The Gift of Luck
Poetry to me is an attempt by the inner voice to crystalise feelings that need to be translated into meaningful but sometimes ambiguous assertions on contemporary life. Micro stories evolve of life and death, good and evil, joy and sadness, that stir the soul of poet and reader alike and lead to the dislocated prose we call poetry from those acute and wry observers of the human condition.

The Hamptons are well known for being the place to be in summer for sunshine, luxury, and fun. Each garden owner recounts the motivation behind the vision and design of their dream garden, whether it be an intimate escape or a family-friendly space to make memories. Blue effortlessly conveys each gardener's sense of pride and the reasons behind the choices of landscape design and architecture, as well as color scheme, flora selection, and incorporation of art. The Gardens of the Hamptons also includes gardens by top American interior designers, such as Charlotte Moss, who is a gardening expert herself; Marshall Watson, whose garden graces the cover; Sasha Bikoff, who sprinkled her garden with white wildflowers; and Tony Ingrao and Randy Kemper, who own one of the most important and historical gardens in the Hamptons. High-profile landscape architects Ed Hollander, Chris LaGuardia, Eric Groft, Mario Nievera, Fernando Wong, and Craig Socia also feature in the book, having worked on some of the gardens. Crisis Gardening
Gardening during times of crisis can have significant benefits to individuals and populations in terms of health, well-being, social and economic outcomes. So-called 'crisis gardening' can even be linked to transformative change in food systems through socio-ecological aspects of agroecology. In this book, crisis gardening is explored to better define, describe and provide recommendations about this activity globally. Diverse perspectives are offered from scholars around the world, providing an overview of gardening during crises with ties to agroecology. Such a perspective is critical as we grapple with food system crises, pandemics, climate change, biodiversity loss, mental health issues and political conflict globally. The first section defines and explains crisis gardening in relation to agroecology, transformative change in food systems and public health The second section describes case studies from around the world of crisis gardening from various social-ecological perspectives The third section provides policy and practice recommendations and how to scale up the lessons from crisis gardening to transform food systems, public health systems, and policy and landscape planning processes Bringing together leaders and experts (academics, policy makers and practitioners) from around the world, the book provides case studies of crisis gardening and develops recommendations to harness the lessons from this practice.

Taking Care of Business
This book was written for all those caregivers who struggle every day to meet the needs of a loved one, relative, or friend. My caregiving journey started at a very young age; my teachers were my parents. My mother was sickly most of her life and mine. I had this innate ability to offer a helping hand, not realizing this was the first step on my road to being a caregiver. I can honestly say I never felt any anger and/or resentment toward my mother or anyone else I helped and aided for a long period of time - only love and devotion. It was as if it was my job on this earth to help take care of people, be compassionate, dependable, and trustworthy. For over 50 years of my life I was a caregiver and a constant for my mother and a shoulder to lean on for my father, and their many friends and acquaintances who were in-need of some type of assistance. The most rewarding parts of caregiving is giving back to someone who has cared for you and the satisfaction of knowing your loved one is getting excellent care. With every caregiving task for my mother, she would look at me and say, "I don't know what I would do without you." After suffering a stroke which brought on aphasia, this shortened to "You...me...thank you." I knew what she meant. To all the caregivers in the world, I commend you; I understand your frustrations and the emotional and physical strains. I understand the anger, anxiety, sadness, guilt, and lack of appreciation that resonates. I see you. Hang in there.

The Geometry of Wildflowers
Colonel Rajesh Deshmukh's military career ends when he refuses orders that would send his men to certain death on the Siachen glacier. Though his decision proves correct, he faces decades of professional disgrace and family estrangement. When new evidence finally vindicates him twenty-four years later, an unexpected question emerges: if the certainties that once defined him were wrong, what else needs questioning? Thus begins the most unlikely chapter of a decorated soldier's life-his transformation into a philosophical seeker. With military precision, Deshmukh systematically explores humanity's greatest wisdom traditions: Stoic discipline, existential freedom, Buddhist non-self, and the psychology of mortality. Each discovery plants new seeds in both his literal garden and the metaphorical "garden within"-the landscape of consciousness itself. As family relationships heal and his son Vikram learns to admire rather than resent his father's principled stand, the Colonel's intellectual journey deepens. He questions religious frameworks that once provided comfort, grapples with Eastern concepts that challenge Western assumptions about identity, and discovers how humans create "immortality projects" to cope with existential anxiety. But philosophical understanding proves insufficient when crisis strikes. A devastating family accident leaves his grandson in a coma and his daughter-in-law fighting for life. Faced with this emergency, the Colonel cannot choose between his various philosophical frameworks-he needs them all simultaneously. Stoic acceptance for uncertainty, existential choice for decisive action, military training for disciplined calm, Buddhist impermanence for perspective, and simple human love that transcends all categories. In the hospital's interfaith chapel, surrounded by symbols from multiple traditions, he finally comes to understand his decades of exploration. He hasn't been searching for the one true philosophy but developing the capacity to hold various truths simultaneously, drawing from different wisdom traditions as life requires. His physical garden becomes the perfect metaphor for this integration. Just as his garden doesn't choose between roses and jasmine, between geometric order and wild growth, his consciousness no longer needs to choose between competing philosophies. Stoicism and existentialism, Buddhism and pragmatism, military discipline and civilian reflection-all become complementary tools in the toolkit of integrated wisdom.Through one man's journey from unwavering certainty to nuanced wisdom, the book demonstrates how the gardens we tend, both literal and metaphorical, reflect the consciousness we cultivate within ourselves. If you've ever felt torn between certainty and curiosity, maybe it is time to embrace the wild side of wisdom because sometimes the most beautiful things grow where we least expect them. The Geometry of Wildflowers is about finding your own path even when the world demands straight lines.
