Ice Cream for Breakfast
ICE CREAM FOR BREAKFAST is based on real-life events. It's historical fiction with a sense of humor. In the era of silent films, when women were not considered funny, MABEL NORMAND broke barriers as Hollywood's first female comedy superstar. The first woman to act, write and direct comedy films, the first to run her own movie studio. An expert diver, swimmer, race driver, pilot, acrobat, pianist and pie thrower, Mabel is as funny off-screen as on. A newly-minted millionaire, she lavishes herself with furs and diamonds while her generous heart supports needy families. It's the dawn of the Hollywood film industry. A scandalous time of reckless living, wild parties, and Madcap Mabel is in the thick of it. When social reformers begin a vicious crusade against the barbaric behavior of Hollywood, Mabel ends up the "patsy" in a murder she had nothing to do with. ICE CREAM FOR BREAKFAST gives "voice" to Mabel and her fellow silent clowns, Charlie Chaplin, Fatty Arbuckle, Buster Keaton and many others. Once hailed as The Queen of Comedy, ICE CREAM FOR BREAKFAST launches Mabel Normand back to stardom.

Naarlen
"In the Arctic winter Naarlanders sink into unrelenting gloom. Then comes summer. Twenty-four-hour daylight flip-flops Naarlanders between manic optimism and sleep-deprived irritability. Summer is when Naarlanders dissolve into unpredictable temper tantrums." So begins Per Pederson's laugh-out-loud tale of Arctic chaos. Per thinks he's the only sane Naarlander, but every time he tries to help his fellow Naarlanders he leaves a trail of rubble, ruined lives and destroyed romances. Plus, he's easily tempted. He loves his wife, but there's her friend Anne. And there's the lovely Olga, although Olga wants to kill Per. In fact, while half Naarlen think Per's a hero, the other half wants Per dead. And who's on which side keeps changing. It's all rather complicated...

Andrew's First Act
"I'm fine. I'm fine," I say as if repeating myself might make it true. I adjust my bright green tie in the mirror and pat down my hair, hoping the gel will keep it in place. "Listen. Just perform your material like you've practiced. It's all good stuff! I will be waiting for you at the side exit and I'll be watching from the back. You'll do great!" Sunnie tries to assure me, but I detect a nervous tone in her voice. I hear a faint knock and then a young man wearing headphones and holding a clipboard opens the door. "Andrew Masterson. You are on in 20," he announces."I'm going to go." Sunnie gives my arm a tight squeeze. "You've got this!" She flashes me a quick smile and then leaves me to my rushing mind and screaming anxiety. I hear a loud speaker announce my name. "And now, ladies and gentlemen, give a round of applause for our next comedian. Mr. Andrew Masterson."
Making Man
Cobble is a Neanderthal with itchy feet and the mind of an engineer, unlike anyone else in his old-fashioned tribe. Making Man follows his journey as he leaves the village of Boardom behind, taking him through mountains, underground animal lairs and into new landscapes. As with all good prehistoric comedies, there is a mysterious pendant and a healthy dose of talking insects. Fans of Douglas Adams and Sir Terry Pratchett may not enjoy Making Man as much as those esteemed authors, there are fewer elephants and no Vogons after all, but they should enjoy and remember it fondly nonetheless.(2020 Independent Audiobook award finalist)

Young Again
What would it feel like to find your middle-aged self suddenly living back in a college dorm room? Four faculty members at Prairie State College in Minnesota are about to find out after their administration comes up with a bizarre strategy to improve graduation rates - The Faculty Dorm Dweller Program. While the idea seems promising to the administration, it doesn't take long for problems to arise-problems which readers will find appallingly funny, situations they'll find stimulate both empathy and snark. As Johnson says, "It's not so much a fish-out-of-water scenario as it is an older fish returning to a pond she'd lived in years ago."So Juanita Jane Ruckler, a fiftyish English professor, proves that she's not old by having an affair with a nineteen-year-old student. Lyla Benson, recently divorced and thirty-eight, runs into her old college flame and finds herself searching: is there something more than ashes left in that relationship? Bert Rojas, a math professor, is using the program to escape a boring home life with a nagging wife-the woman he's married right after college, back when youth had seemed eternal. As the FDD crew gets to know one another, they provide balance, experience, and understanding to one another. Even fresh-faced and naive young Joy McPherson, assistant professor in Political Science, can sometimes teach her older colleagues-though her own choices seem inexorably wrong. And the students? They're teachers too, in their own inimitable ways.
Cancel Shawn Boston
Rick has been terrified of the internet ever since he accidentally became a meme 5 years ago, when a video of his asshole grandpa totally owning him in a fight went viral. When the coronavirus pandemic of 2020 causes all the year's conventions to shut down, Lindsey is forced to turn to the scary world of e-commerce. After weeks of no sales, Lindsey thinks she's doomed. But when she catches massive internet celebrity Shawn Boston plagiarizing her best friend's art for his new album cover and creates a video exposing him for it, she blows up overnight. Lyssa Strata
A small-town librarian finds her voice and kicks some misogynist butt in the process.Inspired by the classical Greek comedy, Lysistrata, librarian Lyssa Strata has long begged the Town Council of Athena, Massachusetts to repeal its disgusting, old, misogynist, and racist laws, but the Council, an all-male entity for 400 years, has blown her off as a redheaded spinster-who, according to a 1673 law, should legally be run out of town at the end of a musket upon a poor fiscal year. When Lyssa seeks to invade the male bastion as the first woman ever on the Council, the men in charge treat her candidacy as a hilarious joke; that is, until Lyssa leads the women of the town on a sex strike.PRAISE FOR LYSSA STRATA "A wickedly clever, sly take on the Greek classic that will have you rolling in the aisles of your own home as hard as the ancient Greeks rolled in the...aisles? Of their....ancient theaters Whatever, I didn't read the original Aristophanes and neither did you. Save yourself the trouble and read this hilarious reimagination of it instead."-Emily Flake, Saint Nell's Proprietrix & Cartoonist, The New Yorker "If you've ever wondered what it would have been like if Terry Pratchett wrote The Handmaid's Tale, this is the book for you."-Jenny Trout, USA Today and internationally bestselling author "There's a lot to be frustrated about: the pink tax, politics, old white guys. Nelson deftly satirizes local politics and the patriarchy in Lyssa Strata. The ladies of Athena, Massachusetts may cherish a secret, but I don't-read this book."-Brooke Knisley, Your Local Redheaded Succubus. Oh, and Also Writer. "Martti Nelson has created a character in Lyssa the librarian who anyone could love, admire, and relate to-one who has had enough of the BS and does something about it. This novel will make you feel alive, or at least awake."-Jessica Delfino, author of Amazon #1 bestseller Dumb Jokes For Smart Folks "Nelson's deliciously laugh-out-loud funny spin on an ancient Greek tale shreds modern-day sexism with OG feminism."-Marta Acosta, award-winning author of the Casa Dracula series "Fans of Parks and Recreation, rejoice-there's a new Leslie Knope to be found in Martti Nelson's Lyssa Strata. Packed with call backs to the Greek myth on which it's based, this book will make for a satisfying read for any woman who's mad as hell at the patriarchy and isn't going to take it anymore, but also wants a laugh a minute along the way."-Lana Schwartz, author of Build Your Own Romantic Comedy: Pick Your Plot, Meet Your Man, and Direct Your Happily Ever After "Funny and rage-inducing is a tough balance, but Martti Nelson has written a book that is equal parts laugh riot and just plain riot. I want to be Lyssa Strata's best friend!"-Jen Mann, New York Times Bestselling Author of People I Want to Punch in the Throat "Martti Nelson's Lyssa Strata is the funny novel of feminine rage you've been looking for. Between sexist politicians, horrifying laws, and no decent pockets in our clothes, how are the women of everywhere not on strike right now? Don't burn things down IRL; instead, live vicariously with Lyssa and her marauding gang of fed-up women!"-Kristina Wong, Performance Artist, Comedian, and Elected Representative of Koreatown LA

Sorcery And The Art Of Giant Robot Maintenance
This book was a word game that I'd invented. Every month I challenged myself to write 10,000 words of a novel without knowing what would happen next. I would try to think of something funny, something inspired by Terry Pratchett or Douglas Adams and then find a way to get from the last 10,000 words to the funny things I'd thought of. I then uploaded the novel as a 'part work'--which is how Charles Dickens released his novels. You may be familiar with 'part works' as it is how those 'build your own model plane' or 'complete your own encyclopaedia on the marvel universe' etc etc magazines are released. Each month I would upload the new part of the novel and offer the earlier parts for free on amazon for a week. When I did this, this novel reached the top downloaded science-fiction/comedy novel on amazon. When the project ended, I bundled them all together in this collection and now they sit here for sale as 'Sorcery and the Art of Giant Robot Maintenance'. It is both hilarious and irreverent. It's just silly fun. It's raw, unedited. The jokes are coming fast and thick and from the seat of my pants, and the ideas are crazy and raw and silly. I tried to keep it YA level of reading so it was accessible by everyone. It is science fiction comedy chaos set in a world were giant robots, like Voltron and Tranformers, are portrayed as Weapons of Mass Destruction, while wizards are hunted and despised by a madcap planet of aliens. A robotics genius (who is also an outlawed archeologist) and a wizard (who only knows one spell that could kill everyone) team up to save the world from... a group of inept and hilarious little red men. Sometimes it is a sharp satire of modern life that will have you both rolling with laughter, and sitting thrilled on the edge of your seat, sometimes it is full of twists and unexpected surprises, (that took me by surprise) undoubtably it has punchlines and quirks you will never forget. And, in the end, it was fun--and isn't that what life's all about?

After a week of secret dates and healing workshops-and monumental jealous rages-Godfrey invites Or to southern India, where he has for so long wanted to paint his magnum opus. And which just happens to be at the very top of Alexandra Wishart's bucket list. India! Land of ancient temples! Painted elephants! Insufferable smells! The Creative Art of Wishfulness' is the new comedy novel from the author of 'Exquisite Hours', 'Grieve', and 'To Save a Forest Virgin'.

Here We Go Loop De Loop
"Put me in a car with Bill Sibley on a road trip across the nation and everything will be just fine. His spectacular voice, his aptitude for creating instantly indelible characters in richly funny scenes, his perfect pacing and splendid particularity are dazzling and hypnotic. Storyteller supreme! Here We Go Loop De Loop lifted my mood entirely." - Naomi Shihab Nye, Young People's Poet Laureate, Poetry Foundation"Wonderful example of generous escapism and a book to be recommended."- Kirkus Reviews"A satirical small-town Texas comedy with welcome, surprising heart. Sibley's boisterous comic novel blends small-town satire and humanist warmth as it unspools its tales of isolated people learning to love. His prose is sharp and evocative. At its best, Here We Go... finds these snared coyotes daring to find new ways to love." - Booklife"Larry McMurtry meets A Midsummer Night's Dream. This is Sibley's best yet - a rollicking screwball comedy with a heart as big as Texas."- Steven L. Davis, Author, Past President, Texas Institute of Letters---A cowboy, an heiress, her brother's husband...and a badass 72 Mercury Montego. This is the story of a her loving a him - who's in love with another him - and that other him enduring an unrequited love for the original her. With a small-town Texas appreciation, this book is replete with humor, adversity, and the tenacity of survivors unwilling and unable to acknowledge defeat. Here We Go Loop De Loop by William Jack Sibley has greed, lust, sexuality, spiritual enlightenment, more lust, xenophobia, and the meaning of a life worth living, all woven into a single, outrageous knot in the insulated town of Rita Blanca, Texas. The author, a fifth-generation Texan and a resolute seeker of wisdom, truth, and the occasional virtuosic lie, with humor and reflection, has wrought a story of humanity through characters doing the best they can - just not terribly well.

Hired Killer
Sometimes it's safer to stay dead-it's easier to dig for the truth. I've got a man handcuffed to my bed. I'm Harper Finn, legit business owner. But I picked up a ringing phone that wasn't mine and...well, I'm now involved. Sure, Grey Walker, six feet of blue-eyed hotness, will gripe about me kidnapping him when he wakes up. But I couldn't just let the ex-cop fall prey to a hit someone took out on him. Trust me, with people setting him up to take the fall for an infamous murder, he's better off pretending to be dead for a while. In south Florida, it's easier than you might think. And as we dig for the truth, we have to be careful not to wind up at the bottom of Biscayne Bay.
The Many Fentanyl Addicted Wraiths of Sault Sainte Marie
"I took the second pill. Some relief but not what I'd anticipated. I took the third, overdosed, and that was it for me as a corporeal, living, and breathing human being upon this too sad earth." So succumbs thirty-year-old unemployed writer and hopeless romantic Tom Astaire to an overdose in the opening pages of Michael Sauve's newest novel-a bizarrely upbeat romp through the horrors of being phantasmal, OxyContin-addicted, and trapped in the post-industrial blight of small-town Ontario. As nineteenth-century specters like the historian Sir Edward Capp insist on Sault Sainte Marie's glorious past, Tom and his fellow wraiths plot to avenge their border town's full-blown opioid crisis and unwittingly unleash a chain of apocalyptic supernatural events that leads to imminent geological disaster and the calamitous ascendancy of a cretinous neo-Nazi group called the "Titans of Thor." With its surreally deadpan depiction of a society at rock bottom, The Many Fentanyl Addicted Wraiths of Sault Sainte Marie is a startling and exuberant effusion on nostalgia, memory, and the hopes that outlive us.

My Man Jeeves
My Man Jeeves by P.G Wodehouse is a collection of comedic work featuring three of Wodehouse's famous characters. Bertie is an idle rich man, who is always ready to help his friends. However, he would never be able to do so without the help of his odd but intelligent valet, Jeeves. Said to be the prototype for Bertie, Reggie Pepper is also rich Englishman dedicated to assisting his friends, however, unlike Bertie, he often has to act as the brains in any situation he is in, as he does not have a useful assistant like Jeeves. This collection of stories is split between these characters: four feature Bertie and Jeeves while the other half focuses on Reggie. Leave it to Jeeves, the first story in the collection, follows Bertie and Jeeves' adventures in America. When one of Bertie's friends request help convincing his uncle to accept his soon-to-be bride, Jeeves and Bertie are happy to supply a plan. However, the situation becomes complicated when their scheme leads to the uncle liking the young woman a little too much. Much like the introductory story, Jeeves and the Hardboiled Egg depicts the strange circumstances the duo finds themselves in. In attempt to help Bertie's friend, Bicky, out of a tough financial situation after lying to his uncle, Jeeves concocts a plan involving a chicken farm and a convention of Americans. In a similar spirit of silly unconventionality, Reggie Pepper assists his forgetful friend, Bobby, in Absent Treatment. When Bobby's wife, Mary, declares that she will not see Bobby until he can remember her birthday, Bobby and Reggie investigate astrogeology and scour through their records to discover her birthdate. Described as witty and heart-warming, My Man Jeeves by P.G Wodehouse is a timeless classic perfect for anyone in need of a good laugh. With well developed, good-natured characters, My Man Jeeves provides an escape into simple comedy. This edition of P.G Wodehouse's My Man Jeeves features a striking new cover design and is printed in a stylish font, making it both readable and modern.
