Florian Graf
Features artist Florian Graf's playful yet thought-provoking public art project. Swiss artist Florian Graf conceived his School Models art project for the public space in the city of Zurich. Situated within the schoolyard of a public secondary school, it is comprised of models of three buildings on the campus, each representing a period of architectural history. Graf's white limestone sculptures of 1:20 scale are supported by oversized, multi-colored Terrazzo toy blocks. Students are invited to view their school buildings in entirely new ways, such as seating or as meeting places. The interplay of proportions between oversized blocks and miniature school buildings, as well as the actual school buildings used as a backdrop, prompts a re-evaluation of the underlying power dynamics and interpretations that shape educational systems. This book documents a unique public art project that evokes interaction through images and supplementing texts. It illuminates key terms such as education, model, collaboration, and resonance. The book also invites a reflection on the evolution of education and its institutions over time.
Lartigue / Kert矇sz
"The greatest amateur photographer" meets "the inventor of photojournalism" in this survey of two documentarians, each with a sympathetic personal eyeBorn in the same year and dying within a year of one another, Jacques Henri Lartigue (1894-1986) and Andr矇 Kert矇sz (1894-1985) led contrasting lives that produced different yet equally remarkable photographic portfolios. Their work was shown at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1963 and 1964, respectively, but while Lartigue was dubbed an "amateur," Kert矇sz was hailed as "the inventor of photojournalism." Both oeuvres are characterized by a unique, highly personal aesthetic--Lartigue candid, Kert矇sz reflective--that set them apart from other modalities of image-making, and served as inspiration for later generations when they both reached acclaim in the 1970s. Lartigue / Kert矇sz pays tribute to these two paragons by comparing their parallel careers through a selection of 185 photographs, in color and black and white, highlighting the similarities and singularities of their approaches to the art of photography.

Dirty Old River
A collection of essays by British architect Tom Emerson. Dirty Old River brings together twelve essays penned by Tom Emerson over the past two decades. Written on very different occasions as contributions to books or articles in magazines, they explore a wide range of topics through the lens of architecture. The book's title is borrowed from the British rock band The Kinks' cult song "Waterloo Sunset" to symbolize a journey through the interweaving of culture, imagination, and the built environment. Naturally, Emerson writes about architecture: how it is designed, drawn, and built. Yet he also turns his attention to other, wider fields, from the transformation of materials to the nuances of human creativity, the explosive early works of his celebrated fellow architect Frank O. Gehry, and the intimate craftsmanship behind the literary spaces of French writer Georges Perec. Emerson's unique approach to writing is often inspired by sideways glances and disciplines beyond architecture. He offers a new perspective on how things are made, why they take shape the way that they do, and what these processes reveal about humanity.
