The Starfish Island Gang, Mystery of The Beach House is both powerful and entertaining, and a great start to a sequel. Using well-crafted characters and clear dialogues between them, the author puts forth wonderful concepts about faith and what true Christianity is all about. The story is told in first person by Andrew. He, Allen, Lee, Paige (the only girl in the gang), and Michael are long intrigued by an old abandoned beach house that is extremely close to the water's edge. Their adventurous spirits led them to explore the old abandoned beach house. Here they begin to uncover some hidden truths, each member of the gang has a spiritual encounter and discovers they all have special gifts as they learn about the unseen world around them. As they face life challenges, they learn to lean on The Word of God for help. We get to know about the lives of these children, but Andrew's character is drawn a lot more intimately. Charlie is a lovable character once you really get to know him. Charlie's background story will give the readers true insight into how demons have helped mold his behavior. Ms. Martha, the librarian helps these children on their quests to find out who they truly are in Christ Jesus. It is a well-written cogent narrative that presents the themes of responsibility, forgiveness, and friendship perfectly. Further, she has explored the age-old topic of good against evil. Her masterful blend of Christian concepts and literary fiction is well done. Overall, it is a well-grounded Christian fiction book that keeps one engrossed from beginning to end. It serves as a much-needed inspiration to young readers and Christians as well. Seeking to learn the truth about God and to navigate through life in true discernment.

"Growing the Love in Cana of Galilee" is the third book of "The New Way Series." It is based on the first century manuscript "Acts of the Apostles" written by Luke. The first century was a turbulent time of history. Society was changing primarily because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In book one of the series, "Looking Through the Eyes of a Child," you met some of the characters, and in book two, "Hearing the Truth in Cana of Galilee," I imagined how the happenings in Jerusalem began to gradually impact the little village of Cana sixty-five miles to the north. In this book, "Growing the Love in Cana of Galilee," I continue to look at these same characters and watch as they grow to become more like Jesus in how and who they love. The New Way of living caused Orly and Gabriela's love to grow and deepen. As they and their friends followed the New Way, they began to care deeply about those in slavery and treat them in a way that caused others to take notice. This love began to impact the local synagogue and introduced amazing changes. "Growing the Love in Cana of Galilee" explores the internal changes that these young adults experienced as they broke with the traditions of the past and embraced the New Way. Their treatment of slaves was not the only radical transformation. Watch as they learn to love not only people of other beliefs, but also a group who were their political enemies and conquerors. Visualize the new followers of Jesus learning to love others the way Jesus loved. There was no Bible to follow. Yet, step by tiny step the Holy Spirit was teaching them to grow in love. Once I completed writing the first book of the series, "Looking Through the Eyes of a Child," I began to imagine what it must have been like for those children to grow up and become adults in such a turbulent time of history. There was an amazing transformation in society immediately after the death and resurrection of Jesus. Jerusalem was shaken to its very roots by the teachings of Jesus. His New Way of living impacted men vs. women, free men vs. slaves, Jew vs. Gentile, and religion vs. the teachings of Jesus. Cana is a small town located about sixty-five miles north of Jerusalem, yet "Hearing the Truth in Cana of Galilee" explores how the New Way began to impact every aspect of their daily lives. Imagine with me how the citizens of Cana might have heard about the New Way. Visualize the new followers of Jesus learning to listen to Him and follow His instructions. There was no Bible to follow. Word of mouth was the only way the New Way could spread, yet Jesus had predicted that it would spread like wildfire. What would it be like to grow up, fall in love, choose your career, and experience life's journey, impacted by individuals who had actually traveled with Jesus? How would they incorporate what they heard? "Hearing the Truth in Cana of Galilee," Book 2 of "The New Way Series," introduces many of the citizens of the town of Cana. We see God calling some of them to leave Cana in order to share the New Way with others - some sacrificially choosing to remain single and traveling to unknown lands, giving up the comforts of home. Jesus said that He was the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Come with me and see how following the Way impacted these young adults in "Following the Way in Cana of Galilee." Watch as they boldly follow the Way by loving people that were considered their worst enemies - the Romans who ruled their homeland.
