Heavenly Grief
Don and Karen Clifford are life-long Christians whose marriage and faith have survived the loss of three of their living children. Because of their total dependence on God during the multiple losses, they began to learn things about surviving grief that aren't covered in the textbooks. They not only learned how to survive the losses, but how to recover in a reasonable time and return to a joyous Christian life. They simply learned (sometimes through trial and error) to avail themselves of the helps and comforts God provides. Don and Karen discuss the help they found and how God's provisions are all part of His all-sufficient grace. They offer practical guidance to help avoid traps that can easily lead to continuing sorrow. They focus on the recovery process and the spiritual lessons that can help the grieving individual find healing and go on to a full and happy life. As young parents, Don and Karen lost their 2-year-old son Mike, who suffered from seizures, when he suffocated in his bedding in the night. A few years later, their baby daughter Rachel contracted spinal meningitis at 3 months but lived in a severely brain-damaged body for over 3 years. Finally, their 5-year-old daughter Beth, who also suffered seizures, died in a bathtub drowning accident at the age of five. Two of their daughters survived and are now married and have given Don and Karen six grandchildren. Both Don and Karen have served faithfully in their churches, team teaching adult Bible classes for most of their adult lives. Don worked as an aerospace engineer while Karen was kept busy in the home with their children. Later Karen became a travel agent and the couple traveled extensively, leading or participating in mission trips around the world. They are now retired and reside in St. Charles, Missouri

A-Make-Do-Christmas
Two small children put together a make-do Christmas for their family. They ventured into the woods behind their house to find a Christmas tree. A scrawny little cedar tree was selected, and planted in a bucket of dirt. The hole they dug in the backyard was where they got their Christmas Dirt. Little Mary Jane and Jerry searched the house for items that might be given as Christmas gifts. The items were used, but everyone would have a make-do gift under the little Christmas tree. The make-do Christmas paper was from brown paper bags; colored with their broken crayons. Since there was no tape...homemade paste was made. The decorations for the tree consisted of a paper chain also from brown paper bags; colored with their broken crayons; a few #2 pencils were hung with thread to give the poor little tree some color; anything that sparkled was also hung on the little Christmas tree. Bill one of the older brothers, made a beautiful shinny star; making this little make-do Christmas tree the most beautiful Christmas tree Mary Jane and Jerry had ever seen. Bill placed a small lamp on the floor, just behind the little tree...the star and all the sparkly items made the little Christmas tree very happy.

Mosquitoes with Original Foreword by Carl Rollyson
One of Faulkner's most controversial novels!A lesser-known but compelling novel from the author of Absalom, Absalom! and The Sound and the Fury.Have you ever wondered what speaks to the tortured soul of an artist? What would it be like to be stuck on a yacht with only the musings of the world and a group of artists as your company? In the heat of the late Louisiana summer, Faulkner brings us a story of artistry that examines the thoughts and actions of Southern bohemians who have nothing to interrupt them but the hum and fire of the mosquitoes that surround them. "Faulkner's message is clear: We are the mosquitoes, and the mosquitoes are us."-Rein Fartel, "Twentieth Century Millennial: Revisiting Faulkner's Mosquitoes." With a foreword by Carl Rollyson, a renowned biographer of Faulkner and other eminent authors, this fine new edition works to highlight the "Louisiana Faulkner," the Faulkner before fame, and his thoughts on the lives of Southern artists.
A Perfect Blend
Blending a family is never an easy process. In fact, some would venture to say all of the different perspectives, emotions, and personalities can make it one of the most challenging tasks a husband and wife can take on. The question then becomes, if we are to become one, what do we need to do to make sure this family is also one? In A Perfect Blend, we explore how to lay a proper foundation for a blended family, how to be led by God in the process, and how to deal with the unavoidable intersections between the past relationships and your forever relationship.

Spectrumites
Growing up, I felt stupid. Oh, so stupid. Like I didn't fit in. It was as if I'd been dropped in to suburbia from another planet, an alien. Perhaps if I had had a major meltdown I would have flagged the help I desperately needed. But, no, I suffered. I felt so alone, lost. There was no-one else like me. I hid behind a mask and adhered to society norms of being a "male-worker-robot-person" in middle-class society.Fortunately (or not) I was able to mask really well, and hide myself away. I built a life, a job, a house, had a child, all the usual things people aspire to. On the surface, all was normal, I just thought I was different, not less, just different, but didn't know why. I could never understand the way people reacted to me. I was being nice, but still they didn't like me, as if I had hurt someone close to them. (I still don't get this?)My child was diagnosed; "high functioning autism". As many parents will attest, the autism education journey is full of questions and no-answers. I struggled to understand, and got to the point where I had to draw on my abilities as a researcher and self-learner to better understand; Autism, Asperger's, "high-functioning" and the psychology underpinning these various terms. My journey of self-discovery was not at all what I was expecting. Using my research skills I started reading academic papers, books, blogs, and other information sources. This led to many "Ahhh, ooh, aww" moments for me to discount what I was slowly realising. This was not going to be a journey to discover my child, this was a journey to discover myself; inVisible, unSeen, and others like me; inVisible People. The inVisible Generation. Why inVisible? Spectrumites think and process ideas differently, but on the surface society doesn't see this. The things that I and others do differently are hidden from view. We are the Quiet Achievers; running a different operating system in a world built for the 98%. We physically look the same and have the same capabilities, but the way we work under the cover is different. Different, not less. Just Different. With estimates between 1%-2% of the population being on the Autism Spectrum; 1 in 100 Australians, more than 1 in 100 in the UK, and 1 in 59 Americans, an understanding of what this means for tens of millions of people is becoming more and more important. Sadly, I also learnt that adults on the Spectrum are eight to nine times more likely to commit suicide than a neurotypical person, and 28 times more likely to exhibit suicidal thoughts, and this really hit home, because I too had been there. But I survived, and I have my story to tell. Society as a whole should be looking for a way to support and respect each and every individual Spectrumite in their own way.

The Red New Deal When Everything is Free, You are the Price
The Red New Deal: When Everything is Free, You are the Price" is a comparison of current US and world trends toward reconsidering socialism and the realities of everyday life under socialism. Young people of Western democracies no longer have a negative opinion about socialism. This is dangerous. Since they do not know history, they easily vote for candidates with a socialist agenda. Since they take their freedoms and prosperity for granted, they are not moved by theories. This book is designed for people of all ages, to share the real-life accounts of the daily routines, shortages, cancel culture, and a pattern of restricting freedoms from one who lived through it. Dmitri Dubograev grew up in the socialist environment of the USSR. Read carefully his eye-opening analysis of the parallels between "socialist trends" of prior generations and events occuring in the US today. Dmitri shares his real-life stories and the ominous effects under "real-life socialism." Nothing is free. It's imperative that "woke" America wake up before it's too late

Gazing Into Our Crystal Ball
Our philosophies and perils of wisdom related to our lifetime highlights will be shared with the reader in the pages ahead. I, S.L. Sharp, will adorn the chapters with poetry and song lyrics to enhance our philosophies in our book entitled GAZING INTO OUR CRYSTAL BALL. W.R. Sharp, through his written essays, stories and philosophies, will try to give you a glimpse of his many travels, highlights of his science career and stories of his moments with his loved ones which will provide our readers insight into his in-depth knowledge. And hopefully, the stories and expressions of feelings through the reading of my poetry and lyrics, will bring happiness and awareness of beauty to our readership. As my co-author, my brother, W.R. Sharp, wrote in one of his essays, "Welcome to the Eighty-Teens". He too was welcomed to this age by cataracts and dental complications. However, he felt that these golden years should be celebrated as we gaze into our own crystal ball of life. He thinks life is a journey, and it is always spinning as if encapsuled in a fortune-telling crystal ball. It encounters multiple experiences, opportunities, transitions, challenges and obstacles as we march through time toward our afterlife. Nevertheless, life can be quite fulfilling and coming of age is a continuous process facing all of us who live a long life. In this ball, the most important transformations involve coming of age in its earlier stages in one's education, career pathway, partnerships, parenting or mentoring skills of others, post careers, retirement and facing our afterlife. The latter changeover is especially challenging for those without partners and children unless in the crystal ball of life they prospered from self-love and independence. Fortunately, the existence of public and private retirement facilities will accommodate some of these retirees. The two of us have always imagined the existence of an afterlife metaverse as we march forward in our lives. Optimistically, we both hope to be able to learn lessons in the spinning ball from our present lives and accomplishments and in our next life, accomplish all of our unaccomplished earthly goals. Maybe if you, the reader, gaze closer at your own life's crystal ball, you will see that your life turns out the way it was meant to be whether it is happy or sad. Who knows! The magic of it all is that you were able to live on this earth for just a blink of an eye no matter what your real life's experiences were on this life-altering planet. And on the day when you finally transition into the mysterious afterlife, a new window of opportunities will unfold for you to explore that will be overwhelming to you. At that time, you will have the freedom to embrace new possibilities for yourself that were not accessible to you during your existence on this Earth.
The Book of Mothers
"Timely and evergreen, engaging and infuriating, personal and universal--a necessary reintroduction to some of fiction's most familiar mothers." --Cecile Richards, bestselling author of Make Trouble and former president of Planned ParenthoodA smart and engaging look at fifteen classic novels that have shaped our cultural notions of motherhood. Sweet, supportive, dependable, selfless. Long before she had children of her own, journalist Carrie Mullins knew how mothers should behave. But how? Where did these expectations come from--and, more importantly, are they serving the mothers whose lives they shape? Carrie's suspicion, later crystallized while raising two small children, was that our culture's idealization of motherhood was not only painfully limiting but harmful, leaving women to cope with impossible standards--standards rarely created by mothers themselves. To discover how we might talk about motherhood in a more realistic, nuanced, and inclusive way, Carrie turned to literature with memorable maternal figures for answers. Moving through the literary canon--from Pride and Prejudice and Little Women to The Great Gatsby, Beloved, Heartburn, and The Joy Luck Club--Carrie traces the origins of our modern mothering experience. By interrogating the influences of politics, economics, feminism, pop culture, and family life in each text, she identifies the factors that have shaped our prevailing views of motherhood, and puts these classics into conversation with the most urgent issues of the day. Who were these literary mothers, beyond their domestic responsibilities and familial demands? And what lessons do they have for us today--if we choose to listen?

Soiled Diamond
My struggles are real. My story began with a unique awareness of my own existence in this world. Specifically, when I was reflecting after one of many horrific encounters with my adoptive father, Ralph Repost. Or should I say "Mr. Man" as I was commanded to address him (of course, only in private). I am heartbroken but strengthened when revisiting my journal entries. I am thankful because I'm still here. Unfortunately, most entries record years of pain, anguish, confusion, and the hopelessness of abuse as I found myself on a dark, lonely path. Today, I am happy to share I am in a better place. I don't know the conclusion to my story, but I am determined to reach my destiny. As I maneuvered through my teenage years, I finally embraced the truth that the years of heartache and unfathomable pain that I endured was not my fault. The years of abuse that I suffered daily was a result of the sick, perverted actions of a man that only cared about himself and protecting the empire of wealth he had built. He cared more about the 'Repost' name and legacy than he ever cared about me and the pain that he caused. It is still unbelievable to me that I lived the facade as a princess to others, but in reality, it felt like I was living in a dark, cold dungeon. Ironically, I received everything money could buy, except the things I wanted most, love and acceptance. I am thankful to God that therapy is helping me; I am on my way to living life free from the bondage that held me hostage for so long. I must be honest; the uncertainty of my life disturbs my peace as I continue to process the pain. On my quest to be free, I will enjoy a little happiness. My vision for the future will be clearer. And I will find complete healing, which has eluded me for years. This next phase of my life reveals tenacity-because I will never give up, regardless of the many challenges that I still will encounter. I will forever press forward. Please continue with me on this journey I cautiously refer to as my life.

The Nurture Revolution
The latest research in neuroscience and parenting come together in this groundbreaking book, which brings to light new realizations about the power of nurture for our children's mental and physical health outcomes. Greer Kirshenbaum, PhD. is a neuroscientist, doula, and parent. Her work began with the goal of developing new treatments for poor mental health; she dreamed of creating a new medication to address conditions like anxiety, depression, addiction, and chronic stress. Over time, she realized that science had already uncovered a powerful medicine for alleviating mental health struggles, but the answer wasn't a pill. It was a preventative approach: when babies' receive nurturing care in the first three years of life, it builds strong, resilient brains -- brains that are less susceptible to poor mental health. How can parents best set their children up for success? In this revelatory book, Dr. Kirshenbaum makes plain that nurture is a preventative medicine against mental health issues. She challenges the idea that the way to cultivate independence is through letting babies cry it out or sleep alone; instead, the way to raise a confident, securely attached child is to lean in to nurture, to hold your infant as much as you want, support their emotions, engage in back-and-forth conversations, be present and compassionate when your baby is stressed, and share sleep. Research has proven that nurturing experiences transform lives. Nurturing is a gift of resilience and health parents can give the next generation simply by following their instincts to care for their young.

Doing It All
A feminist exploration of single motherhood and a passionate call to reclaim the power of mothering In the United States, one child in five is raised by a single mother. Yet the single mom is still cast as victim or welfare queen, sexually irresponsible or too independent for her own (or her children's) good.    In Doing It All, journalist and single mother Ruby Russell tells a different story, of single mothering not defined by loss but whole and powerful in its own right. She finds narratives of liberation in Victorian brothels and postwar British slums, in Black feminist theory and the grassroots activism of women fighting for welfare rights. Doing It All is a personal quest for empowerment, a fierce critique of the systems that leave single moms marginalized and exhausted, and a call to reclaim mothering as the life force of sustainable, connected, and radically responsible communities.

Prayers for Bobby
At the Press Conference subsequent to his dismantling of the great Boris Spassky of Russia, in Iceland, in 1972, Robert James Fischer proclaimed his intention to, on the one hand, date some girls, and, on the other, to play more games of chess than any of the champions before him had ever done.He was asked, on a talk show, how he felt waking up the next day, having single-handedly taken down the so-called Iron Curtain - the hegemony that was the Soviet Union and the Communist Eastern Bloc. He volunteered that it felt like something had been taken out of him... His raison d'礙tre. I knew Bobby Fischer, between 2007 and 2016, until his passing, in reclusion, at the age of 74. He was never crazy, never Antisemitic, never vengeful, never immodest. He was the Father I never had - and I love him.

Imagine being privy to the diaries of both a 16-year-old girl and her mom! Based on their two-year journal project, Wake Up, Maggie! Go Away, Mom! invites readers into the life of a single mom and her teenage daughter, ushering them through the tangle of feelings that come with this familial bond. The dual entries, peppered with poems by both authors, grant a firsthand look at flashbacks of Carol's recovery from alcohol addiction and subsequent divorce, her imprudent dive into a long-distance romance, and her daily refrains from wringing her daughter's neck, as she dangles precariously from the edge of a menopausal cliff. You'll see her daughter caught in the confusion of school and friends, longing to launch her hovering mom into outer space, who begins her senior year with the attacks of 9/11, trying desperately to hold her fear at bay. Moving from one voice to another, readers eavesdrop on their frequent power struggles, chronic doubts and fears, and humorous ways they wrestle with the grief of letting each other go as they re-negotiate their relationship and move on with their separate lives.
