Art is an expression of the world that gains meaning whenever the creator turns to a theme that he or she has something to say about. Edilson Ferri brings his vision of the city with a different look. Whether in mixed media painting or photomontages, he presents fragmentation and juxtaposition as characteristics of a universe on which it is possible to launch multiple perceptions. Historical sites from the capital of S瓊o Paulo and other environments, as well as pieces of other images, are placed side by side in a play of colours and shapes. The Magic of Shoes
Saudah Aziz, born in Queens New York graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management (Information Systems) from Chicago State University. Worked for a large communications company in technology then made a career change to education by returning to school, Virginia Commonwealth University earning a certificate for Emotional Disturbance to become a certificated Special Education Teacher. Returned to school again for a Master of Arts degree in Education (Curriculum and Instruction) at University of Phoenix. The idea for the title, Magic of Shoes: A Journey through Middle School with the Right Pair of Shoes On, came with much thought as Saudah was determined to win the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Contest, but unsure of what to write about. She wanted to spark an interest in middle school students, where she worked, that they have the power to change the world when they are kind to others. Saudah noticed that students valued having the right pair of footwear to match their outfit, but what they didn't notice was their shoes gave them a personality to do the right or wrong thing. It's hard to be a teenager in middle school therefore, readers will learn how to survive school with the right pair of shoes on through the magic of shoes. Students can impower themselves and others by being kind. On the last day of school before a holiday break, Saudah wore a pair of shoes that has not worn in years. As she walked to her classroom her shoes fell apart, the rubber sole came off and she picked it up. 'That's it!" She said; The Magic of Shoes is the title for a young adult fiction book. An intervention had taken place and it give her encouragement to write. Magic of Shoes take the reader on a journey of scenarios and situations that happens during a school year. Saudah put her herself in the shoes of middle school students to challenge them in making better choices that could lead to a better life. Magic of Shoes helps the reader apply analytical thinking skills to make good decisions. The goal is to build a positive character and develop self-determination skills that builds good relationships. A positive attitude promotes social-emotional learning towards others.Saudah loves to travel, read, sew, create, watch movies, listening to others, laugh, spend time with family, meditate to escape life pressures, and work as founder and president of a nonprofit organization, www.edufestival.org.

Hessian is a German girl born towards the end of the Second World War, whose father fought in the German army. She migrates with her family to Australia when she is still a child where she suffers some discrimination because she is German. She eventually becomes an artist. Muslin is born into a Jewish family in England after the war. She is a violinist who subsequently becomes a poet and migrates to Australia as an adult. Her family, who live in the shadow of the holocaust and are unforgiving of Nazi Germany, are preoccupied with preserving a Jewish ethnicity. Both Hessian and Muslin are shaped by, but also rebel against, the cultural environments in which they grow up.Heimlich Unheimlich suggests strong links between Muslin and Hessian, despite their contrasting, even conflicting, childhoods. It explores, through photographic collages, the inter-generational aftereffects of the Second World War and the shadow it cast of personal and collective trauma. The work has considerable relevance to contemporary Australia and global issues concerning war, migration, displacement and ethnic identity.

Looking for Dante
When we pick up a book, we might forget that as well as reading a text we are looking at a physical object. This is not the case for the medieval poet Dante, whose famous poem, the 'Divine Comedy', was made into beautiful objects in the form of early printed books. The oldest of these books date back to the very beginning of the print revolution, over 550 years ago. In 2023, Rebecca Bowen and Simon Gilson - University of Oxford specialists in Dante Studies and Book History - invited artist-printmaker Wuon-Gean Ho to examine these books and make a contemporary response. Handbooks and discipline of Art History in Italy
Between the end of the nineteenth century and the very first years of the twentieth century to deal with art history were mainly figures of intellectuals who were not properly specialists in the subject and who felt the need to fill the void in which this discipline was found in the Italy of the time. Indeed, there was a need for greater popularization of art history and specific teaching in secondary schools, which at the time had not yet been included in ministerial programs. Within the wide production of texts that, in that period, began to be designed for teaching, three manuals are examined that, by their characteristics, constitute an exhaustive sampling. In the present case, a number of common themes have been identified, which are addressed from time to time in an unambiguous manner or with different approaches depending on the training and interests of the individual authors: the problem of the iconographic set of texts, the prominence of Renaissance art, the evaluation of applied arts, and the sources used.

A human history told through clay--and how it has shaped us from ancient times to the present day. People have been taking handfuls of earth and forming them into their own image since human history began. Human forms are found everywhere there was a ceramic tradition, and there is a ceramic tradition everywhere there was human activity. The clay these figures are made from was formed in deep geological time. It is the material that God, cast as the potter, uses to form Adam in Genesis. Tomb paintings in Egypt show the god Khum at a potter's wheel, throwing a human. Humans first recorded our own history on clay tablets, the shape of the characters influenced by the clay itself. The first love poem was inscribed in a clay tablet, from a Sumerian bride to her king more than 4000 years ago. Born out of a desire to know and understand the mysteries of this material, the spiritual and practical applications of clay in both its micro and macro histories, Clay: A Human History is a book of wonder and insight, a hybrid of archaeology, history and lived experience as an amateur potter.

Fenwick opens up the discussion of the meaning and purpose of the Stanley Kubrick Archive by considering its material realities via a critical survey and archaeological analysis of its contents. By undertaking such an analysis, Fenwick moves beyond the mythic status of the archive being Kubrick's archive and instead foregrounds the wider cultural value and significance of the collection and uses the archive to reveal histories, stories, and ideas beyond a focus on Stanley Kubrick, proving that the Stanley Kubrick Archive doesn't just have to be about Stanley.

A Drawing A Day By Helane
This book tells the story and includes the collection of sketches that were done by award winning, illustrator, Helane Freeman. It started as a personal challenge to draw everyday and became a movement that spread across the country. They were sent out in emails from 2010-2011. They include caricatures of Charlie Sheen, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney and more. Helane Freeman, an award-winning illustrator and art director, graduated with honors from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. At the tender age of 14, Helane began selling her paintings, and her work soon adorned the walls of her local bank, a beauty parlor and a real estate office. During her career as an illustrator and art director, Helane has worked on over 100 record album covers, including Frank Sinatra's "Radio Years" and NWA's "Straight Outta Compton," which was named one of the 25 best album covers of all time by Digital Arts Magazine. Helane has earned six RIAA Gold and Platinum Albums, a Hollywood Reporter Key Art Award for ad design for the film "Dumb and Dumber," and numerous other awards and accolades. Helane received the rare honor of having her work proudly displayed in the Smithsonian Institution as part of its Priority Records "The California Raisins" exhibit. Helane has produced packaging artwork for THQ and Mattel's "SmashPack - Sonic Spinball, Ecco the Dolphin and Golden Axe" video games, and currently creates artwork and props for several popular TV shows. This volume examines the criticism of five influential British writers on the visual arts--John Ruskin, Walter Pater, Roger Fry, Clive Bell, and Sir Herbert Read. Their works span a period in the history of art that "in productivity and significance is more impressive than any other period since the Renaissance." Each of these writers possesses extraordinary literary skills. Another common tie is their awareness of serving as spokesmen for art to an audience that was mainly indifferent or even hostile. Even though the aesthetic outlook of Pater, Fry, and Bell represents a violent reaction to Ruskin's moralistic and literary interpretation of art, they were no less concerned than he to overcome the national apathy toward art and to assert its cultural importance. Sir Herbert Read reconciles the oppositions in the work of his predecessors in an aesthetic philosophy that stresses the social and ethnical values of art without sacrificing the idea of individual expression. The major part of Solomon Fishman's study is an examination of the aesthetic theories embodied in the writings of each critic. He extracts the theoretical assumptions that form the basis of each writer's critical practice and traces the development of aesthetic doctrine as it was modified by the critic's experience of actual works of art. The body of work of these writers is representative of the whole development of modern art criticism and aesthetic theory.
