Increasing a person's and a family's health literacy level will help people take better care of themselves physically and mentally. It could help the community become more resilient. This book summarizes some important points in nursing school. You will NOT become a nurse by reading this book. This book does NOT take the place of advice from your Health Care Provider. This book does NOT take the place of formal medical training. This book is solely intended to make people more aware of medical issues and help them seek care from a Health Care Provider more quickly. It seems as though sometimes we delay getting a medical evaluation for different reasons. As you will see in this book, some abnormal health symptoms are really symptoms of more serious diseases and may not be simply a sign of aging. For example, if an elderly person suddenly becomes confused, there is a real possibility they are having a urinary tract infection since that can cause confusion in the elderly. There are also some things in this book that discuss how healthcare operates. It is not expected that people would read and memorize this book. It could be useful, though, for a non-medical person to read through this easy to understand book once every year or two to refresh their mind on some important health concepts.
