As he circles closer to finding out what happened to the disappeared geologist, Slater trolls oil industry thugs, tangles with well-armed and tight-lipped witnesses, and digs into the city's wealthy beachside enclaves. Things heat up when one of his targets attempts a frame job. Slater hustles to keep clear of it, all the while drinking way too much, dealing with lowlifes who tend to punch back, and struggling to keep his sex life out of his work.

The Boundary
"Don't touch me like that if you don't mean it." R矇my- One fateful night on the stage of the Royal Opera House, my life was irrevocably changed. Midway through a performance, and in front of thousands of fans, my voice failed me, but instead of giving up, I swore I'd forge a new path. Two years later, my voice was better than ever, and thanks to an old schoolmate, Serge Kuznetsov, I had signed a lucrative contract with the Virginia Opera. It came with many perks, including an alluring personal assistant, Gray Wyatt. I'd kissed Gray, a mistake a boss should never make with an employee. The feeling of his body trembling in my arms, and the moans that came deep from within his chest, played on repeat in my heated imagination. It didn't matter where I was, or what I was doing, the memory of that forbidden kiss haunted me. Gray- When I first moved to Richmond, I envisioned a happy future filled with love and excitement. Instead, my alcoholic boyfriend dumped me, and then I was fired from my crappy retail job, but under very dubious circumstances. I was tempted to throw in the towel, but Lady Luck had one more curveball to throw at me. A new job, as personal assistant to a hypnotic opera singer who made every fiber of my being throb with desire.Insane tension burned between us. I thought it was my imagination, but I'd swear he wanted me too. Whenever I touched R矇my, his skin would flush, and his breathing would become ragged. There was a boundary I longed to cross, but I didn't dare. He was my boss, and I wasn't about to lose my job, because I couldn't keep my hands to myself. Until one fateful night backstage when he blew through that boundary, and I longed for him more than ever. The Boundary is a feverish tale of two men who dared to follow their hearts. It is book five in The Boys of Oregon Hill Series, and it's set in the same world as the bestselling novel Mr. Mouthful. Like the other books in the series, you can read it as a stand-alone novel.

Dion was favored to gain the Master Sommelier title at the world's most prestigious wine competition, but more than a few people are happy to see him gone. Mina Sommer, Jane's childhood friend and the owner of Sisters Cellars, asks Ari to investigate. Ari's romantic assumptions are quickly shattered as she delves into the cutthroat world of winemaking, where suspicion is routine, reputation is coveted, and passion for the drink of goddesses and queens is a motive for murder.
Blind ItemsA (Love) Story
Following the tremendous success of his wickedly funny best seller Boy Culture, Matthew Rettenmund offered up Blind Items: A (Love) Story, an even more complicated - and at times heartbreaking - portrait of modern love.Meet David Greer. He's a wisecracking, thirty-something everyman who's fiercely smart and unapologetically gay. He's also struggling to make a splash as a writer in New York, a goal that seems far off considering his day job as a reluctant copy editor for a slew of porn magazines. His only glimpse into the world of fame and fortune is through the occasional party invites for himself and his loyal buddy Carol Terry from their old friend Warren Junior, a gossip famous for his catty "Off the List" column. At one of these fabulous to-dos, David meets - and falls for - TV hunk Alan Dillinger, superstar of the hit TV show Lifesavers. He's hot, smart, caring, rich, famous and everything else David could want in a man, except for one thing: He's closeted. The ensuing courtship, dripping with scheming agents and publicists, sharklike paparazzi, and a particularly prying gossip columnist, navigates the choppy waters of gay relationships in the '90s. All the while, the story of John Dewey, a kid obsessed with a long-dead gay silent movie romeo - and with his own burgeoning queer identity - unfolds, making waves in this story of gay life in the past, present and future.Rettenmund's second novel, brimming with celebrity cameos and outrageous blind items, is a provocative, witty (love) story that is moving and full of heart, and a poignant period piece with plenty of exclamation-point twists and turns.
The Year of Ice
Brian Malloy's acclaimed debut novel set in Minneapolis in the late 70's, The Year of Ice is the story of a painfully revealing year that threatens to shatter the tenuous bonds between a father and his teenage sonIt is 1978 in the Twin Cities, and Kevin Doyle, a high school senior, is a marginal student in love with keggers, rock and roll, and--unbeknownst to anyone else--a boy in his class with thick eyelashes and a bad attitude. His mother Eileen died two years earlier when her car plunged into the icy waters of the Mississippi River, and since then Kevin's relationship with his father Patrick has become increasingly distant. As lonely women vie for his father's attention, Kevin discovers Patrick's own closely guarded secret: he had planned to abandon his family for another woman. More disturbingly, his mother's death may well have been a suicide, not an accident.Complicating the family dynamic is the constant meddling of Kevin's outspoken Aunt Nora--who will never forgive Patrick for Eileen's death--along with Patrick's inability to stay single for very long. His loyalties divided between his father and his aunt, between his internal reality and his public persona, Kevin is forced to accept his gay identity and reevaluate his notions of family and love as painful truths emerge about both.

Wolf
Begun as a response to a front page photograph illustrating a tragedy that the media quickly sensationalized in the early 2000's, Wolf tells the composite truth of two brothers, a family friend, a father, and a murder. Skeptical of news cycles and the way trials become page-turners, this book forgoes the standards of true crime: quick conclusions and moralistic underpinnings. Instead, motivated by an attempt to extend empathy, its reconstruction unfolds in tones of witness and meditation. What results is a story about the extremities to which deeply unchecked abuse and ongoing trauma can push a family.

For God’s Glory and Man’s HonorHelping Others with Sexual Issues is Risky
Some churches are reluctant to deal with issues involving heterosexuality or homosexuality. Perhaps their ministers and leadership do not have the necessary training needed to relate to people struggling with sexual issues especially involving homosexuality, transgenderism and pedophilia. This novel illustrates what happens when a Christian ministry tries to help individuals with these problems. In the course of doing so there is the risk of harassment, injury or death.Through prayer, group support and the studying of the Bible many individuals can change or modify their self perception and their behaviors. If anyone requires mental health specialization, then he or she is referred to the medical professionals. Otherwise, there still continues to be a spiritual component to overcoming one's unwanted same sex attraction or gender confusion.

The Gay Cookbook
In the sensous sixties, Chef Hogan wrote his Wild and Wacky book. A reprint of the original edition, when the author was decades ahead of his time. The Gay Cookbook is filled with the jokes and innuendo of the time. Even on the frontispiece, in the book's first pages, a line reads "All rights reserved, Mary." An essential part of mid-century campy dialogue, was the use of female nicknames among gay men: Hogan addresses the reader by many, including Myrtle, Mabel, and Mame. The recipes are lengthy and chatty. But while written humorously, the recipes often are complex and cosmopolitan. While his repertoire includes French and American classics, it also features Mexican, Southeast Asian, and Hawaiian recipes. For a guacamole recipe, Hogan gives the basics as avocado, tomatoes, fresh lime, and salt. Those wanting to mix it up can add onion and spices, he writes, but he forbids more variation. "This is an 'original' Mexican recipe," he writes, "before it's been crapped up by some Hollywood or Brooklyn chef."Hogan also explains how to prepare an elaborate rijsttafel buffet, a many-coursed Indonesian banquet with roots in Dutch colonialism. A chili recipe spans several pages and requires hours of cooking.
