This book contains Bruce Frederick Cummings' (pseudonym: W. N. P. Barbellion) 1919 work, "The Journal of a Disappointed Man". Hailed by Ronald Blythe as "among the most moving diaries ever created", it is full of astute and frank observations, interesting personal philosophy, and profound introspection. The first edition contains a preface by H. G. Wells, which caused many people think it a work of fiction; however, Well's dispelled this rumour even though the true identity of its author was unknown until his death. A fascinating and unique volume, "The Journal of a Disappointed Man" constitutes a must-read for all lovers of non-fiction and would make for a worthy addition to any collection. Bruce Frederick Cummings (1889 - 919) was an English diarist most famous for this work. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. Home is an illustrated semi-autobiographical journal by artist and author Jeffrey Schweitzer created between 2016 and 2019. During this period the artist spent a significant amount of time rebuilding a 1957 Stearling travel trailer and using it as a mobile studio space in which to work on art projects. The text for this project is essentially a group of very short anecdotes typed with an old typewriter. All of the edits and imperfections in the texts were deliberately left in the book to embrace the informal journal-like quality of the project. Many of the illustrations in this book are very small pen and ink paintings merely a few inches in size. These originals were created using layers of handmade paper varnished together, giving these pieces a dream-like vinete that alludes to the idea of faded memories. When all of this content was brought together to create the book Home, it was organized more in the spirit of a curated exhibition of writing and illustrations only loosely linear but emblematic of a period in time and style shift in the artists production. This is the first time we see the artist typing stories directly onto very small, layered paintings and taking a more informal approach to storytelling
