Isometric exercise is an integral part of almost every martial arts system. Even before isometrics were studied scientifically, named, and modern science-based training techniques were devised, they have been taught and practised in one form or another for thousands of years. The great Bruce Lee's love of isometric exercise ensured that this system would forever be famously linked to all types of martial arts training. Brian Sterling-Vete is recognised as one of the leading authorities on isometric exercise science and has practised several martial arts styles for over 50 years. This combination of martial arts and exercise science knowledge gives him unique, extremely valuable insight into advanced science-based strength training and conditioning needed for every martial art. As a valuable footnote, the National Health Service (NHS) Innovation Team in Greater Manchester, England, has successfully trialled and deployed the Workout at Work system for employees.
