Multivariate Approximation for solving ODE and PDE
This book presents collective works published in the recent Special Issue (SI) entitled "Multivariate Approximation for Solving ODE and PDE". These papers describe the different approaches and related objectives in the field of multivariate approximation. The articles in fact present specific contents of numerical methods for the analysis of the approximation, as well as the study of ordinary differential equations (for example oscillating with delay) or that of partial differential equations of the fractional order, but all linked by the objective to present analytical or numerical techniques for the simplification of the study of problems involving relationships that are not immediately computable, thus allowing to establish a connection between different fields of mathematical analysis and numerical analysis through different points of view and investigation. The present contents, therefore, describe the multivariate approximation theory, which is today an increasingly active research area that deals with a multitude of problems in a wide field of research. This book brings together a collection of inter-/multi-disciplinary works applied to many areas of applied mathematics in a coherent manner.

Nonlinear Water Waves
The motion of water is governed by a set of mathematical equations which are extremely complicated and intractable. This is not surprising when one considers the highly diverse and intricate physical phenomena which may be exhibited by a given body of water. Recent mathematical advances have enabled researchers to make major progress in this field, reflected in the topics featured in this volume. Cutting-edge techniques and tools from mathematical analysis have generated strong rigorous results concerning the qualitative and quantitative physical properties of solutions of the governing equations. Furthermore, accurate numerical computations of fully-nonlinear steady and unsteady water waves in two and three dimensions have contributed to the discovery of new types of waves. Model equations have been derived in the long-wave and modulational regime using Hamiltonian formulations and solved numerically. This book brings together interdisciplinary researchers working in the field of nonlinear water waves, whose contributions range from survey articles to new research results which address a variety of aspects in nonlinear water waves. It is motivated by a workshop which was organised at the Erwin Schr繹dinger International Institute for Mathematics and Physics in Vienna, November 27-December 7, 2017. The key aim of the workshop was to describe, and foster, new approaches to research in this field. This is reflected in the contents of this book, which is aimed to stimulate both experienced researchers and students alike.

Sequents and TreesAn Introduction to the Theory and Applications of Propositional Sequent Calculi
This textbook offers a detailed introduction to the methodology and applications of sequent calculi in propositional logic. Unlike other texts concerned with proof theory, emphasis is placed on illustrating how to use sequent calculi to prove a wide range of metatheoretical results. The presentation is elementary and self-contained, with all technical details both formally stated and also informally explained. Numerous proofs are worked through to demonstrate methods of proving important results, such as the cut-elimination theorem, completeness, decidability, and interpolation. Other proofs are presented with portions left as exercises for readers, allowing them to practice techniques of sequent calculus. After a brief introduction to classical propositional logic, the text explores three variants of sequent calculus and their features and applications. The remaining chapters then show how sequent calculi can be extended, modified, andapplied to non-classical logics, including modal, intuitionistic, substructural, and many-valued logics.Sequents and Trees is suitable for graduate and advanced undergraduate students in logic taking courses on proof theory and its application to non-classical logics. It will also be of interest to researchers in computer science and philosophers.

Nonlinear Higher Order Differential and Integral Coupled Systems: Impulsive and Integral Equations on Bounded and Unbounded Domains
Boundary value problems on bounded or unbounded intervals, involving two or more coupled systems of nonlinear differential and integral equations with full nonlinearities, are scarce in the literature. The present work by the authors desires to fill this gap.The systems covered here include differential and integral equations of Hammerstein-type with boundary constraints, on bounded or unbounded intervals. These are presented in several forms and conditions (three points, mixed, with functional dependence, homoclinic and heteroclinic, amongst others). This would be the first time that differential and integral coupled systems are studied systematically. The existence, and in some cases, the localization of the solutions are carried out in Banach space, following several types of arguments and approaches such as Schauder's fixed-point theorem or Guo-Krasnosel'skiĭ fixed-point theorem in cones, allied to Green's function or its estimates, lower and upper solutions, convenient truncatures, the Nagumo condition presented in different forms, the concept of equiconvergence, Carath矇odory functions, and sequences. Moreover, the final part in the volume features some techniques on how to relate differential coupled systems to integral ones, which require less regularity.Parallel to the theoretical explanation of this work, there is a range of practical examples and applications involving real phenomena, focusing on physics, mechanics, biology, forestry, and dynamical systems, which researchers and students will find useful.

The second part covers domination in hypergraphs, chessboards, and digraphs and tournaments. The third part focuses on the development of algorithms and complexity of signed, minus and majority domination, power domination, and alliances in graphs. The third part also includes a chapter on self-stabilizing algorithms. Of extra benefit to the reader, the first chapter includes a glossary of commonly used terms. The book is intended to provide a reference for established researchers in the fields of domination and graph theory and graduate students who wish to gain knowledge of the topics covered as well as an overview of the major accomplishments and proof techniques used in the field.
An Introduction to Nonautonomous Dynamical Systems and their Attractors
The nature of time in a nonautonomous dynamical system is very different from that in autonomous systems, which depend only on the time that has elapsed since starting rather than on the actual time itself. Consequently, limiting objects may not exist in actual time as in autonomous systems. New concepts of attractors in nonautonomous dynamical system are thus required. In addition, the definition of a dynamical system itself needs to be generalised to the nonautonomous context. Here two possibilities are considered: two-parameter semigroups or processes and the skew product flows. Their attractors are defined in terms of families of sets that are mapped onto each other under the dynamics rather than a single set as in autonomous systems. Two types of attraction are now possible: pullback attraction, which depends on the behaviour from the system in the distant past, and forward attraction, which depends on the behaviour of the system in the distant future. These are generally independent of each other. The component subsets of pullback and forward attractors exist in actual time. The asymptotic behaviour in the future limit is characterised by omega-limit sets, in terms of which form what are called forward attracting sets. They are generally not invariant in the conventional sense, but are asymptotically invariant in general and, if the future dynamics is appropriately uniform, also asymptotically negatively invariant.Much of this book is based on lectures given by the authors in Frankfurt and Wuhan. It was written mainly when the first author held a "Thousand Expert" Professorship at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan.

Nonlinear Dispersive Partial Differential Equations and Inverse Scattering
This volume contains lectures and invited papers from the Focus Program on "Nonlinear Dispersive Partial Differential Equations and Inverse Scattering" held at the Fields Institute from July 31-August 18, 2017. The conference brought together researchers in completely integrable systems and PDE with the goal of advancing the understanding of qualitative and long-time behavior in dispersive nonlinear equations. The program included Percy Deift's Coxeter lectures, which appear in this volume together with tutorial lectures given during the first week of the focus program. The research papers collected here include new results on the focusing nonlinear Schr繹dinger (NLS) equation, the massive Thirring model, and the Benjamin-Bona-Mahoney equation as dispersive PDE in one space dimension, as well as the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili II equation, the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation, and the Gross-Pitaevskii equation as dispersive PDE in two space dimensions. The Focus Program coincided with the fiftieth anniversary of the discovery by Gardner, Greene, Kruskal and Miura that the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation could be integrated by exploiting a remarkable connection between KdV and the spectral theory of Schrodinger's equation in one space dimension. This led to the discovery of a number of completely integrable models of dispersive wave propagation, including the cubic NLS equation, and the derivative NLS equation in one space dimension and the Davey-Stewartson, Kadomtsev-Petviashvili and Novikov-Veselov equations in two space dimensions. These models have been extensively studied and, in some cases, the inverse scattering theory has been put on rigorous footing. It has been used as a powerful analytical tool to study global well-posedness and elucidate asymptotic behavior of the solutions, including dispersion, soliton resolution, and semiclassical limits.
Fast Track to Differential Equations
This compact introduction to the ordinary differential equations and their applications is aimed at anyone who, in their studies, is confronted voluntarily or involuntarily with this versatile subject. Numerous examples from physics, technology, biomathematics, cosmology, economy and optimization allow a quick and motivating approach - abstract proofs and unnecessary formalism are avoided as far as possible. In the foreground is the modelling of ordinary differential equations of the 1st and 2nd order as well as their analytical and numerical solution methods, in which the theory is briefly dealt with before the application examples. In addition, codes show exemplarily how even more demanding questions can be answered and meaningfully represented with the help of a computer algebra system. In the first chapter the necessary previous knowledge from integral and differential calculus is treated. A large number of exercises including solutions round off the work.

Selected Papers from the 16th International Conference on Squeezed States and Uncertainty Relations (ICSSUR 2019)
The first quantum revolution started in the early 20th century and gave us new rules that govern physical reality. Accordingly, many devices that changed dramatically our lifestyle, such as transistors, medical scanners and lasers, appeared in the market. This was the origin of quantum technology, which allows us to organize and control the components of a complex system governed by the laws of quantum physics. This is in sharp contrast to conventional technology, which can only be understood within the framework of classical mechanics. We are now in the middle of a second quantum revolution. Although quantum mechanics is nowadays a mature discipline, quantum engineering as a technology is now emerging in its own right. We are about to manipulate and sense individual particles, measuring and exploiting their quantum properties. This is bringing major technical advances in many different areas, including computing, sensors, simulations, cryptography and telecommunications. The present collection of selected papers is a clear demonstration of the tremendous vitality of the field. The issue is composed of contributions from world leading researchers in quantum optics and quantum information, and presents viewpoints, both theoretical and experimental, on a variety of modern problems.
Fractional Differential Equations, Inclusions and Inequalities with Applications

Applied Wave Mathematics II
This book gathers contributions on various aspects of the theory and applications of linear and nonlinear waves and associated phenomena, as well as approaches developed in a global partnership of researchers with the national Centre of Excellence in Nonlinear Studies (CENS) at the Department of Cybernetics of Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia. The papers chiefly focus on the role of mathematics in the analysis of wave phenomena. They highlight the complexity of related topics concerning wave generation, propagation, transformation and impact in solids, gases, fluids and human tissues, while also sharing insights into selected mathematical methods for the analytical and numerical treatment of complex phenomena. In addition, the contributions derive advanced mathematical models, share innovative ideas on computing, and present novel applications for a number of research fields where both linear and nonlinear wave problems play an important role. The papers are written in a tutorial style, intended for non-specialist researchers and students. The authors first describe the basics of a problem that is currently of interest in the scientific community, discuss the state of the art in related research, and then share their own experiences in tackling the problem. Each chapter highlights the importance of applied mathematics for central issues in the study of waves and associated complex phenomena in different media. The topics range from basic principles of wave mechanics up to the mathematics of Planet Earth in the broadest sense, including contemporary challenges in the mathematics of society. In turn, the areas of application range from classic ocean wave mathematics to material science, and to human nerves and tissues. All contributions describe the approaches in a straightforward manner, making them ideal material for educational purposes, e.g. for courses, master class lectures, or seminar presentations.
Tsinghua Lectures in Mathematics (vol. 45 of the Advanced Lectures in Mathematics series)
This volume presents a selection of work based upon lectures given by distinguished mathematicians at the Yau Mathematical Sciences Center at Tsinghua University, and at the Tsinghua Sanya International Mathematics Forum.Mathematics is very diversified and broad, but there are some basic underlying themes. The editors hope that the diversity of material presented here conveys the richness and unity of mathematics.
Ulam Type Stability
This book is an outcome of two Conferences on Ulam Type Stability (CUTS) organized in 2016 (July 4-9, Cluj-Napoca, Romania) and in 2018 (October 8-13, 2018, Timisoara, Romania). It presents up-to-date insightful perspective and very resent research results on Ulam type stability of various classes of linear and nonlinear operators; in particular on the stability of many functional equations in a single and several variables (also in the lattice environments, Orlicz spaces, quasi-b-Banach spaces, and 2-Banach spaces) and some orthogonality relations (e.g., of Birkhoff-James). A variety of approaches are presented, but a particular emphasis is given to that of fixed points, with some new fixed point results and their applications provided. Besides these several other topics are considered that are somehow related to the Ulam stability such as: invariant means, geometry of Banach function modules, queueing systems, semi-inner products and parapreseminorms, subdominant eigenvalue location of a bordered diagonal matrix and optimal forward contract design for inventory. New directions and several open problems regarding stability and non-stability concepts are included.Ideal for use as a reference or in a seminar, this book is aimed toward graduate students, scientists and engineers working in functional equations, difference equations, operator theory, functional analysis, approximation theory, optimization theory, and fixed point theory who wish to be introduced to a wide spectrum of relevant theories, methods and applications leading to interdisciplinary research. It advances the possibilities for future research through an extensive bibliography and a large spectrum of techniques, methods and applications.
The Seven Spaces of Creation
This book presents a cosmology based on seven Octonion spaces. The spaces are interrelated. One space describes universes such as the QUeST universe previously described by the author. Another space describes Megaverses such as the UTMOST Megaverse of the author. The complete theory appears to be as fundamental as possible. It directly connects to the Unified SuperStandard Theory of the author. Thus it is a complete theory - the first truly comprehensive theory unifying the deepest levels with particle physics experiment.
Nonequilibrium Phenomena in Strongly Correlated Systems
The book is devoted to the fundamental aspects of the non-equilibrium statistical mechanics of many-particle systems. The concept of Zubarev's approach, which generalizes the notion of Gibbs' ensembles, and introduces a nonequilibrium statistical operator, providing an adequate basis for dealing with strongly correlated systems that are governed by nonperturbative phenomena, such as the formation of bound states, quantum condensates and the instability of the vacuum. Besides a general introduction to the formalism, this book contains contributions devoted to the applications of Zubarev's method to the solution of modern problems in different fields of physics: transport theory, hydrodynamics, high-energy physics, quark-gluon plasma and hadron production in heavy-ion collisions. The book provides valuable information for researchers and students in these fields, requiring powerful concepts to solve fundamental problems of non-equilibrium phenomena in strongly

Math is BAD
"Math is BAD" is a short text to demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of mathematics in a simple manner. The book uses a significant number of credible sources and could provide a new angle of interpretation and appreciation of mathematics. Specifically, the modern era reveals another side of the truth that mathematics cannot formulate. That is to say, nothing is for sure. Such a vision has led to another branch of science, which requires relying on probabilistic effects. Statistics is the branch that employs mathematics while missing the absoluteness of mathematics. In simple terms, "MATH IS BAD" encourages us to listen to the sound of the cosmos and whatever it contains with more mindfulness while respecting its complexity and randomness. Moreover, "Math is Bad" briefly touches on the dark side of scientific literature and the way sources are altered for various purposes. The second edition has improved the content to include the most available up-to-date information and references.
