Partners in Crime
Most books about the assassination of President Kennedy written by "serious" authors and published by "prestigious" publishing houses fully agree with the Warren Commission's conclusions that Lee Harvey Oswald was a mentally disturbed individual who acted alone and there was no conspiracy surrounding him. Nonetheless, the few who blame the CIA, usually lefties and "progressives," never mention the key role played by important Council on Foreign Relations' members both in the assassination and the cover-up. They also purposely ignore Castro's role in the event, despite the fact that he was the only one among the suspects who publicly threatened the Kennedy brothers with assassination and had a long personal history of violence and a strong inclination to commit such a crime. Moreover, none of these books adds to the list of suspects the man who created the CFR, the CIA and Castro: David Rockefeller. As you will see in this book, however, everything indicates that David Rockefeller was the evil mind who manipulated behind the shadows the forces that participated in the JFK assassination and its cover-up. There are some things about this book that sets it apart from the close to 2000 books written about the Kennedy assassination. In the first place, it doesn't point to abstract organizations such as "the Establishment," "the military-industrial-complex," "the deep state," or "the CIA," as perpetrators, but as specific individuals inside some of these organizations. Secondly, it brings abundant evidence showing that most of the people who participated in the cover-up which began just after the assassination and intensified after the Warren Commission's report, as well as in the post-cover-up, unleashed by Oliver Stone's film JFK, were members of the Council on Foreign Relations. Thirdly, it proves that the Kennedy assassination in 1963 was a sort of remake of the assassination in 1948 of Colombian leader Jorge Eli矇cer Gait獺n. The modus operandi was quite similar -both used Manchurian Candidates- and even some of the people who participated in the assassination of Gait獺n also played key roles in the JFK assassination. Finally, without discarding some of the motives for the JFK assassination mentioned by other authors -Kennedy planned to end the Vietnam War, he threatened to disband the CIA, printed currency not backed by the Fed- he added a main one not mentioned by any author before: President Kennedy was secretly trying to reach an agreement with Soviet Premier Khrushchev to end the Cold War.
Civilizing Disability Society
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is increasingly used to civilize grassroots disabled persons' organizations (DPOs) around the world. The international disability rights movement actively promotes the CRPD's key norm that disabled persons mobilize in support of their rights under the Convention. The unintended consequence of these activities, however, is that local groups focused on social support and service provision, rather than disability-rights advocacy, are targeted for change. While the resources provided by international actors to grassroots organizations provide new opportunities, they also create barriers to local groups' ability to promote full civic participation of their members in the local community. Through a detailed account of grassroots DPOs in Nicaragua, Civilizing Disability Society demonstrates how local organizations navigate pressures from abroad as they attempt to concretely address the health, education and economic needs of their members at home.

This volume examines the experiences of Asia's micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) during the first year of the pandemic and discusses post-pandemic policy actions for MSME development.The study draws on the findings of MSME surveys carried out during 2020 and 2021 in Indonesia, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Philippines, and Thailand. It offers insights on approaches that could best support a pandemic exit strategy and policies that could help revitalize the MSME sector during recovery in a way that creates more resilient economies.

This volume focuses on the digitalization of microfinance in Bangladesh to help make finance more affordable for small businesses, and finds it to be a promising avenue for further exploration.Micro, small, and medium-sized businesses provide much of the income in rural Bangladesh, but their growth is constrained by limited access to affordable finance. This volume reports on a 2021 baseline study carried out in Bangladesh to pilot a randomized controlled trial to determine whether a digitalized group-based credit scheme could be introduced at an affordable price. The findings provide justification for further study on the digitalization of microfinance.
Asia Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Monitor 2021
This volume sets out an updated Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Development Index (SME-DI) that aims to help policy makers in developing Asia overcome the limited availability of data on small businesses.The volume presents a new pilot of the SME-DI that fills in missing data by using a probabilistic principal component analysis model. The researchers used pilot testing to generate a regional SME-DI for 15 countries in Southeast Asia and South Asia, based on the 2021 Asia Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Monitor database. The study also constructed a national index for Viet Nam using business registration data.

Africans in Harlem
The untold story of African-born migrants and their vibrant African influence in Harlem. From the 1920s to the early 1960s, Harlem was the intellectual and cultural center of the Black world. The Harlem Renaissance movement brought together Black writers, artists, and musicians from different backgrounds who helped rethink the place of Black people in American society at a time of segregation and lack of recognition of their civil rights. But where is the story of African immigrants in Harlem's most recent renaissance? Africans in Harlem examines the intellectual, artistic, and creative exchanges between Africa and New York dating back to the 1910s, a story that has not been fully told until now. Hidden Voices
Underpinned by the idea of the right to a 'basic minimum', welfare states are a major feature of many societies. However, the lived experiences of persons seeking and receiving welfare payments can often be overlooked. This book seeks to remedy this omission by honouring lived experience as valuable, insightful and necessary. It draws on qualitative interviews with 19 people receiving various working age welfare payments in Ireland to explore stigma, social reciprocity and the notions of the deserving and undeserving poor, and to analyse welfare conditionality in the Irish context. Breaking new ground, this book offers original research findings which contest and inform policy both within Ireland and beyond.

This highly accessible portrayal of a post-apartheid neighborhood in transition analyzes the relationship between identity, migration, and place. Since it was founded in 1894, amidst Johannesburg's transformation from a mining town into the largest city in southern Africa, Hillbrow has been a community of migrants. As the "city of gold" accumulated wealth on the backs of migrant laborers from southern Africa, Jewish Eastern Europeans who had fled pogroms joined other Europeans and white South Africans in this emerging suburb. After World War II, Hillbrow became a landscape of high-rises that lured western and southern Europeans seeking prosperity in South Africa's booming economy. By the 1980s, Hillbrow housed some of the most vibrant and visible queer spaces on the continent while also attracting thousands of Indian and Black South Africans who defied apartheid laws to live near the city center. Filling the void for a book about migration within the Global South, The Roads to Hillbrow explores how one South African neighborhood transformed from a white suburb under apartheid into a "grey zone" during the 1970s and 1980s to become a "port of entry" for people from at least twenty-five African countries. The Roads to Hillbrow explores the diverse experiences of domestic and transnational migrants who have made their way to this South African community following war, economic dislocation, and the social trauma of apartheid. Authors Ron Nerio and Jean Halley weave sociology, history, memoir, and queer studies with stories drawn from more than 100 interviews. Topics cover the search for employment, options for housing, support for unaccompanied minors, possibilities for queer expression, the creation of safe parks for children, and the challenges of living without documents. Current residents of Hillbrow also discuss how they cope with inequality, xenophobia, high levels of crime, and the harsh economic impacts of COVID-19. Many of the book's interviewees arrived in Hillbrow seeking not only to gain better futures for themselves but also to support family members in rural parts of South Africa or in their countries of origin. Some immerse themselves in justice work, while others develop LGBTQ+ support networks, join religious and community groups, or engage in artistic expression. By emphasizing the disparate voices of migrants and people who work with migrants, this book shows how the people of Hillbrow form connections and adapt to adversity.
