This captivating blend of theory, practice, and inspiration is intended to serve both as a challenge and a guide for designers and home enthusiasts passionate about creating the perfect space.

All in the Family!
All in the Family takes an in-depth look at owning two or more pets. This insightful book is aimed at both current and potential pet owners who would like to share their home with an animal companion, but can't make up their mind what kind - or if two or more animals might be a better solution.Through studies and lots of real-life examples, the author hopes to convince animal lovers that two's company - and even three is definitely not a crowd! The book explores why more than one pet is a great idea for all concerned - for both owners and pets. It is also highlights how pets could benefit from the presence of other animals in the household, and in some cases be given a completely new lease of life.Although many might feel two dogs or cats are plenty, it could be that more are even merrier. Expert advice is given on making the right choices to avoid a combination that clearly won't work, perhaps due to the breed of dog or cat; the owner's location or residence; a current lifestyle situation, or the incompatibility of some species combinations.Combinations of dogs and cats, as well as other animals, are discussed, with clear evidence that pets such as rabbits, pigs and hedgehogs, among others, can all live happily in a mixed-species environment.Featuring interviews with real-life, multi-animal families, who relate their personal experiences of mixed species, the book is illustrated throughout with dynamic photographs of pets at play, eating, sleeping and interacting with each other, their owners and families, showing what fun, joy, laughter and love animals can bring to a home.
The Doomsday Flight
In 1971, a time before metal detectors and body scans, a single man boards an Air Canada DC-8 flight with a sawed-off shotgun, 54 sticks of dynamite, a parachute and a desperate plan for a $1.5 million ransom. But it's the two twisted wires in an ordinary Woolco shopping bag that will hold an entire plane hostage.Trapped at 37,000 feet, flight attendant Mary Dohey becomes an unwilling participant in a deadly game, forced to hold live detonator wires for hours. One wrong move, one trembling hand, and the aircraft could explode. Around her, passengers wrestle with their own mortality while the hijacker, Paul Cini, plays a high-stakes game of psychological warfare with authorities on the ground. But in this meticulously researched true-crime thriller, nothing is quite what it seems. Lessons From Meerah
There is nothing like leading a horse through endless labyrinth-like circles or listening to the trickle of water running over swollen legs, to place me into a state of contemplation. And this is how my story begins. Nursing my ten-year-old Arabian mare through a mysterious week-long illness while my mind, and this book, remembers the five years of work, errors, triumphs and tragedies that ultimately led to a true partnership with my dressage and trail horse.Horseback riding is my passion, part of my daily existence and happiness, and when my riding horse unexpectedly died, I needed to fill the void left in my emotional, and social life. Enter Meerah, a five-year-old rescued Arabian, a horse that my ego assumed I could easily train to my liking. But Meerah had her own opinion of how our new relationship should function.I should have known better than to apply the negative-reinforcement-style training that I had used on my old Western Pleasure mount... but I didn't. I was in my late fifties and for the past twenty years had grown spiritually in my everyday life, however, my equestrian-mind remained mired within dominance. It was Meerah who healed my wounded emotions and introduced me to a new way of thinking about horsemanship.Lessons from Meerah is a memoir, a five-year journey of my struggle to remember the simple path one needs to follow to form a successful relationship with a new horse, and not to blindly adhere to a recipe for training that I learned when I was much younger. Yet, ingrained habits are hard to recognize, and even harder to break. My recently deceased horse knew what I wanted and our invisible body language of a raised rein hand, or a touch of the spur, would easily catapult my old mare into the proper response. But Meerah was young, inexperienced, and did not understand my minuscule cues, let alone being ridden. I was determined to lunge my new mare into submission, or bit her head into the proper position, or sit heavy and squeeze my legs into controlling her speed. I was determined to re-create the Western Pleasure and trail horse that I had lost, and never considered my new horse could have an opinion, let alone a different goal than I.Meerah threw me off her back and into a fence, bolted and nearly unseated one trainer, and successfully wiggled her way out from under another. The beautiful Egyptian Arabian was a talented mover and had great potential, IF I could figure out how to ride her.Two steps forward and one step backwards was the progress we made together as I struggled to get her into the frame I desired. And, ever so slowly, the epiphany of common sense seeped into my blue ribbon seeking equestrian head.I learned to accept Meerah's ability to move as a dressage horse, and not as a pre-destined Western Pleasure horse. And as I learned the value of Centered Riding, Liberty training and Natural Horsemanship, I changed my perspective. Meerah was not the typical "equine slave" I could control. Quite the contrary, she became a partner. And through all these lessons I met new people, rekindled old friendships, and grew into the horsewoman I am today.I'll always treasure the memories and experiences of my youth, it is acceptance of change, or is it growth, that I applaud throughout the contents of this book. I hope you find my words, and our story, inspirational for your own life's journey, Suzy and Meerah
Again I Hear These Waters
The 'Miyah' community of the Northeast Indian state of Assam is formed from the descendants of migrant Bengali-Muslims living in the chars (low-lying islands prone to floods and erosion). Very rarely do we see translations of literature from India's Northeast, a contested region seen as 'off the map' of India proper, or from the hundreds of languages which are not official at either the national or state level. In poetry and song originally written mostly in Assamese or local dialects spoken by the community, over twenty voices are brought together in this anthology to document deeply intimate stories of nature, loss, and yearning, foregrounding these contemporary lives beyond mere victimisation. From folk river-songs as poems to love poetry, the islands and riverbanks of the chars and chaporis of the Brahmaputra River become both background and metaphor in this anthology, never shying away from the prismatic effect of water. Curated by Shalim M. Hussain, a leading figure in the Miyah poetry movement, Again I Hear These Waters is an offering, a gathering.

Know Your Dog
Most books about dogs talk about the history of various breeds, and are filled with useful training advice, yet we learn almost nothing about how dogs think and feel. Dogs are considered to be easily trained creatures of instinct, but this attitude falls short of the mark. It doesn't take into consideration that dogs are thinking, feeling beings; individuals, just as we are, with different personalities, strengths and weaknesses, and distinct emotional lives. The aim of this book is to have dog owners get to know their companions from a different perspective, through simple routines and games that can be carried out at home. Owners will learn about - and see for themselves - the mental abilities that their dog possesses, and understand their dog much better as the relationship between them grows even deeper.
Biodynamic Farming Handbook
Biodynamic Farming Handbook is a unique guide to biodynamic agricultural and gardening methods, as an advanced organic, regenerative farming method that eschews chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, or herbicides. As with other organic methods, it aims to build soil organic matter levels and biological activity, enabling plants to feed and grow naturally. Nevertheless, the biodynamic approach goes far beyond conventional organic methods, using a range of powerful nature-based preparations that greatly enhance soil biological activity and photosynthetic efficiency, resulting in healthier, more vibrant plants with exceptional flavor and keeping qualities, far beyond what is achievable through ordinary organic methods. This book provides a comprehensive overview of biodynamic farming, its scientific basis, detailed instructions for practical application, plus a series of detailed case studies detailing the activities of a variety of biodynamic farms in Australia and Europe that use the Australia Demeter Biodynamic Method, which is applied widely in Europe, Asia, and the U.S. It is called the "Australian" method because it was developed most extensively under the guidance of Alex Podolinsky (1925-2019), and the method extended to hundreds of thousands of acres by the mid-1980s. Owing to Podolinsky's annual advisory trips throughout Europe from the 1990s until his death in 2019, hundreds of farmers now use this method.
Bio-Dynamic Gardening and Farming
Ehrenfried Pfeiffer lays out the essential practices for successfully operating a biodynamic farm, including the principles behind each technique and practice. He backs up these methods with scientific research and data, as well as his own experience as a farmer and researcher, describing what works and what doesn't. Pfeiffer covers soil qualities, making compost, crop rotation, best planting practices, using biodynamic preparations and sprays, and much more--all with the goal of growing the highest-quality foods by using sustainable methods and working with nature and caring for the earth.Bio-Dynamic Gardening and Farming (Vol.1) includes: "New Directions in Agriculture""The Organic Chemical Controversy""The Decline of American Agriculture""How to Buy a Farm; Organic Matter in Soil""How Moist is Moist?""Mulching--Right or Wrong""The Treatment of Soils with Regard to Humus and Structure"

Gender Perspectives in Indian Context
Today gender studies as an interdisciplinary academic field has gained much momentum in India. Contrary to conventional idea that a person born either as a boy or a girl must conform to his or her sex in his or her growth, dress and behaviour, modern Indian outlook have rather started changing with fast approaching new gender free world crowded with agender, bigender, genderfluid, genderqueer, non-binary and third gender people against conventional gender binary- male and female. Last few years, apart from schemes for women's security and empowerment, had also seen the announcement of many welfare schemes for the health and well-being of third gender people of India and decriminalisation of homosexuality from Indian soil. With same spirit, the present anthology is an endeavour to shed some light on the glaring issues of rape, abuse, discrimination, exploitation and violence arising out of gender essentialism in Indian context. The anthology, with an aim to serving larger sections of humanity, covers twenty one multidisciplinary articles hardly missing any aspect untouched from this field of study in Indian context.
Versailles from the Sky
Versailles seen from the sky is dreamlike. First to experience this remarkable sight on September 19, 1783, were three passengers aboard the world's first hot-air balloon flight: a sheep, a duck, and a chicken. These animals rose up into the sky in front of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette, making Versailles a pioneering location in the conquest of the air.In the twenty-first century, the advent of drone cameras makes it possible to capture an infinity of new perspectives from the air. Versailles is particularly beautiful when seen from above, and the stunning images in this volume reveal the ingenious geometry of its different spaces, while also offering a panoramic view of the estate in all its immensity. The classical gardens lend themselves well to aerial views: the Grande Perspective, the fountains, the intricate parterres, many of which were plotted out on architectural plans. The wooded groves seem to take on new forms: the Domes, Colonnade, and Obelisk groves resemble watch faces on which the channels that feed the fountains mark out the time; the Chestnut Grove shrouded in snow assumes the shape of a violin; the Grand Canal at sunset becomes a glowing ribbon. Versailles from the Sky is perfect for anyone who loves Versailles. It is also for anyone who would love to take a trip through the four seasons; a journey that a bird's-eye view of Versailles encapsulates beautifully.

Defrosted
DEFROSTED IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN NEW YORKERS THAW OUT IN FLORIDA. DEFROSTED, BECAUSE THE WORLD IS MORE STRESSFUL THAN EVER. SO, KICK BACK AND RELAX WITH WHAT FEELS LIKE LONG-LOST FRIENDS! My name is Paul Rashid. I am a board-certified psychiatrist of Lebanese American descent, born and raised in West Virginia. During my extensive training and ongoing education, I've come to realize the therapeutic benefits of engaging in the arts and creative activities, which can significantly reduce mental stress and improve overall health. Working as a psychiatrist can be emotionally draining, as emotions are contagious. Consequently, I prioritize the maintenance of my mental and physical well-being by incorporating daily exercise, consuming organic whole foods whenever possible, and ensuring I get a full 8 hours of sleep each night. This commitment is essential as I strive to perform at my highest level every day, providing the best care possible to each of my patients. One of the activities that replenishes my internal reserves is writing. Through this passion, I've embarked on the creation of the P2 Comics Universe, a venture that is not only enjoyable but also holds great personal meaning. To promote the therapeutic value of the arts, I've coined a motto, "Anxiety-N-2-Arts."Those who knew me during my childhood would attest to my somewhat quirky and unique nature. I have always had a deep love for television and movies. In my youth, I often imitated Jim Carrey and even adopted the persona of Kramer from Seinfeld during my high school years, earning me that nickname for several years. Then, on a random day in January 2023, I sat down and started writing. It was a parody of Seinfeld, reminiscent of the parodies Mad Magazine has offered for various television shows and movies over the years. My familiarity with these characters allowed me to enter a state of complete creative flow, making it the most enjoyable writing experience I've ever had. Remarkably, within just three days, I had completed the entire script for the first issue. My next challenge was to find the right artist. DEFROSTED required a skilled character artist with a deep understanding of comic books. Fate smiled upon me, as with a single social media post, I connected with five talented artists. One of them, Miguel Galindo, quickly stood out. With over a decade of experience in comics and a knack for cartooning, Miguel's talents perfectly complemented the project. Furthermore, he shared the same love for the original sitcom as I did.Miguel's exceptional talent has even earned him the prestigious Mexican National Journalist Award for Caricatures and Humor. I hope that as you dive into DEFROSTED, you enjoy it as much as Miguel and I did while creating it. Cheers!
The Craft of Place
The first book on Mork-Ulnes Architects and their approach to construction in the varied landscapes of California and Norway. Mork-Ulnes Architects is an international architecture firm with offices in San Francisco and Oslo. Since its founding by Casper Mork-Ulnes in 2005, the firm has built on three continents and worked on projects at a variety of scales, from master plans and mixed-use buildings to ground-up residences and one hundred-square-foot cabins. They approach projects with both Scandinavian practicality and a Californian can-do spirit of innovation, resulting in buildings that are characterized by both playfulness and restraint. The Craft of Place is Mork-Ulnes Architects' first monograph. Aircraft of the Royal Navy Since 1908
This is a comprehensive study of every aircraft type ordered for the Royal Navy since 1908. It includes fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, rigid and non-rigid airships, unmanned aircraft and pilotless target aircraft together with many designs that were ordered but not built so that the importance placed on them by the Naval Staff or their potential technological impact on carrier design and operations can be explained. Every type - even unsuccessful single prototypes - is described; the majority are illustrated by photographs, many of which come from the author's own collection, and the fifty most significant aircraft have detailed drawings. The Australian and Canadian Fleet Air Arms operated RN aircraft types for many years after their formation and these are included together with other types they have operated subsequently to give a more complete overview. The book describes over 400 different types of aircraft built by over 100 different manufacturers to offer the most detailed coverage of RN aircraft ever produced. Research for the book took over forty years and reference material included Admiralty Archives and an array of material in the public domain including manufacturers' data, individual aircraft pilot's notes and a wealth of published sources. David Hobbs is uniquely well-placed to write this book having served in the RN for thirty-three years and retired with the rank of commander. He flew both fixed and rotary-wing aircraft and his log book contains 2300 flying hours with 807 day and night deck landings. He served in seven British aircraft carriers and spent four years within RN Director General (Aircraft) Department where he was closely involved with Sea Harrier carrier trials and introduced new visual landing aids for night recoveries and liaised with the USN on carrier operating techniques.
