The First Step, Hi’ Steppin’
It is a story of a young man, Paul Undres who on the day of 9/11 seeks shelter from unabated crack usage at the Tampa VA. He is delusional and rather than listen he reads from his personal journal his concerns to the admitting psychiatrist and later to others that cross his path. From the Tampa VA he is transferred to a temporary housing facility, SafePlace, where he awaits an opening into a rehab center called Avon Park. At SafePlace he experiences a gun suicide by his roommate who has read too much of Paul's journal for his own good. In between the VA and SafePlace, he manages to go home before Avon Park and use crack one more time to get his monies worth. In the end, he is kicked out of Avon Park because he bums too many cigarettes and doesn't dig the program, but not before he makes a commitment to try recovery. The book ends with a rather cavalier approach to AA that works. The book closes with the blacks apologizing for all the bad dope they gave him and offer him one of their best girls as a token to which music is played as they HI' Step in true AA fashion.

Die Auswahl der 羹ber 120 Songs erfolgte 羹brigens nach dem Grundprinzip des Lebens, also vollkommen willk羹rlich, keinem Schema folgend, zuf瓣llig, ja manchmal sogar chaotisch und trifft ganz sicher nicht jedermanns Geschmack. Wie so Vieles im Leben ist dieser Soundtrack auch f羹r mich kein Wunschkonzert, aber daf羹r macht er m瓣chtig Laune...

Yes indeed, a little surprise visitor at the "happy" celebration following the "wonderful" wedding had turned things upside down. But, don't frown too much. Life goes on. That quite obviously is exactly what has happily happened to Sonny. And he is ready to move on. But not alone. Yes, there is a wedding. Although not where the previous wedding was held, nor attended by familiar fairy tale characters and mythical beings, etc., but rather by . . . odd others. Sonny runs into fantastic good fortune. But, he doesn't let it get him too swell-headed. As things settle down, and most relationships get back to near normal, it is decided to look up the sorcerer once again. This time he offers experiences relating to our "five fabulous, fascinating senses." After somehow surviving them all, a visit is made to the castle of Vincent da Leonard. The place pays tribute to a certain Italian artist from the 14 and 1500's. Things don't go well for Sonny's wife. However, by the time the visit to the castle is over, the sorcerer has four more adventures in mind, which maybe could happen in many parts of the universe, like "on land, in water and air, and also under the land." Later on a visit is made to a powerful entity who is involved with absolutely everything in the universe . . . Father Time himself. There are other visits, with the final one being to the "totally unseen, unknown place assumed to be next to the far away land." Things are unusual and unexpected. After hastily returning, everyone is fine, but those same two words quite soon apply to Sonny's and another astronaut's lives. However, not to worry . . . . .
