A Good Confinement Is Good for Lifelong Health

在生產中,母體經過分娩時的用力,難免會受傷害出血,導致元氣的耗損,因此需要一段時間的康復。從胎兒分娩之後,至產婦生殖器官和子宮恢復正常狀態的8~10週內,古人通稱為「坐月子」。自然生產的婦女在產後需要坐月子30天左右,但若是剖腹生產或流產的婦女則需要坐月子約40天。
生產後需要充分的休息及攝取充足的營養,不僅可以幫助媽媽迅速恢復體力,同時可以讓身體因經歷生產所受損的器官,得到好好的調養。另外,在此期間,如有惡露、腰痠背痛以及乳汁分泌不足等,皆需藉由飲食及作息調整,使身體邁向健康,幫助產後媽媽得到比產前更好的身心平衡狀態。
產婦月子沒有做好的話,容易有腰痠背痛、皮膚鬆弛、內臟下垂、子宮下垂、膀胱下垂、陰道鬆弛等後遺症,所以產後需要一定的休養,就如同老一輩的長者所說的,「坐好月子,健康一輩子」呢!
During delivery, the body after using so much force may inevitably be damaged, leading tothe depletion of energy. Therefore, a period of rehabilitation is needed. Starting from the delivery to full recovery of the reproductive organs and uterus, there is about 8 or 10 weeks which is called confinement. Maternal women who give natural birth need about 30 days while the women who choose caesarean or abortion may need 40 days.
After delivery, plenty of rest and nutrition can make mothers quickly recover their strength and let their body receive good treatment after experiencing the child birth process that damage internal organs. In addition, lochia, back pain, and milk secretion all can be treated by food and rest, making the body healthier and helping the mothers to have a good physical-mental equilibrium after delivery.
If the confinement is not done properly, there could be a lot of complications that include back pain, sagging skin, visceral prolapsed, uterine prolapsed, bladder prolapsed, and vaginal relaxation. So getting enough rest is necessary after delivery, just like they said “A good confinement is good for lifelong health.”

產後常見症狀的防範 The Prevention of Common Postpartum Symptoms
產後貧血
婦女在生產過程中,難免會失血過多,所以產後如有頭暈目眩、四肢無力現象,這即是一種貧血症狀,所以需要多吃一些補血的食物,例如豬肝、菠菜、紅棗、枸杞子等,才能減輕不舒服的症狀。

Postpartum anemia
Women tend to have huge blood loss during delivery. If afterward they experience dizziness and weakness, it is considered anemia. They need to eat the food that can replenish blood, for example, pork liver, spinach, red dates, and wolfberries to alleviate the symptoms.

虛弱
生產後身體覺得虛弱無力是正常的,因為生產時付出了大量的精力,造成元氣耗損和器官受傷,所以必須充分的休息和調養,才能讓身體機能慢慢恢復正常。尤其是坐月子初期,最好多躺在床上,好好的休息和睡眠,避免太過勞累的事情,身體才會慢慢的好起來。

Weakness
It is normal to feel weak after delivery as a lot of energy is used, resulting in energy loss and organ injuries. Plenty of rest and recuperation are needed to make the body function slowly recover. Especially during the beginning of confinement, it is better to lay down on the bed and sleep. Avoid doing tiring things and the body will get well slowly.

惡露
惡露是生產後殘留在子宮壁上的細胞,必須設法祛除乾淨,否則會引起細菌感染。所以生產後必需喝生化湯或其他有助子宮收縮的茶飲、湯水。只要子宮收縮良好,自然就會排淨惡露。

Lochia
Lochia is the residual cells sticking to the uterine wall after delivery. It needs to be cleaned or it may lead to bacterial infection. Women need to drink decoction soup or other tea and soup that can help the uterine to contract. As long as the uterine contracts well, the lochia can be naturally drained.

胃口不佳
坐月子初期,由於體力不佳或睡不安穩,多少會影響胃口;如果平時吃香喝辣慣了,也有可能吃不慣清淡的月子餐,這時可以多用一些有助開胃的食材,料理時花點巧思增加菜色變化,以少量多餐的方式,逐漸改善食慾。

Poor appetite
During the beginning of confinement, the appetite is affected by the low physical strength and bad sleep. If the women accustomed to heavily flavored food, they may not be used to the light confinement meals. Some ingredients that improve the appetite can be used during this period. Use creativity to add some variety to the meals, eat small, frequent meals to gradually improve the appetite.

水腫
生產後常見手腳或臉部浮腫,這是因為體內新陳代謝經過巨變,一時失調所引起的,不必太過擔心。可以適當地按摩四肢,食用消腫祛水的湯水茶飲,促進新陳代謝恢復正常,很快的就會消腫了。

Edema
Edema of limbs or face after delivery is caused by the imbalance from the huge change in metabolism, and that there is no need to worry too much. Massage the limbs properly and drink the soup or tea that can remove the edema to make the
metabolism back to normal.

乳汁不足
很多媽媽剛開始哺乳時,都會碰到奶水不足的問題,千萬不要氣餒,只要參考本書加強膳食調理,絕對有促進乳汁分泌的效果。其次,有些人迷信月子期間不能喝水,或擔心喝太多水會影響身材恢復,其實是錯誤的觀念。想要奶水豐足,除了一天要喝三杯以上的牛奶外,湯湯水水更不能少。

Insufficient milk
Many mothers experience insufficient milk when they start breast-feeding. Do not be discouraged. Refer to this book and strengthen dietary condition can definitely promote milk secretion. Besides, some people have the superstition that they cannot drink water during confinement or that they worry drinking too much water may affect the recovery of their body shape. This is actually a misconception. To have plenty of milk, 3 glasses of cow milk intake a day is necessary. In addition, do not forget to drink soup and water.

腰痠背痛
為了防止腰痠背痛,懷孕時最好要控制一下自己的體重,避免過胖,造成上半身重量壓迫到腰部。再加上生產時的用力,身體部位受到一些不當的拉扯,因而引起腰痠背痛的現象。坐月子時,可以用食療的方法來改善腰痛,平時坐著或抱孩子哺乳,背部要加一個小抱枕墊著腰部,儘量避免腰部出力,就能慢慢改善了。

Waist and back pains
To prevent waist and back pains, it is best to control your weight during pregnancy to avoid obesity which causes the upper body weight compressing the waist. The strength used during delivery and the improper pulling of the body cause back pain.
During confinement, use food therapeutic approach to improve back pain. When sitting or breastfeeding the baby, use a small pillow to cushion the waist. Try not to use too much waist strength, and the pain can be improved.

婆婆媽媽小祕方
Little secret from mothers
麻油雞宜選精瘦的土公雞,如怕油脂太高,可撕掉雞皮烹調。食後如果有口乾舌燥、便祕情形,最好暫停食用,因黑麻油和老薑性質較溫辛,吃多了容易上火。
Try to select the lean rooster for cooking sesame oil chicken, and that if you are concerned with too much fat, you can remove the skin before cooking. If your mouth feels dry or you experience constipation after eating, you should stop eating it. Black sesame oil and old ginger are warm and spicy, and that eating too much of them may get heated.

材料
雞肉600克,老薑30克,黑麻油3大匙,水600c.c.
調味料
米酒200c.c.,鹽1/4小匙,冰糖1/4小匙
作法
1 老薑連皮洗淨,切片;雞肉汆燙後洗淨備用。
2 鍋中燒熱,倒入黑麻油、薑片炒至香氣散出,加入雞肉炒至肉色變白,再加入米酒炒出濃厚酒香味。
3 最後加入水,蓋上鍋蓋大火煮開,轉小火煮30分鐘至入味,再加入鹽和冰糖調味拌勻即可。

Ingredient
Chicken meat 600g, old ginger 30g, black sesame oil 3 tbsp.,water 600c.c.
Seasoning
Rice wine 200c.c., salt ¼ tsp., rock sugar ¼ tsp.
Method
1 Wash and slice old ginger. Soak chicken in boiling water and wash it for later use.
2 Heat up a pot, pour in black sesame oil and sliced ginger, and then sauté them. Add in chicken and stir-fry it until turns white. Add in rice wine and stir-fry them to produce a thick wine aroma.
3 Last, add in water, boil them with the lid on. Switch to low heat and simmer them for 30 minutes to allow the flavor to go in. Add in salt and rock sugar, and then stir them well.

溫馨叮嚀 Friendly reminder
產後如果還在喝生化湯,不可吃麻油雞;要等生化湯喝完,體內汙血惡露排淨再食用。
If you are drinking decoction soup, do not eat sesame oil chicken. Wait until finishing all the decoction soup and draining all the lochia inside the body before starting eating sesame oil chicken.

Stir-Fried Madeira Vine with Sesame Oil

女性在經過懷胎十月的腰腹部壓迫,生產後常有腰痛的毛病,應多食用川七來做保養。因為川七能化瘀止血,調理腰腎和骨盆,對產後骨頭痠痛有不錯的改善作用。
After the waist and abdomen are under ten months of pressure, women often experience waist pain after delivery. They should eat madeira vine more to maintain their bodies. Madeira vine can reduce bruise, stop bleeding, recuperate kidneys and pelvic area, improving bone pain after delivery.

材料
川七200克,黑麻油3大匙,枸杞子5克,薑10克
調味料
鹽1/4小匙,米酒1小匙
作法
1 川七洗淨;枸杞子洗淨泡水,使用前把水倒掉;薑洗淨、切絲。
2 平底鍋倒入黑麻油加熱,放入薑絲和枸杞子炒香,加入川七快炒至葉片變暗,再加入調味料拌勻即可。

Madeira vine 200g, black sesame oil 3 tbsp., wolfberries 5g, ginger 10g
Seasoning
Salt ¼ tsp., rice wine 1 tsp.
Method
1 Wash madeira vine. Wash and soak wolfberries. Drain them before using. Wash and shred ginger.
2 Heat up black sesame oil in a flat pan. Sauté shredded ginger and wolfberries. Add in madeira vine and stir-fry them until the leaves turn dark. Add in seasonings and stir them well.

川七跟一般蔬菜的烹調方式大同小異,挑選時宜選葉片大而肥厚、色澤青翠者較新鮮。
The cooking method of madeira vine is similar to other vegetables. Pick the ones with huge and thick leaves, and the color is green. They are fresher.

材料
桂圓肉5克,枸杞子10克,雞蛋1個,黑麻油1大匙,薑2片
調味料
鹽1/4小匙
作法
1 桂圓肉洗淨、切絲;枸杞子洗淨,泡水10分鐘後撈出瀝乾備用。
2 雞蛋打散,加入桂圓、枸杞子和鹽,攪拌均勻備用。
3 平底鍋中加入黑麻油燒熱,放入薑片炒至薑味出來,再倒入作法2的蛋液,煎至兩面金黃即可。

Longans 5g, wolfberries 10g, 1 egg, black sesame oil 1 tbsp., 2 ginger slices
Seasoning
Salt ¼ tsp.
Method
1 Wash and shred longans. Wash wolfberries, soak them in water for 10 minutes and then drain them for later use.
2 Beat eggs into batter. Add in longans, wolfberries, and salt, and then stir them well for later use.
3 Heat up black sesame oil in a flat pan. Sauté ginger slices, pour in the egg mixture from Step 2, and pan-fry it until both sides are golden brown.
