The Mission
It was such an embarrassing campaign that I was relieved to be leaving this planet. Four months in space might give me a chance to clear my head and dismiss thoughts of the nastiest campaign since the 1992 race when Lee Atwater pilloried Willie Horton in order to destroy Michael Dukakis and elect George H.W. Bush.

The Manufactured Messiah
Profitable. Powerful. Possible.Bristol sighed as the server placed his drink on a cocktail napkin, then turned her attention to another table. "You don't think setting up HUSH offices, giving money to politicians around the word, and funding pet media project is extreme in the least? Good God! This is about more than GFI's grab for financial power in a global market! Do you have any idea who these people are," Eddie asked, his voice an urgent whisper.Which people are you referring to? GFI? Politicians? Who? Setting up HUSH offices is going to help the communities they're in, as well as provide political clout to put people in office who are favorable to GFI. As far as the media goes, you need them to help promote the plans, as well as people who favor GFI. How else can GFI get an edge up on the competition? I think you're over-reacting, Eddie. I really do . . ."A three-book trilogy in one novel, Barrett E. McKinnon's political thriller, the Manufactured Messiah, transports readers to a world where a handshake means nothing, promises remain empty, and political aspirations are only for personal gain. McKinnon weaves a story like no other-eerily personal. Politically profitable. Painfully possible.

Freedom Is a Feast
Winner of the Westport Prize for Literature A multigenerational, Latin American saga of love and revolution in which a rebel who commits a youthful betrayal receives a late-life chance at redemption and a new life: "a tour de force" from "the new master" (Luis Alberto Urrea, New York Times bestselling author of Good Night, Irene). In 1964, Stanislavo, a zealous young man devoted to his ideals, turns his back on his privilege to join the leftist movement in the jungles of Venezuela. There, as he trains, he meets Emiliana, a nurse and fellow revolutionary. Though their intense connection seems to be love at first sight, their romance is upended by a decision with consequences that will echo down through the generations. Almost forty years later, in a poor barrio of Caracas, Mar穩a, a single mother, ekes out a precarious existence as a housekeeper, pouring her love into Eloy, her young son. Her devotion will not be enough, however, to keep them from disaster. On the eve of the attempted coup against President Ch獺vez, Eloy is wounded by a stray bullet, fracturing her world. Amid the chaos at the hospital, Mar穩a encounters Stanislavo, now a newspaper editor. Even as the country itself is convulsed by waves of unrest, this twist of fate forces a belated reckoning for Stanislavo, who may yet earn a chance to atone for old missteps before it's too late. With its epic scope, gripping narrative, and unflinching intimacy, Freedom Is a Feast announces a major new talent. Alejandro Puyana has delivered a wise and moving debut about sticking to one's beliefs at the expense of pain and chaos, about the way others can suffer for our misdeeds even when we have the best of intentions, and about the possibility for redemption when love persists across time.

March 1917
In March 1917, Book 3 the forces of revolutionary disintegration spread out from Petrograd all the way to the front lines of World War I, presaging Russia's collapse. One of the masterpieces of world literature, The Red Wheel is Nobel prize-winner Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's multivolume epic work about the Russian Revolution told in the form of a historical novel. March 1917--the third node--tells the story, day by day, of the Russian Revolution itself. Until recently, the final two nodes have been unavailable in English. The publication of Book 1 of March 1917 (in 2017) and Book 2 (in 2019) has begun to rectify this situation. The action of Book 3 (out of four) is set during March 16-22, 1917. In Book 3, the Romanov dynasty ends and the revolution starts to roll out from Petrograd toward Moscow and the Russian provinces. The dethroned Emperor Nikolai II makes his farewell to the Army and is kept under guard with his family. In Petrograd, the Provisional Government and the Soviet of Workers' and Soldiers' Deputies continue to exercise power in parallel. The war hero Lavr Kornilov is appointed military chief of Petrograd. But the Soviet's "Order No. 1" reaches every soldier, undermining the officer corps and shaking the Army to its foundations. Many officers, including the head of the Baltic Fleet, the progressive Admiral Nepenin, are murdered. Black Sea Fleet Admiral Kolchak holds the revolution at bay; meanwhile, Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich, the emperor's uncle, makes his way to military headquarters, na簿vely thinking he will be allowed to take the Supreme Command.
Organizational Structure of the Muslim Brotherhood Characteristics, objectives, and future
The organizational structure of the Muslim Brotherhood, with its institutional and administrative structures, is of exceptional importance to the leaders of the Group. On the one hand it represents the main tool for translating the Group's principles and ideas into practice on the ground, whilst on the other it serves to implement its political project to assume power and achieve empowerment within society.Ever since its inception, the Group has been intent on linking its organizational structure to its ideological character on the basis that maintaining the cohesion and continuity of its structure would require a belief in the Group's ideology and the values it champions. It has also been keen to secure a pivotal role for the Supreme Guide (Murshid) in the construction of its organization and movement, though the nature of that role has differed from one Supreme Guide to another, subject to his charisma, leadership qualities and ability to influence Group members. The Group has relied on organizational units such as offices, committees and departments to boost its penetration of society, and accorded special priority to social causes, which in turn has furnished it with a social backing to be employed in support of its political agenda, as was the case with the 2012 legislative and presidential elections in Egypt.Although the Muslim Brotherhood exploited the 25 January uprising in 2011 to assume power, it failed in the test of governance, and it became evident that its organizational and administrative structure could not furnish the expertise, cadres and leaders required to enable it to exercise power on the ground. This ultimately led to the 30 June uprising against it in 2013 and the subsequent developments and repercussions that weakened the Group's organizational and administrative structure, which has subsequently stagnated, blighted by fragmentation and division.

The Muslim Brotherhood Circumstances Surrounding its Establishment - Volume (I)
The Muslim Brotherhood is a phenomenon worthy of investigation given its geographical reach and the depth of its social and political influence, not only in the Arab and Muslim regions, but throughout the whole world. An analytical view of the historical circumstances surrounding the Group's emergence in Egypt is key to understanding the factors that have shaped its followers, its ideological vision and its tools of change. An examination of the social, economic and cultural environment which witnessed the inception of the Muslim Brotherhood is of special importance, as it allows us to envision the overall conditions that prevailed in Egypt at the time of the Group's founding. Such a study is an attempt not only to understand the events and developments that accompanied the emergence of the Muslim Brotherhood, but to identify the ways in which these developments have colored events of the recent past. The study highlights the intellectual origins of the Muslim Brotherhood as embodied in Sunni Orthodoxy, the ideology of the Khawarij, and pioneers of the Arab-Islamic Renaissance (Nahda), such as Jamal al-Din al-Afghani, Muhammad Abduh, Muhammad Rashid Rida, and Abul A'la Maududi, whose thought deeply impacted the formulation of the Brotherhood's ideas. The study also addresses the role played by figures such as Hasan al-Banna and Sayyid Qutb, who entrenched violence within the Group's rhetoric, worldview and actions. No less importantly, the study addresses the theoretical foundations of the Brotherhood's thought and approach, which are highly generalized and ambiguous despite the Brotherhood's claim that they are authentic and deeply rooted in the Islamic legal and juristic tradition.

The Others gives a view of the Imperialist behaviours of some countries in the northern hemisphere and the change of heart if they ever needed the help from the "Third World" countries. The Book paints a chilling picture of a world thrown into disarray as a sudden and severe ice age grips the northern hemisphere. As temperatures plummet and glaciers advance, the once-prosperous nations of the north find themselves struggling to survive in the face of a relentless winter. Amidst the chaos, the countries of the southern hemisphere emerge as unlikely saviors, opening their borders to millions of desperate refugees fleeing the frozen wastelands of the north. For decades, the impoverished nations of the south have borne the brunt of economic exploitation and neglect from their wealthier northern counterparts, leading to deep-seated resentments and animosities. As the influx of refugees strains already fragile infrastructures and resources, tensions simmer between the displaced northerners and their southern hosts. Many in the south resent the sudden burden placed upon them, while others see an opportunity for revenge against those who once looked down upon them. As the ice age deepens and the divide between north and south grows ever wider, The Others asks profound questions about empathy, compassion, and the nature of humanity itself. Will the poor countries of the south rise to the occasion and extend a helping hand to their struggling neighbors from the north? Or will old prejudices and grievances prove too difficult to overcome, plunging the world into an even deeper abyss of division and strife?

Night Architecture
Two short texts, one fictional, one meditational. In the first, 'Night Architecture', a leading British architect returns from a foreign trip to his isolated, self-designed East Anglian home beside an estuary. Woken in the night by a strange sound resembling a scream he goes to investigate, only to find himself trapped in a series of strange and disturbing events. The second, 'Sudoxe', is a series of meditations on the 1958 novel Exodus by Leon Uris and its popular 1960 American film adaptation. These lead on to some reflections about the relationship of the novel and the film to contemporary events.
