologies are rethought. They argue that God has already gone on ahead of our debates and expanded his grace to people of different sexualities. If the Bible shows us a God who changes his mind, they say, perhaps today's Christians should do the same. The book begins with the authors' personal experiences of controversies over sexuality and closes with Richard Hays's epilogue reflecting on his own change of heart and mind.

Evil and Suffering in Life
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world (John 16:33).Evil and suffering are real, widespread, and severe in this world-sickness, loss, poverty, rejection, injustice, and many more. No person, ethnic group, or nation is exempt from them. Most likely, you may have gone through hardships one time or another. These ills leave many hurting, discouraged, hopeless, and wondering if there is meaning and purpose to this life. Also, many ask if there is a God who cares or is in control of the universe. The author discusses evil and suffering from a biblical position, examining several viewpoints as well as biblical reasons and solutions for suffering. In his view, we suffer mainly because we live in a fallen world of moral evil and physical danger-a world marred by sin and evil forces. Afflictions may come from natural disasters, epidemics, social injustices, evil and reckless choices, evil forces, and many more. However, we are reassured that God is always in control, our constant help, able to turn adversity around for our good, and will end pain and suffering someday for all who trust and follow Him. In Him alone do we find lasting strength and healing for the troubles of this life and hope for eternity of bliss. The book is worth reading because it: - informs biblically and helps us make a sense of life's troubles - brings meaning, purpose, and direction to life - offers hope, comfort, and encouragement to the afflicted - outlines biblical ways for dealing with adversity; - reassures us that God is in charge, our help, and can bring some good out of our troubles- invites us to prepare for an eternity of perfect happiness through faith in Jesus. The book is clear and to the point, engaging, eye-opening, and uplifting. As you read it, may you hear and see the living God who rules over all, finding in Him peace and strength for this life and hope for eternity of perfect happiness through faith in Jesus-an eternity free of evil, pain, and suffering.

Reigniting the Fire of Soul Winning in Our Churches
This book is more than pages and chapters; it is a cry from the heart of God to reignite the burden for lost souls in His church. Reigniting the Fire of Soul Winning in Our Churches was birthed in prayer, refined through experience, and fueled by a deep conviction that the church must return to her original assignment: the Great Commission. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Raymond F. Culpepper for the use of selected portions and insights from his work "The Great Commission Connection." His commitment to evangelism and the empowerment of the church has helped shape the message and mission of this book. His influence is deeply appreciated. To every pastor, leader, intercessor, and believer who refuses to accept a cold and comfortable church, thank you. Your tears, prayers, and fire are needed now more than ever. We cannot afford silence when souls are perishing. We cannot afford indifference when heaven is calling. We cannot afford apathy when the altar is waiting. Let this book stir you, stretch you, and send you. Let the fire fall and let it spread. With gratitude and urgency.

Left Behind
Dr. Eric Betts offers a revolutionary critique of white evangelical eschatology, challenging the predominant paradigm that interprets current and future tribulations as largely concerning the loss of existing comfort and stability, a perspective deeply rooted in privilege. Betts compellingly argues that the tribulations envisioned by many in these communities' pale in comparison to the systemic racism and enduring hardships faced by Black communities-not in some distant, apocalyptic future, but in the everyday now. Drawing from a rich historical tapestry that spans from the Transatlantic slave trade to modern-day injustices, Betts illuminates how these ongoing struggles against institutionalized racism have been, and continue to be, the real tribulations of our times. Contrary to seeing these as insurmountable woes reserved for an eschatological resolution, "Left Behind-A Historic and Ongoing Blackopolypse" advocates for recognizing and combating these injustices in the present, guided by a more inclusive and culturally sensitive understanding of biblical teachings. This book is not just a critique; it's a clarion call for change, urging the reader towards a deeper, action-oriented faith that challenges deceitful narratives and works tirelessly for equality and justice, truly reflecting what it means to be made in the image of God.

A Journey to the Siddhas - I
Dr. Santhi Kalaikaman, the author of this book, developed a deep habit of reading from a very young age, driven by an innate quest for the divine. Her birthplace, Sholinghur-also known as Chola Lingam or Chola Simma Puram-home to the temple of Sri Yoga Lakshmi Narasimhar and Amrithavalli Thayar, played a significant role in nurturing this spiritual pursuit.Growing up, her playgrounds were the very temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Narasimha. The profound spiritual influence of her parents, Thiru Radhabai Ammaiyar and Thiru Kuppusamy, further deepened her sense of devotion. These early experiences laid the foundation for her later reflections on the Siddhars, gently guiding their emergence in her consciousness. What once entered her heart as a seeker's yearning has now found expression in the form of this book.

God Draws Near
In God Draws Near, Old Testament expert and missiologist Collin Cornell challenges conventional thinking about the theology of mission. The prevailing paradigm has been of a single grand story encompassing creation, fall, and redemption. The understanding of God's mission that follows is that of rescue or repair. In the first part of the book, Cornell interacts with and critiques this line of thinking, pointing out how it influences our interpretation of the canon of Scripture, our view of Israel, and even how we view Christ and his incarnation. These problems have consequences for mission practice.Cornell then offers a new model for the biblical theology of mission, recentering it on God's purpose to draw near to creatures out of love and delight. The Song of Songs provides a key inspiration. Cornell argues that rather than being linear, the Bible is geometric, flowing outward from God's presence in the tabernacle in the Old Testament and in Christ in the New. This perspective honors God's relationship with Israel and keeps Christ at the center of God's work in the world.God Draws Near will be of use to students, pastors, mission workers and educators, and interested lay readers. Even those who disagree with Cornell's approach and conclusions will need to grapple with his critiques and proposals.

Jesus Was a Protestant
We have all encountered The People's hatred of Catholics and the Catholic Church, their paranoia about Catholics taking over the country, their passionate opposition to Scottish independence and their adoption of Brexit. They give various reasons, or, rather, rationalisations, for their beliefs, but where do these come from? We know they don't have enough grey matter to make this stuff up themselves, so where do they get it? This book looks at the sources The People use to bolster their prejudices and to help provide some sort of basis for it. Welcome to the world of The People and their gurus.
Diary of a Missionary Nurse
In February 1977, Patrecia Gray, her husband Larry, and two daughters, Robin and Melinda, left their West Virginia home to serve for eight years as missionaries in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. The newly independent country had won its independence from Australian control less than a year previously, and much of the land was still labeled by many as "stone-age."Papua New Guinea is an island where palm trees sway and the moon seems so close that one could reach out and touch it. Bluish-green Pacific waters lap the shores. Sweet pineapples and orange papayas grow as big as footballs. Luscious guava trees and banana plants wait for children to help themselves. Lemon trees are so loaded with fruit that their branches must be supported. The island has its own particular scent. The land is rich in oil, gold, cacao trees, coffee trees, timber, and copra. The people are friendly, strong, and helpful. The island, like other lands, has its "rascals," as they are called, who can steal, kill, and destroy; yet islanders will not willfully harm a bystander when they are in battle with another tribe.Papua New Guinea, PNG, is a totally unique habitat. The content of this book comes from Patrecia's diaries, capturing memories, private thoughts, and stories of delightful, tragic, and miraculous events that revolved around the lives of this missionary family and the native islanders they served.

Lying and Truthfulness
In this book, Stewart Clem develops an account of truthfulness that is grounded in the Thomistic virtue of veracitas. Unlike most contemporary Christian ethicists, who narrowly focus on the permissibility of lying, he turns to the virtue of truthfulness and illuminates its close relationship to the virtue of justice. This approach generates a more precise taxonomy of speech acts and shows how they are grounded in specific virtues and vices. Clem's study also contributes to the contemporary literature on Aquinas, who is often classified alongside Augustine and Kant as holding a rigorist position on lying. Meticulously researched, this volume clarifies what set Aquinas's view apart in his own day and how it is relevant to our own. Clem demonstrates that Aquinas's account provides a genuine alternative to rigorist and consequentialist approaches. His analysis also reveals the perennial relevance of Aquinas's thought by bringing it to bear on contemporary social and ethical issues.

Earthing the Cosmic Christ of Ephesians--The Universe, Trinity, and Zhiyi’s Threefold Truth, Volume 5
This series reads Ephesians within its post-Paul trajectory but considers it also in light of a Mahāyāna Buddhist hermeneutic that is likely unfamiliar to most New Testament scholars. New Testament specialists rarely stray into theological issues outside the Jewish-Christian context, although that context itself is more and more distant from readers today. Academicians are prone to make universal affirmations and claims, and yet it seems that few scholars of Christianity consider the theological universe that exists beyond the bounds of their own familiar guild. And the rare attempts to look East beyond those bounds often result in caricatures of Buddhists and their teachings, much as early New Testament scholars caricatured "the Jews." Even more commonly, such distant, foreign traditions and their theologies are simply ignored, as though the history of the Christian presence in the eastern Mediterranean basin were coterminous with the entire world of meaning. Certainly, one is no more likely to make a name in New Testament scholarship by pondering Chinese Buddhism than to become famous in the field of Buddhology by engaging with a Greek New Testament text. Nevertheless, it is good fun. --John P. Keenan
