Potomac Princess

Ingram 出版
2020/08/01 出版

A page-turning story about a presidential election campaign with more than its share of twists, turns, and surprises.Kati Case is 37 and in her third term in the House of Representatives. Four years before, she masterminded her widower father's unsuccessful campaign for the presidency but nonetheless saw him appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court as a consolation prize. Now, she's trying again, promoting the candidacy of handsome Senator and former Hollywood studio executive Wilson Burnett, not only Kati's chosen candidate, but her bed-mate as well. But Kati - described by the press as having "movie-star looks" and called, to her annoyance, "Princess of the Potomac" - has an uphill fight. First, Senator Burnett needs to wrest the nomination from the incumbent, the bumbling President Bromwell, who is even worse than he seems. If the Senator succeeds, there's still the opposing party's candidate to overcome. All the while, Kati has a to deal with her own ambitions, anxieties and reservations about what she's doing, as well as her significant relationship issues. Written in a breezy style with crisp dialogue and populated by a colorful group of Capitol characters, including a politically in-touch news reporter; his pretty, surprising, and fast-talking new girl friend; a good-looking Congressman from the other party who's hot for Kati; a dirt-bag fixer who serves as the incumbent president's right-hand man; and a reluctant ten-term African-American congressman persuaded by Kati into joining the campaign team, this is a story of a presidential election unlike any we've seen.

The ActivistsTheActivists

Rainer,Link  著
Ingram 出版
2020/07/01 出版

Rats and Frauds Beware--Activists Are Coming to Save Democracy Four young activists, Izzy, Zoom, Roxy, and Fritz, make it their mission to agitate against the decay of democracy. In their travels to New York, Washington DC, and through the heartland, they confront our political frauds and the fools who voted for them. When they become the target of violence in a rural town, they engage the community and find creative and entertaining ways to shake citizens out of their narrow-minded lethargy. Rats and frauds beware. The activists in this political fairy tale participate in a variety of whimsical events: A figure reminiscent of the Pied Piper entices frauds to march as rats into the Potomac River; an artist paints a portrait of the wannabe dictator and incorporates the hues from a donkey's ass; and ticks find their way onto the scalps of white nationalists. The Activists confronts the turmoil in America with satire, bits of magic, drumming, art, rhyming, and political theater. Similar to the Parkland activists and the likes of Greta Thunberg, the novel's protagonists are passionate about the future and take action. If you want political change, you will find this novel stimulating and amusing.

American Snowflake

Roman,Drake  著
Ingram 出版
2020/07/01 出版

American Snowflake is a novel set in real time, as Socialist Democrat and Fidel-Castro-T-shirt-wearing millennial Roland Dark begins waking up to the truth about the Democratic Party and the fake news propaganda. It's the election year of 2016, and in Los Angeles, California, the only thing that's certain is that capitalism is over and Bernie Sanders will soon be president of the United States. Hooray for socialism! Everything will be free! America will soon be the socialist utopia that Roland Dark and all his friends have always dreamed of: no one will have a job, and money will rain down from airplanes the government flies over every city. But then Roland's nightmare happens: Donald J. Trump becomes president of the United States. Trump is like . . . oh my gosh . . . like so bad. Los Angeles quickly becomes an unhinged hotbed of radical protesters who haven't showered. Soon after, very bizarre woke rules begin to take shape, and they're starting to drive outspoken Roland Dark insane. Roland's filmmaking colleagues are convinced Trump is a Russian spy, and no one is allowed to say otherwise or they will be thrown off the set. Roland's feminist socialist neighbor is convinced she's being oppressed by something strange called toxic masculinity. Roland's friends who are "people of color" can't stop arguing about who's more oppressed by white privilege. As Roland begins to discover within his inner circles very odd beliefs, which seem to stem from the policies of the Obama administration, he begins looking at his own inner beliefs, and he begins to wonder if he's just as crazy as all of them. He then begins to wonder if everything CAN be free. Communist uprisings have caused devastation in countries such as Cambodia, which just so happens to be where Roland Dark's girlfriend Hong immigrated from. "But surely that wasn't real socialism. Surely it will work here in America," Roland keeps telling himself. As the violent and incredibly delusional behavior of so-called liberals all around him grows, he still just can't seem to understand how anyone could have ever voted for Trump in 2016. The economy will collapse at any moment. Or at least that's what the media keep saying. Roland can't seem to understand why so much money is constantly falling out of his pockets, and why the economy keeps skyrocketing with Trump's deregulation and America First trade policies. It's almost as if freedom and capitalism work, which is odd, because all of the mainstream media said they didn't for all of Roland's life. It's almost as if it's all been fake news the whole time. Still, Roland Dark is steadfast in his beliefs that we are all just slaves to our corporate masters, and all of his friends keep reminding him of these beliefs, given that he wrote his first book, American Slave, about that very same theory. Surely Roland Dark and other brilliant geniuses like Michael Moore are the ones who are right, and it's the Trump supporters who are crazy. As Roland Dark's world begins to unravel, someone from his San Francisco past pops back up into his life. If you really want to know who and what has been causing the division, radicalization, and delusion in America, read this book. But be forewarned that it might just make you end up being a MAGA-hat-wearing, America-loving, Trump-supporting conservative, like its author. This is NOT fake news! Make America Great Again 2020!

Ritchie's life is shadowed by the death of his wife, Cat, in a car accident twenty-two years previously. He was the driver. He loves his children - Nic, who is bi-polar and often impulsive, and Jack. Both are active in the campaign to welcome asylum-seekers and refugees to Britain. His life comes to a crisis as he realises how much his children despise his trade in advertising and how much the loss of Cat still means to them all. This earns him the respect of his children but brings him to the attention of Makepeace, the populist Home Secretary. Nic, his daughter, strives to show she can overcome her disorder. She infiltrates a people-trafficking gang but is arrested as a criminal. Makepeace uses this to blackmail Ritchie to help him in his political schemes. Ritchie is horrified to discover that his task is to sell the reintroduction of forced labour, modern slavery, to the public. As a result he is once again rejected by his children. Ritchie has reached rock bottom. He is desolate but believes he can outsmart Makepeace. Blood Ties shows how he finally resolves the situation, embraces the causes his children hold dear and reunites his family.

The Valley of DecisionTheValley of Decision

Edith Wharton (born Edith Newbold Jones; January 24, 1862 - August 11, 1937) was an American novelist, short story writer, and designer. Wharton drew upon her insider's knowledge of the upper class New York "aristocracy" to realistically portray the lives and morals of the Gilded Age. In 1921, she became the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Literature. She was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1996. Despite not publishing her first novel until she was forty, Wharton became an extraordinarily productive writer. In addition to her 15 novels, seven novellas, and eighty-five short stories, she published poetry, books on design, travel, literary and cultural criticism, and a memoir. In 1873, Wharton wrote a short story and gave it to her mother to read. Her mother criticized the story, so Wharton decided to just write poetry. While she constantly sought her mother's approval and love, it was rare that she received either. From the start, the relationship with her mother was a troubled one. Before she was 15, she wrote Fast and Loose (1877). In her youth, she wrote about society. Her central themes came from her experiences with her parents. She was very critical of her work and wrote public reviews criticizing it. She also wrote about her own experiences with life. "Intense Love's Utterance" is a poem written about Henry Stevens. In 1901, Wharton wrote a two-act play called Man of Genius. This play was about an English man who was having an affair with his secretary. The play was rehearsed but was never produced. Another 1901 play, The Shadow of a Doubt, which also came close to being staged but fell through, was thought to be lost, until it was discovered in 2017. Its world premiere was a radio adaptation broadcast on BBC Radio 3 in 2018. She collaborated with Marie Tempest to write another play, but the two only completed four acts before Marie decided she was no longer interested in costume plays. One of her earliest literary endeavors (1902) was the translation of the play, Es Lebe das Leben ("The Joy of Living"), by Hermann Sudermann. The Joy of Living was criticized for its name because the heroine swallows poison at the end, and was a short-lived Broadway production. It was, however, a successful book. Many of Wharton's novels are characterized by subtle use of dramatic irony. Having grown up in upper-class, late-19th-century society, Wharton became one of its most astute critics, in such works as The House of Mirth and The Age of Innocence. (wikipedia.org)

Forced to hypnotise the head warden, Officer Newport, and Riley the governor, as a precaution, Paul begs Ian to include Ox and Chan in the release scheme. Dr Min has asked Sir Edward for a return favour for keeping the minister's brother out of prison, so Ian finds he's then laboured with an assistant, Dr Min's daughter, Mai Li. The governor receives a call from Sir Martin Dupont, his friend in Counter-intelligence, asking if he could take some suspected terrorist and use some unethical interrogation techniques to gain information on their targets. But most of the suspects have had their tongues cut out, and all but one that can talk is sick and taken to the prison hospital. Fat Fingers, by some coincidence after a raid on his cell and becoming ill, is also in hospital. The new prisoner, Izsa Madas, a Yemeni seemed to have somehow planned the encounter and asks him to help locate some processor chips, lost since the meltdown of Microsoft that Madas has plans for. Catalogue Diabolique

Ingram 出版
2020/07/01 出版

In the vein of Goethe's Der Zauberlehrling, Vignjevic's Catalogue Diabolique is a fantastical tale of Mata Gradinar, a newly appointed Pedagogical Faculty post-doc whose well-received graduate paper throws him into a world of secrets revealed by his work. This all starts when he goes to the bookbinders to pick up his finished work where instead he finds that - although the book has been bound - there is no text on the pages. At first confused to the point of not even protesting, Mata Gradinar discovers that he has more than empty pages in his hands, but rather a catalog of empty pages that allows him to discover all the wrongdoers in his society. Mata then embarks to uncover all with the help of his best friend Eroneous Petroneus. At first Mata Gradinar is extremely careful what he writes in the book, since everything he writes within it reveals the deep history, and possible future of that subject. As the tale develops so does Mata's curiosity with regard to his wanting to rid his society of all evil doing, primarily by exposing the vast corruption that surrounds him.The story in the book has been carefully chosen by the author to emphasize the length to which corruption can spread in any given society, thereby diminishing the value that the same society puts on human life.

2nd Edition, updated for 2020A highly respected Westchester psychotherapist is murdered. A vast cover up ensues involving corrupt politicians, mobsters, and police. When the investigation hits a wall of legal roadblocks, the doctor's son, also a therapist, initiates his own harrowing investigation that carries him from Westchester to the Hamptons, Saratoga, and Lake George. The cover up leads to other murders before the arrogant halls of political power and corruption begin to crumble in a crescendo of sexual desire, intrigue, violence and vengeance. During the investigation our protagonist meets a vivacious woman, falls in love, and takes on the responsibilities of a new family. Against the backdrop of today's cultural conflicts and madness, he reaffirms the values of love and life, over those of hatred and death.

The Fall of President TweetTheFall of President Tweet

John F,Hurst  著
Ingram 出版
2020/07/01 出版

Having been defeated in his bid for a third presidential term, Steven Beck decides to seize power, setting off a chain of events that forces the nation's First Lady and Vice President to undertake extreme measures. The tale of a president who refuses to leave the office, John. F. Hurst's political satire, The Fall of President Tweet, is a poignant reminder that absolute power corrupts, and that drastic times call for drastic measures.About the AuthorThough originally from New York City, John F. Hurst moved to the Bay Area some 20 years ago to undertake a Doctorate in psychology. He has since come to see the Bay Area as his home and has built a career as a freelance actor, writer, and occasional singer. Political activism has long been Hurst's passion, and penning a political satire that addresses the nation's descent towards madness is an act of political activism. When he's not trying to raise people's consciousness through the creative process, he reads, sings opera, and reads voraciously. He loves Italian food, chocolate, and great literature.

Proportional Response

Stefan,Vucak  著
Ingram 出版
2020/06/24 出版

The Chinese populist Tuanpai faction is dissatisfied with the rapid pace of change by the elitist princeling coalition to transform the country into a full market economy. The Tuanpai embark on an audacious plan to trigger a global disaster that will bring down the princelings and humble America. In the aftermath, America identifies China as the culprit, but doesn't know if this was a rogue operation or a government sponsored plot. The Chinese president knows the perpetrators, but has no proof. Fearful of American retaliation, he invites U.S. investigators to help him find proof while outraged countries apply economic sanctions. Under a cloud of mutual suspicion, the investigation stumbles and America readies itself for a military confrontation. This is a mind-bending expose of international politics and distrust between two vastly different cultures.

The Flying Inn

Ingram 出版
2020/06/22 出版

Chesterton's The Flying Inn is a story of adventure that will capture both new readers and old fans. In this England, a "progressive" political party has pushed in a new prohibition era, where the rich can buy alcohol at a steep price for "medicinal" reasons. These restrictions leave a pub owner named Humphrey Pump empty handed. He comes up with a plan: he roams the country with a donkey-pulled cart, affectionately named "The Flying Inn", with his friend Captain Partick Dalroy. With clever tactics, they are able to exploit various loopholes in the new law to avoid being arrested during Prohibition.Chesterton's magical storytelling, coupled with his criticism of 20th century classism and politics, makes The Flying Inn much more than a simple tale of friendship and adventure. With poems and songs that come from the Temperance movement and characters that will have you rolling with laughter, The Flying Inn is the perfect novel for those who want a lighthearted, entertaining read that questions the boundaries of the Victorian era classes.

Poetry for a PandemicVictoria R. Crosby hadn't planned on writing another political poetry book, however, after staying at home due to the Corona Virus, more poems were inevitable. These poems are anger in action, inspired by the incompetence and continued mismanagement of the virus crisis by the current US administration. Instead of marching and demonstrating, Victoria uses the power of the pen, or in this case the keyboard, to express her outrage, once again using satirical humor, photos and quotes from the famous and the infamous.2020 Hindsight was written in March and April of 2020, so Victoria takes no responsibility for any insanity that probably will occur during the following months of the year. The is Victoria's second political satire book, having penned "America; Wake Up!" published in December of 2019, available on Amazon.

Utopia

Thomas,Morus  著
Ingram 出版
2020/06/01 出版

All das, was unseren heutigen Politikern fehlt. Deshalb sei gerade ihnen die Lekt羹re von Utopia w瓣rmstens empfohlen.

How it began... During World War II, a very exclusive group of people would soon convene at a site known only to them. The overall insanity of WWII made them much more valuable because they wanted to put an end to the war. These people had power beyond imagination. They could influence, control, and even bring down any form of government on the face of the earth. Prolific in the fields of law, finance, religion, and medicine, they were strong but remained secluded for their own security. However, due to the events occurring in Europe, they could not be complacent any longer. The time had come for them to join forces for the survival of the world. They knew about each other. They had read about each other. They knew they had to join powers, knowledge, and expertise to stop the world from destroying itself. The Elite Global Government was formed.

CosconnaThe Return of an Angry Goddess

Ingram 出版
2020/06/01 出版

In this cautionary tale for our times, Cosconna - Cosmic Consciousness - newly emboldened by the latest discoveries of astrophysicists, is summoned into existence by the mind of the author. Cosconna returns to Earth in a bid to save her favourite planet. She is angry with God for His incompetence in allowing the Earth to fall into ruin, and she is exasperated with His followers - belligerent war-mongers and avaricious entrepreneurs - who plunder her planet. High on her agenda is to call a halt to men's habitual mistreatment of her human sisters. In provocative conversations that roam from the bedroom to the boundaries of the mind, from the latest in current events to the utmost limits of the universe, Cosconna and the author discuss with verve, wit and concern what has gone wrong with the world, and how Cosconna, now a goddess again, intends to put things right.Ultimately, Cosconna encourages God to vacate Heaven and go on a spiritual retreat. With Him go many of the self-aggrandizing ideas with which patriarchal philosophers, politicians and theologians have cluttered human heads for the last few thousand years. "We men have run the world and we have made a hash of it," says Andrew Malleson. "I believe it is now women's turn."About the Author: Andrew is the second of two boys born in London, UK, to Miles and Joan Malleson. Miles was an actor, film script writer and social commentator. His play, 'Yours Unfaithfully', banned in Britain when he wrote it 80 years ago was premiered NYC three years ago. Joan, an active feminist ran a medical practice in the middle of Red Light District specializing in the sexual difficulties of women. She was the first to teach contraception to medical students, and when one of her patients, a fourteen-year-old girl, became pregnant after being raped by four soldiers, arranged for her abortion, and following a landmark trial, law was changed in Britain and her then empire to allow for abortion to protect the mental health of a pregnant woman.Andrew trained in medicine at Guys Hospital and holds specialist qualifications in both internal medicine and psychiatry. He worked as a psychotherapist. He settled in Canada when he married Donna Stewart, a Canadian psychiatrist, the first person in the world to hold a chair in Women's Health. The couple have a son Michael, who is a Crown lawyer prosecuting environmental offences. Andrew wrote, 'Need Your Doctor Be So Useless?', a study of Britain's NHS, published in the US as 'The Medical Runaround', and 'Whiplash And Other Useful Illnesses, ' a study of doctor and lawyer created diseases, published by McGill-Queen's University Pres

Code WordCowgirl: A Maggie O’Shea Mystery

Ingram 出版
2020/05/01 出版

Maggie O'Shea, a Boston attorney, private investigator and New Age designer, with a knack for having trouble find her, lands in the middle of an Asian conspiracy to dominate the world when a former lover sends her an encoded computer disk a few hours before his inexplicable death. Maggie knew little of Dai toa Kyoei-ken (the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere), the justification for Japan's "anti-colonial" onslaught into Asia 60 years earlier, until Commander Nick Adams, an intelligence analyst at the Naval War College in Newport, RI, is found floating lifeless under the Newport Bridge. Returning to her native Newport, Maggie finds that local authorities and politicians, the FBI, Naval Intelligence and the Naval Investigative Service have so bungled their investigation of Nick's apparent suicide the truth might never be known. It occurs to her that someone might want it that way. Maggie's twin sister, Michaela, sheds more light and darkness on Nick's death by implicating her ex-husband, Bobby Nathan. Nathan owns a fleet of fishing boats, a trucking company, has Mafia connections in New York's Fulton Market and is suspected of running drugs as well as fresh fish up and down the east coast and to Japan via Fukihara San, a New York import/export agent. Filling in for Michaela on a blind date, Maggie meets Tom Charles, a technical writer for a defense contractor and is attracted to him immediately. Tom, a computer hack, offers to help Maggie decode the disk once she has it, but there's a problem. Tom had an affair with the late Commander's Japanese wife, Kazuko, and, either through accident or by design, he allowed her to obtain some sensitive information on the TOMAHAWK and TRIDENT guidance systems. Maggie wonders if her new love is all he seems to be. The group of Japanese fanatics behind the conspiracy is not satisfied with economic domination; they now plan to subjugate the West militarily by infecting our tactical and strategic weapons systems with a computer virus embedded in software manufactured by Japanese owned/controlled companies that supply chips to the US military. But the Japanese seem to be only a little more competent than the American authorities who are trying to unravel their plan. Mistaking her for Maggie, members of the group abduct Michaela, sweep her away to New York, where Fukihara San tries to force her to turn over the disk and code word. Michaela knows nothing about the disk, but is clever enough to realize she must assume Maggie's identity to save her own skin. Maggie realizes too that she must assume the identity of Michaela to protect her sister. In the process, each twin not only discovers how her other half lives, but how her twin thinks and feels as well. This is an illuminating experience for both twins because Maggie has always gotten by on her brains, whereas, Michaela, with two broken marriages in her past, has always been treated as an object of desire. It is in Michaela's shoes, that Maggie receives a marriage proposal from a powerful U.S. Senator, a man who may very well hold the key to Nick's death and Michaela's salvation. Romance, humor, subversion, murder and incompetence attend Maggie in her attempt to save her own life, that of her sister, and the destiny of her country.

Ginnels in the Hedges

Ingram 出版
2020/05/01 出版

Ginnels in the Hedges is a book of short stories with each narrative happening in a different setting and in a different time. The stories' genres differ from drama, to romance, action, politics and crime, and some of the narratives are weaved in a historical event that truly happened. Ginnels in the hedges is a metaphor the author uses to reveal how lives are unknowingly allied across people and across time. So whether a heist is taking place in England, a runaway girl is falling in love, or someone is caught up in the middle of a protest in Korea, the characters have their butterfly effect on each other's lives.

Crypto Citizens

Teja,Ed  著
Ingram 出版
2020/04/01 出版

"In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act." - George OrwellWith incredible speed our world moved from disconnected villages to a global network - one owned by the power brokers. The consequences couldn't be foreseen. This is the second book of the Bitpats, a revolutionary group working to preserve the right, the ability to stay out of sight. In a world dominated and driven by data, the digitization of information we didn't even know was important, the big players not only know where we are but they can make reasonable guesses about what we do next... what products we will buy, what cause we will support. This changing world makes even silence into a statement. Where people once could recreate themselves and start fresh, that opportunity is gone. Digital footprints never disappear... no tide of time sweeps in to wash them away. The new tools are double edged, however, and Tricia Campbell finds a new lease on life by turning the system on itself. Joining forces with Joshua Raintree, a financial analyst, and Kenny Lu, a technical wizard, she helps clients thread their way through the web of online identities and biometrics that were created to close the loopholes. They create what Tricia terms "crypto citizens" - using the tools created to track citizens to free them, to release them through the cracks that still exist in the web of global data. They find the ways and places a person can hide their identity while moving about freely in a world characterized by sophisticated surveillance. The Bitpats, led by Boone, work with them, as this pro-freedom group understands why, the harder it gets to disappear from sight, the more important it is to do it. This is a war novel; it involves conflicts that are at once political, economic, technological, and philosophical. It poses an existential question: Does a government or agency have the right to hold citizens under constant scrutiny? This is story of grand passions, both good and bad; a story of the haphazard application of technology, which is indifferent to the morals of the people or group applying it; it's a story of a struggle to remain human in an increasingly inhuman world.
