Heart-Ray Vision
Like Superman using his X-ray vision, Grandpa and his spiritually curious grandson, Charlie, fire up a God-given superpower - Heart-ray vision. An ability to see God on the move with our hearts. This intergenerational story chronicles Charlie's adventure-packed fun at the lake with his grandparents. Charlie captures keepsake photos on his phone of discovered "God Sightings" - real evidence of God's presence and blessing in amazing, extraordinary ways. He learns from Grandpa that God Sightings effectively connect our spiritual life with our everyday life. By using his heart's "eyes," Charlie won't miss the cool things God is doing. Grandpa makes the most of the opportunity to share his faith and speak into the life of young Charlie. The bond between them grows stronger. God rewards them both - Charlie accepts Jesus as his Lord and Savior; Grandpa becomes a key influencer in his budding faith. So, "get your Heart-Ray vision on" with them. See what God is up to next! This is the first book written by Alan Alesius, a new evangelical Christian author. Alan is a previous winner of the Christian Writers Association Short Story Contest sponsored by Xulon Press. Alan's passion for intergenerational sharing of the Christian faith embodies this work. His heart's desire is twofold - that spiritually curious kids seek to know more of God, and that adults seek to share with the next generation God's love, their legacy of faith, and how the Lord has made a difference in their lives. Alan acknowledges the fine artistic talents of dear, longtime friend, Jill Rees, illustrator. Jill's sketches on the chapter title pages of this book bring focus to the content. Illustration captions also provide insight into our amazing and loving God.
All Your Gifts
In 2015, everything changed for Joanne Craven. Her life was just beginning the golden years with her husband Bob. They married on April 16, 1977, in a small town called Itasca in Illinois, at the Bethany Church. Their love was so strong, nothing could break them apart. Love can conquer everything, or so she thought. 2015 - Bob and Joanne had plans to retire soon. Bob was approaching 65 years of age and their children were all grown. They had a beautiful home on a lake that they built on land purchased when the children were young. With two grandchildren and just getting news that a third one was going to be born, they took a trip to Florida to witness the birth of their first grandson, and first boy in the family. Life seemed perfect. But the year 1969 came back to haunt them. The year Bob went to Camp Lejeune for Naval Hospital Corps School. He made wonderful ties with a fellow Corpsman, John H. Swift, and through the years ahead, they corresponded with the hand written letter very seldom used today. 13 letters in all, Joanne found later tucked away together in a drawer. She never could have imagined what those letters would bring to her.

Teachers! How Not to Kill the Spirit in Your ADHD Kids
Sarah Templeton is an English Counsellor, CBT Therapist and Coach who has specialised in ADHD since her own shock diagnosis at the age of fifty-one. Her first book, How Not to Murder Your ADHD Kid - Instead, Learn How to be Your Child's Own ADHD Coach, resonated with mums and dads who, desperate for teachers to understand their children's ADHD brains, started thrusting copies at them! Those same parents encouraged Sarah to write this book for teaching professionals.Sarah understands only too well how big a part teachers and schools play in helping children get the best start in life. She spent eleven years in the English education system, yet nobody identified her moderate-to-severe ADHD, severe dyspraxia, dyscalculia or sensory processing disorder, meaning she failed her 12+ 'spectacularly'!Sarah is now passionate about helping teachers identify and work with these conditions in the classroom. Children who are not diagnosed and treated for their neurodiverse conditions often have a dismal time at school: they know they feel different and don't fit in, but they don't understand why. This can lead them to experiment with drugs or alcohol and fall so easily into a life of addiction, unemployment, homelessness or crime.Working with ADHD children and adolescents for ten years in private practice, Sarah has seen first-hand the road from 'stroppy kid' via 'naughty teen' to 'young offender' and is committed to helping teachers understand their ADHD students before things get out of hand. In this book, Sarah shares her insider knowledge of how ADHD kids' brains really work. She will help you understand their thoughts, actions and behaviours and give you the very best ways of managing ADHD in the classroom, ensuring these kids go on to be the leaders and winners they were born to be.'Sarah gets ADHD brains like no other therapist.' - Dr Helen Read, Psychiatrist, The ADHD Consultancy

Karen provides a raw guide to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a place experienced by many parents but rarely explored narratively. Twenty-three Weeks is a love story between mother and child. It is a reflection on grief and compassion. It is a first person account of our human potential to withstand suffering and find honest acceptance.

Anger Management
Are you sick and tired of having to apologise for overreacting and for accidentally hurting people who are important to you? Are you sick and tired of having to explain yourself?Would you want to find out how to control your anger so it doesn't get the better of you? Would you want to know how to prevent the negative effects of rage from having a physical and mental toll on you? Are you prepared to accept responsibility for your feelings and take action to deal with the issue of anger that you have? If you've given any of these questions a positive response, then this is the book you should read.Keeping all of this in mind, I decided to write this book in the hopes that it would make the material much more accessible to other people who share similar goals and are prepared to break free of destructive patterns of behaviour and stop allowing their emotions to rule their lives.A significant number of people report that they have difficulty adequately managing these unpleasant feelings. People who are unable to recognise and manage their feelings often find themselves trapped in a vicious cycle of emotional upheaval, which leaves them feeling powerless and overwhelmed. It is necessary to recognise that everyone has bad feelings, but knowing how to control them is the key to restoring emotional balance and finding peace inside oneself. While it is essential to recognise that everyone experiences negative emotions, it is also essential to learn how to manage them.
Anger Management
You will become the master of your emotions when you have mastered the ability to cope with anger, both your own and that of other people. When you are able to keep your emotions in check, you will have a much easier time maintaining command in any given circumstance. This book will offer you practical techniques to tune into your feelings and understand why you feel the way you do. It will also show you how to understand why other people feel the way they do. You will get an understanding of the factors that contribute to our occasional irritability, as well as strategies for coping with it.Learning to rein in your rage is essential to not just your physical health but also your mental and emotional well-being as well. The most of the books on anger control that I've read don't address the central issue, which can be quite frustrating. They focus on treating the symptoms rather than the cause. This book will present you with a new understanding of what anger is and where it originates, as well as strong and practical ways that will teach you how to regulate your anger in the most effective manner possible.Do you find that you can't get a handle on your bad feelings too often? If you replied "YES" to any of the questions above, then you should read this book.In the course of travelling through life, we go through a wide range of feelings, some of which are more difficult to manage than others. These include feelings such as rage, anxiety, depression, and stress. These bad sentiments have the potential to throw us off our emotional balance, which in turn may have an impact on our relationships, our career, and our entire well-being.You and your companion will be taken away from the everyday on an eye-opening trip that transcends the banal and into a world of deeper love, trust, and incomparable harmony as you make your way through this ground-breaking masterwork.

Horse Sense from the Heartland
In the words of American humorist and Oklahoma-born heartlander Will Rogers, common sense ain't common. But while the modern world around us may seem to be desperately lacking practicality, wisdom and values, horse sense still reigns supreme in the heartland of the United States. In Horse Sense from the Heartland, author Daniel C Bruch shares his own common sense take on the world in written vignettes which focus on contemporary social concerns and key values. A retired professor and clergyman, Dr Bruch offers timeless examples of common-sense values and virtues from his youth which are as true today as they have ever been. The book exudes a quiet confidence and wisdom, acting as a steadfast guide to the reader. Unlike many public figures who relish in loudly expressing controversial opinions, Dr Bruch concentrates on the issues which really matter, introducing heartland values to a wider audience.
What God Made
Adoption can be one of the greatest and hardest things a person or couple can be called to do. You promise to care for and love a child who cannot be cared for by their birth parents. You have taken the biblical calling to care for orphans personally and love that child no matter what. How can you convey that love when there are so many physically and socially conceived differences between you? This book provides an avenue for conversation with adopted children in a loving and Godly way. The author's hope is that this book will promote adoption and encourage children to know and understand the love that their adoptive parents have for them.
Rattled
A Zibby Owens Summer Reading Pick Most new mothers bring their infants to the doctor but ignore any distressing feelings or sensations they might themselves have--that sense of being "rattled" at many moments throughout the day and night. In Rattled, Dr. Nicole Pensak shares her own experiences and those of her patients to help new mothers feel informed, validated, and guided through matrescence. After giving birth, a woman often feels like a completely different person. It may sound dramatic, but the rollercoaster of physical and psychological changes affects brain and body in a similar way that adolescence changes us. To compound that, many women hide these feelings, worrying that something is wrong with them. Dr. Nicole Pensak is here to reassure us that being "rattled" is normal, and not at all surprising. After all, seismic changes in identity and emotion have occurred. Research shows that a woman's brain shifts in real, biological ways very quickly after giving birth. Many women become hypervigilant, for good reason: the brain is telling her to stay alert because she has a human to keep alive and safe. While these brainpower boosts can cause anxious feelings, they can also help to manage the distress and harness the advantages of the postpartum brain. In fact, this is a time of neuroplasticity, when the brain is more receptive to positive reinforcement.Trained at Yale and Harvard and certified in perinatal mental health, Dr. Pensak provides practical and emotional support, helping to relieve the anxiety and pressure for perfection in motherhood and paving the way for a better beginning for families and babies. She discusses mental health treatment and the upside of therapy during this changing time, and offers accessible scientific information, relatable anecdotes, and strategies for self-care. The result is a reassuring and practical handbook that new mothers and their families will refer to time and again.
Letters to Schnicklefritz

In "Letters to Schnicklefritz", Tony Woods does just that in 27 short chapters, each corresponding to 27 weeks of a child's development in the womb. With each letter comes a fresh understanding of the miracle that is taking place, and how each week brings new reminders of God's Hand at work. This is much more than the story of one life from conception. Schnicklefritz is in fact a part of every baby that was ever born; and if you look close enough you might even see yourself.

Running on Ritalin
In a book as provocative and newsworthy as Listening to Prozac and Driven to Distraction, a physician speaks out on America's epidemic level of diagnoses for attention deficit disorder, and on the drug that has become almost a symbol of our times: Ritalin. In 1997 alone, nearly five million people in the United States were prescribed Ritalin--most of them young children diagnosed with attention deficit disorder. Use of this drug, which is a stimulant related to amphetamine, has increased by 700 percent since 1990. And this phenomenon appears to be uniquely American: 90 percent of the world's Ritalin is used here. Is this a cause for alarm--or simply the case of an effective treatment meeting a newly discovered need? Important medical advance--or drug of abuse, as some critics claim? Lawrence Diller has written the definitive book about this crucial debate--evenhanded, wide-ranging, and intimate in its knowledge of families, schools, and the pressures of our speeded-up society. As a pediatrician and family therapist, he has evaluated hundreds of children, adolescents, and adults for ADD, and he offers crucial information and treatment options for anyone struggling with this problem. Running on Ritalin also throws a spotlight on some of our most fundamental values and goals. What does Ritalin say about the old conundrums of nature vs. nurture, free will vs. responsibility? Is ADD a disability that entitles us to special treatment? If our best is not good enough, can we find motivation and success in a pill? Is there still a place for childhood in the performance-driven America of the late nineties?
THE FLIGHT to FREEDOM
Katrina (Trina) Frierson's story exemplifies redemption. After years of struggling with addiction, Trina experienced life on the streets, periods of homelessness, incarceration, and losing custody of her children. She received the support she needed to establish and maintain her sobriety in order to regain her life. In an effort to pay it forward, Trina felt led to serve women in similar situations. She saw the need for a long-term program that addressed addiction but also offered life-changing support, therapy, and job skills that are crucial to life-long recovery. Trina founded Mending Hearts in 2004. In its infancy, Mending Hearts owned one home and treated seven women. The program has now grown to 15 homes and has served over 5,000 women, becoming a critical resource for treating women in Middle Tennessee. It was essential to Trina to not only help individuals but also to transform her community, and she has played an integral part in revitalizing West Nashville. Trina believes that it is her duty to rebuild a community where she was once part of its demise. Trina has turned inhabitable dwellings into homes filled with hope to bring healing and beautification to her community and the women in it.

Motherhood and the Relationships of the Sexes
"It is now a well-established truism to say that the most injurious influences affecting the physical condition of young children arise from the habits, customs and practices of the people themselves rather than from external surroundings or conditions. The environment of the infant is its mother. Its health and physical fitness are dependent primarily upon her health, her capacity in domesticity, and her knowledge of infant care and management. Thus the fundamental requirement in regard to this particular problem is healthy motherhood and the art and practice of mother-craft. Given a healthy and careful mother we are on the high road to securing a healthy infant; from healthy infancy we may expect healthy childhood, and from healthy childhood may be laid the foundations of a nation's health."
