Why won't the mayor allow the nursery man Ross MacAvoy to tear down and destroy the overgrowing vines? What's hiding in the kudzu? As the mystery deepens, Dorie finds most people are like the kudzu, beautiful and polite on the outside, but dead and self-serving on the inside.

Track Lessons
George was a quiet, down to earth guy who loved motorcycle racing and later in life learned to love Jesus. The best of his eighty-three years on earth was 1989, when at fifty-four, he got married, adopted a son, and won the United States Motorcycle Association National Championship for the Harley Davidson 883 Sportster series. Motorcycle racing was the constant in his life. Much of what George learned and much of what he taught came from his experiences on the track. Near the end of his life, his two grandsons pick him up at the nursing home to share a weekend of motorcycle racing. During this weekend, George recounts stories of his 1989 championship season, and other highlights of his life. In Track Lessons, author Charlie Seymour creates a mosaic of events that reveal the character and life of George. Each tile of the mosaic is simple, but the collection of tiles shows how average events lead to a deep, meaningful life filled with family and love.

Jake begins to realize that he has been swept up into the middle of a vicious blood-vengeance against the "rebel". Jake is trapped in the middle. The First Book of Adam and Eve with biblical insights and commentary - 5 of 7 Chapters 53 - 63
PRESENT day controversy that rages around the authenticity of the Scriptures and how human life began on this planet must pause to consider the Adam and Eve story. Where does it come from? What does it mean? The familiar version in Genesis is not the source of this fundamental legend, it is not a spontaneous, Heaven-born account that sprang into place in the Old Testament. It is simply a version, unexcelled perhaps, but a version of a myth or belief or account handed down by word of mouth from generation to generation of mankind-through the incoherent, unrecorded ages of man it came--like an inextinguishable ray of light that ties the time when human life began, with the time when the human mind could express itself and the human hand could write. The First Book of Adam and Eve details the life and times of Adam and Eve after they were expelled from the garden to the time that Cain kills his brother Abel. It tells of Adam and Eve's first dwelling-the Cave of Treasures; their trials and temptations; Satan's many apparitions to them; the birth of Cain, Abel, and their twin sisters; and Cain's love for his beautiful twin sister, Luluwa, whom Adam and Eve wished to join to Abel. This book is considered by many scholars to be part of the "Pseudepigrapha" (soo-duh-pig-ruh-fuh). The "Pseudepigrapha" is a collection of historical biblical works that are considered to befiction. Because of that stigma, this book was not included in the compilation of the Holy Bible. This book is a written history of what happened in the days of Adam and Eve after they were cast out of the garden. Although considered to be pseudepigraphic by some, it carriessignificant meaning and insight into events of that time. It is doubtful that these writings could have survived all the many centuries if there were no substance to them.

White Smoke
he cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church have gathered in Rome for the papal election following the death of the incumbent pope. Torn by internal conflict and with many of its members alienated, the Church faces one of the most serious crises in its history. A coalition of cardinals favors a more moderate and pluralistic style of papal governance, but must contend with shadowy Vatican forces that oppose change and loss of their own power. These forces are determined to destory the coalition's candidate, a gentle and brilliant Spanish scholar. The leader of the coalition is Chicago's wily Sean Cardinal Cronin, aided by his patently indispensable sidekick, Bishop John Blackwood "Blackie" Ryan. A lone assassin stalks the Vatican, his crazed mission: to destroy the next pope as soon as the traditional white smoke issues from the cardinals' meeting room--the Sistine Chapel--followed by the ancient words Habemus papam. Can politics--Chicago style--turn the Catholic Church around? What will happen when the next pope must be chosen? Only Andrew M. Greeley, priest, bestselling novelist, and respected sociologist could have written this blockbuster tale of the forces actually ripping the Church apart, and of the next papal election, when the fate of the entire Catholic Church itself may well hang in the balance.
