I Have Overcome by the Word of my Testimony
From the first time that God entered my life at age two to my age now has been sixty-eight years. He has been not only my leader but also my best friend. He is my life. He is first, and my family is second. I have always had a strong sense of family values. So I wanted my family and friends to know God the way I do. I wanted to share him with everyone. That is the reason I wrote this story of my life. I wanted to leave it behind to keep sharing with my family about his greatness. At first I wasn't thinking about getting it published, but as my friends, family, and church family suggested that I do. I started to see that it could touch more lives than my little inner circle. I truly hope you enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed writing it. I pray that it will bless you to the utter most. Please take the times that I struggled with troubles in my life to help you through your problems. My life has been very interesting and busy but most of all, it has been blessed with God by my side always. I hope and pray that this story will cause your family and mine to come to Christ.

Parochial and plain sermons Vol. VIII is a contemplative and morally urgent collection of religious addresses that continues Newman s lifelong dedication to guiding Christian souls through the complexities of faith and life. It draws deeply from scriptural truths and personal introspection, offering insights into sin, repentance, grace, mortality, and divine accountability. Newman urges readers to consider how fleeting human life is and how easily it slips away when absorbed in worldly distractions. He emphasizes the necessity of preparing one s soul with vigilance, as death brings finality and judgment. Across the volume, Newman cautions against spiritual complacency and challenges readers to examine their habits, desires, and loyalties. He exposes the tension between temporal success and eternal truth, advocating for a life anchored in humility, prayer, and moral clarity. With pastoral care and theological precision, Newman presents each sermon as both warning and encouragement, aiming to awaken the conscience and draw believers toward a deeper alignment with divine will.

Parochial And Plain Sermons Vol. VII
Parochial and plain sermons Vol. VII is a collection of religious sermons exploring Christian doctrine and moral teachings designed to guide spiritual lives. The volume focuses on themes such as the passage of time, the certainty of death, the weight of earthly desires, and the contrast between true religion and worldly pursuits. It opens with the sermon which reflects on Solomon s advice to work diligently toward the salvation of the soul, emphasizing life s brevity and the inevitability of death that ends all human endeavors. Newman stresses the importance of living with purpose and urgency, highlighting how distractions can cause people to undervalue the present moment. The sermons call attention to the accountability that follows death and the need to align actions with divine expectations. Ultimately, the work urges prioritizing spiritual well-being above temporary gains, encouraging readers to cultivate a life focused on eternal values rather than fleeting pleasures. The volume offers a thoughtful examination of faith and the human condition through reflective sermons.
Divine Ecosystem
In this book, Randazzo develops new language to "translate" Quaker theological concepts which are rooted in the foundation of the tradition. Quaker theology has, since its beginnings, relied heavily on metaphors of Divine/human interdependence, and particularly creation metaphors related to the foundational concept of all Quaker theology: "that of God within." Coupled with this inherent ecological focus rooted deep within the tradition is the peculiarly Quaker practice of journals - the vitally important practice of Quakers reflecting upon their own personal experiences in light of their theological import. Randazzo's theological narrative of liberal Quakerism creates clarity and structure without compromising the capacious breadth and depth of this distinctive tradition. Reflecting the traditional use of creation metaphors to express Quaker theological concepts, Randazzo proposes a new metaphor of "ecosystem" - new because the term was first used in 1935 - to explain the interplay of the old threads underlying Quaker theology. In so doing, Randazzo helps readers understand the hope-filled richness of Quaker theology while offering space for the myriad ways Friends experience the sacred. The "sources" of Quaker theology work as a complex ecosystem of overlapping elements, where none is primary but all interact with each other in inexplicable and unexpected ways: the individual and communal experience of the Divine, the testimony of the practices which demonstrate the truth of this experience in the values and practices of the community, Quaker interpretation of Divine revelation in both sacred stories as well as new ideas and concepts which evolve over time, and the doctrines which emerge as Quakers explore the way that these elements all intersect in the lives and stories of our communities.
A Jewish Trinity
The Christian affirmation of a triune God has always perplexed and confounded Jews. Can Jews get beyond understanding the Trinity as inherently tri-theistic A Jewish Trinity serves as an entrance into a range of issues in Jewish-Christian theological difference, presenting a Jewish understanding of six topics in contemporary Christian theology: Trinity, original sin, incarnation, salvation, messianism, and covenant. In A Jewish Trinity Alan Brill seeks a Jewish appreciation for the core theological differences between the two religions. The book is informed by recent historical studies of the early Jewish-Christian division, showing greater commonality in theological ideas. The book, however, concentrates on contemporary Christian theology--especially the constructive theology of Karl Rahner and J羹rgen Moltmann--to demonstrate that contemporary Christian theological formulations possess greater affinity to Jewish conceptions than did prior Christian theology, while also still providing religious difference. This work of comparative theology is a crucial next step in Jewish-Christian encounter for our historically informed, post-polemical age. Brill shows that Jews and Christians can engage in comparative discourse on theological issues with full clarity and understanding. The book seeks to change the field of Jewish-Christian encounter, going beyond reconciliation toward a richer and deeper theological discussion of similarity and difference.
Faith in The Lord
Faith in The Lord is a powerful and deeply personal spiritual memoir that traces the remarkable journey of Rico Nguyen from the battle-scarred streets of post-war Vietnam to redemption through divine purpose. Born into chaos and hardship, Rico grew up amidst oppression, poverty, and violence. His escape from Vietnam as a refugee launched a lifetime of trials: near-death experiences, life on the streets, criminal influences, addiction, and betrayal. But amid darkness, a divine light always followed. With vivid dreams, prophetic visions, and miraculous encounters, Rico was never truly alone. He was being called shaped, broken, and refined for something greater. In this raw and honest narrative, Rico opens his soul to reveal the pain of the past, the supernatural moments that saved him, and the unshakable faith that transformed him. This is not just a survival story. It's a testimony of grace. A call to anyone searching for hope, healing, or purpose. Faith in The Lord is proof that no one is ever too far gone and that God never gives up on His children.
Life Beyond Suicide
No loss is more difficult to comprehend than suicide. Its devastation extends far beyond immediate family and friends, touching entire communities and leaving deep emotional and spiritual wounds. Those left behind often struggle to find support, and the questions suicide raises - about faith, suffering, and meaning - can remain heartbreakingly unanswered. Bringing together voices from pastoral care, lived experience, and theology, Life Beyond Suicide offers a compassionate, practical resource for all affected by suicide, and for those who support them. -Part One explores suicide through three lenses: pastoral responses, the lived reality of suicide, and theological reflection on its complexities. -Part Two shares deeply personal testimonies - from those bereaved by suicide and from survivors - alongside reflections by Samuel Wells. -Part Three offers liturgies, prayers, and resources. Grounded in honesty, empathy, and hope, Life Beyond Suicide is a vital companion for anyone seeking understanding, healing, and a path toward life beyond loss. Life Beyond Suicide is published in association with Olly's Future, a suicide awareness charity founded by Ann Feloy in memory of her son who died by suicide aged 22. A portion of the proceeds from sales of this book will be donated to the suicide prevention charity, Olly's Future.
Healing the World
In a world grappling with division, climate chaos, and spiritual unrest, a revolutionary vision emerges: to heal our planet, we must first heal ourselves.Healing the World: Whitehead, Francis, Clare, and Bonaventure on Spiritual and Planetary Transformation by Bruce G. Epperly offers a timely and profound vision for addressing the urgent crises of our time, from climate change and international upheaval to political incivility and social division. This book masterfully weaves together the philosophical depth of Alfred North Whitehead's process theology with the rich, practical spirituality of Franciscan thought, embodied by Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi, and St. Bonaventure.Epperly, an acclaimed theologian and author known for his extensive works, argues that a genuine transformation of our world requires a holistic approach, linking inner spiritual growth with outer social and ecclesiastical change. The book challenges prevailing views of a lifeless, godless universe, asserting instead a "God-filled world" where all creation sings praises to God and is interconnected. This perspective counters authoritarian images of God that fuel division and destruction, presenting instead a relational, empathetic, and persuasive Deity.Readers will discover how Francis of Assisi, affirmed as the "Second Christ", modeled a life of simplicity, universal hospitality, and deep harmony with all creation, from "Brother Sun" to "Sister Mother Earth". He saw no "other," extending love and respect even to enemies and outcasts, advocating for a world of peace and justice. Clare of Assisi, his "luminous" spiritual companion, focused on "gazing at Jesus" to internalize and imitate Christ's empathetic, suffering love, providing a model for women's spiritual empowerment and identifying God with the pain of the vulnerable. St. Bonaventure, the "mind" of the Franciscan movement, envisioned God as an "infinite sphere whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere," a "Fountain of Love" constantly flowing through all things, giving life, energy, and purpose to the universe.Complementing these Franciscan insights, Alfred North Whitehead's process philosophy offers a dynamic vision of a value-laden, interdependent universe where "God is in all things. All things in God". Whitehead describes God as the "fellow sufferer who understands" and the "joyful companion who celebrates," whose power is persuasive, not coercive, inspiring creation towards the "production of beauty". His "Galilean vision" of Christianity champions humility and love over dominating power, advocating for a "democracy of revelation" where all creatures are touched by God and deserve respect.Healing the World is an invitation to readers to become "saints in the making," embracing "holy simplicity" and "world loyalty" to address contemporary challenges. Each chapter is enriched with spiritual practices> that translate these profound theological and philosophical concepts into actionable steps for personal and political life, fostering peace, ecojustice, and a deeper connection with the divine presence in ourselves and the world. Epperly's work ultimately aims to inspire us to be "earth healers," partnering with God to advance the moral and spiritual arcs of history toward a "Beloved Community".The book is a testament to the enduring relevance of these visionaries in our time.
What Happens When You're Generous
Generosity all starts with our hearts. My heart was born selfish. Don't judge. So was yours. It's in our nature. But God's nature is generous. He is a giver. His desire is for us to become more like him. But he knows our hearts are deeply connected to our money and our possessions. Money is personal. We spend so much time, effort, and energy trying to make it, spend it, save it, invest it... and hopefully give it. The way we handle it defines our character. This book shares the supernatural things that begin to happen in us, through us, and around us when generosity becomes a lifestyle. It changes everything.

From Sinai to Rome
Can you be a Jewish Catholic? At first glance, the idea could seem scandalous. Catholics affirm that Jesus is the Messiah; Jews do not. Jews hold that the Torah's precepts should be diligently kept; Catholic Christians hold that Christ has fulfilled the law. Can they really be reconciled?Yet Jesus, a Jew, tells us that "salvation comes from the Jews" (Jn 4:22). Pope Pius XII once remarked, "Spiritually, we [Catholics] are all Semites." In a sense, Christians are Jews by adoption, as Saint Paul writes to the Romans. Since the days of Peter and Paul, the Church has struggled to understand her close yet complex relationship with the people from whom she came, at times stressing stark differences, at times treasuring their close brotherhood. This essential collection by Professors Angela Costley and Gavin D'Costa examines the question of Jewish-Catholic relations from every angle. With contributions from some of the Church's greatest theological minds--Scott Hahn, Brant Pitre, Bruce Marshall, Roy Schoeman, Robert Fastiggi, Lawrence Feingold, Fr. Antoine Levy, and Fr. David Neuhaus--From Sinai to Rome probes the possibility of Hebrew Catholicism, which nurtures its Old Covenant roots from within the Church. This book refuses to shy away from historical knots in Catholic and Jewish relations, but seeks to understand them thoroughly, in the context of the sacred Catholic tradition. This timely volume gives intellectual grounds for the hope that Jews might find their true homeland in Christ, with the holy Church that he himself founded. KEY POINTSA rigorous study of the rich relationship between Judaism and CatholicismAn in-depth account of the Church's Old Testament rootsAn honest, focused summary of the Church's complex history with Jewish practiceA robust exploration, Th of a possible Hebrew liturgical rite within the Church

Among the many writings of St. Alphonsus Liguori, his collection of meditations and teachings on the Seven Sorrows (or Dolors) of Our Lady are among the most insightful and most moving. As in all of his writings, these meditations incorporate a synopsis of the teachings of the great Saints on the topic of Our Lady's sorrows.Following three short introductions to the general topic of devotion to the Mother of God, this book contains the sermon, or Discourse, which St. Alphonsus wrote on the topic of her Sorrows, followed by lengthy meditations on each of the Seven Sorrows. This compilation also includes: -St. Alphonsus' little Rosary, or Chaplet, of the Seven Dolors of Mary-St. Alphonsus' teaching on the power that Our Lady wields to protect us against the devil's temptations-An explanation of the two Sacramentals, little known today, established in honor of Our Lady's Sorrows, and-A collection of prayers to Our Lady, curated by St. Alphonsus, from some of the great Saints in the history of the Church. Our Lord has revealed to many Saints how much He values, and rewards, the love and compassion we have for His Mother and her Sorrows. Every reader of this book will come away with an indelible awareness of the unfathomable depth of the love she held for her Divine Son, which will serve as the basis for a renewed devotion to Our Lady and, in following her example, to Our Lord Himself.St. Alphonsus Liguori (1696 - 1787), was a zealous missionary, exemplary bishop, miracle worker, and prolific writer whose praises were sung by the whole Church during his life and after his death. Following his departure from this world, the Pope was inundated with requests to list St. Alphonsus Liguori among the great Doctors of the Church, an honor which his writings, capturing the hearts of all who take hold of them, testify he is worthy.

When we understand how scripture defines worship, we easily avoid disagreements and misunderstandings.Worship is like a building with - a cornerstone- a six-part foundation- strong walls (conditions and activities labelled as worship in scripture)- a roof (to link all aspects of worship)We use one word, worship, to describe church music, but scripture uses nine additional words defined in this book. This book's careful use of scripture moves the reader to become the true worshiper God seeks (John 4:23).

A Heavy Yoke
What we believe about God becomes the basis for how we think about ourselves, as leaders and individuals, and how by extension, we think about and treat others. But the relationship between doctrine, practice and power is not always straightforward. The Christian call to humility when applied to people of global majority heritage or those living with disabilities, can simply add to their marginalisation. Servant-leader language has often been tarnished by the many leaders who adopt this as a mantra despite abusing their power in practice. In A Heavy Yoke, Selina Stone lifts the lid on the ways Christian theology can, often unwittingly, uphold existing power structures to the detriment of the flourishing of the whole church. Engaging and timely, the book calls for a more rigorous and critical understanding of Christian theology and how it is shaping Christian leaders, churches and organisations.
The Origin of Life
The awesomeness of God is here displayed, His omnipotence and omniscience. His power over the environment and people and nations is revealed throughout the Bible which tells us that He is well able to correct the problem of global warming, for the Bible also tells us that the earth still has life in it but first man must acknowledge Him as its creator and give Him the honour due to His name. Genesis also tells us about the lives of those that believed in God and how He got involved in their lives, particularly Joseph who was put through some harsh training before he was promoted to being second only to the Egyptian Pharaoh. Genesis tells us that God is entirely spiritual, for in the beginning only He existed in infinite space which meant that He was and is omnipresent. He did not need to create the world and universe, but He did so because He wanted to love someone else. He created man as the pinnacle of His creation with love and breathed into man's nostrils the breath of His Spirit so that man also had spirit within him so that God could communicate with him.
The Summa Illuminated
"This book is the ordinary reader's clearest introduction to the Summa Theologica. It illuminates the obscure and enlivens the dispassionate arguments of St. Thomas Aquinas. Everyone should be reading St. Thomas, and I can't imagine a better guide than Fr. Cajetan Cuddy."--Scott HahnThe Summa Illuminated offers a clear and concise introduction to one of the most influential theological masterpieces in history: the Summa Theologica by St. Thomas Aquinas (c. 1225-1274). As interest in Aquinas's teachings continues to grow, many are especially drawn to his Summa Theologica--yet navigating its profound depth and intricate complexity can feel overwhelming without proper guidance. In The Summa Illuminated, Fr. Cajetan Cuddy, OP, premier expert on both the Summa and the philosophy and theology of St. Thomas Aquinas, provides readers with a concise and approachable overview. This book serves as a guided tour of the Summa, carefully laying out its structure, explaining its key concepts, and clarifying Aquinas's overarching purpose. Following the structure of the Summa itself, this book captures the significance of each part and illustrates how they form a unified whole while explaining the terminology and principles that Aquinas presupposed his audience to possess.Fr. Cuddy guides the reader through the significant themes of the Summa's three parts: Part I: God and CreationPart II: The Human Person's Movement to God--Law, Grace, and VirtuesPart III: Jesus Christ and the SacramentsThe Summa Illuminated equips readers with the essential knowledge to confidently engage with Aquinas's great work. By the end, readers will have a firm grasp of the most important ideas in the greatest theological text of the Catholic intellectual tradition..

Our Father in Heaven
Prayer is a vital lifeline for the church worldwide. Prayer can be vibrant and sincere, and yet fail to align with the teachings of Christ. In this book, William Massaquoi presents biblical teaching on prayer that is rooted in an African context. Returning to the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples, Massaquoi demonstrates that the Lord's Prayer is not just a beautiful piece of liturgy, but also offers practical guidelines for believers in how and what to pray - guidelines that are still relevant today. Each chapter expounds upon a section of the Lord's Prayer, bridging the gap between understanding and practice through an explanation of the text and a discussion of how it is practically applied. Massaquoi reminds us that prayer is essential for renewal, growth, and the advancement of the kingdom, but deepening our prayer lives requires more than commitment to the act itself - it requires understanding and obedience.

Blessed Hour of Prayer
Next to the Bible, nothing has shaped our faith as Christians more than the hymns we sing. At any time of any day, the words of a gospel song or hymn can enter our minds, bringing reflection, challenge, and joy. This book invites readers to experience daily the words of the most prolific hymn writer in history, Fanny J. Crosby. The introduction gives a brief biography of Crosby and sets her hymns in context. Reflecting each day on one of her over 8,000 hymns and on the biblical verses that inspired them will lead readers into a deeper experience of the Jesus they long to see.Endorsement: Only a hymn writer as prolific as Fanny Crosby could have enough material to inspire 365 daily meditations. And only a true hymn lover could curate her offerings so skillfully into this wonderful devotional guide. Gary Holloway has crafted thoughtful reflections on Crosby's best known hymns while also spotlighting wonderful, lesser known gems. The Stepping Stones of Spiritual Maturity
The Stepping Stones of Spiritual Maturity explores our transformation when we bring our true selves before our Creator and the freedom resulting from choosing God's way. Interwoven with her own transformation story, author Angela Guy looks at how the Sermon on the Mount relates to and deepens the Beatitudes by describing them both as a cross-shaped path toward God's heart, and stepping stones to cross before we can continue along the path. Guy also explores the difference between who we are, compared to a righteous God in whom we learn to abide, and shows how our identity and worth are found in Jesus alone.Endorsement: Angie takes the richness found in God's Word and weaves a beautiful tapestry focused on the Sermon on the Mount. As she unravels these verses, she directs our attention to many valuable cross references and provides deeper understanding for the reader. I appreciate Angie's vulnerability, authentic heart, and her willingness to share the real struggles she has faced in her relationship with the Lord. She invites readers to search their own hearts. These pages have drawn me into a time of reflection, evaluation, and worship before the Lord. I urge readers to ask the Lord how to apply these vital truths in their own hearts and lives.─Brenda McCord, Walk with God, podcast co-hostPrepare to be challenged because Angela asks the hard questions. Her direct approach cuts a path just wide enough to guide the reader to a place of understanding, with the intent to induce reflection and soul-searching depth. Twelve Churches
Karen Armstrong meets Pico Iyer in this sweeping history of Christianity that visits a dozen places of worship on every inhabited continent to tell their often wild stories and examine their sometimes difficult legacies. Christianity is the largest religion in the US with upwards of 200 million people, and its churches often possess an allure and beauty that fascinate even the most committed atheist. What fascinates Fergus Butler-Gallie is that each place of worship tells a story--of place, time, and most of all, people. It is in these sanctuaries that the complexities of life from birth and death to power, sex, violence, justice, and beauty are encapsulated, and here, in Twelve Churches, Butler-Gallie takes us on a fascinating journey through time to unravel the story of Christianity as told by the people who have lived it on every inhabited continent. Beginning with the birth of Christ over 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem at the location marked by the Church of the Nativity--a confusing warren of a building--Butler-Gallie leads us to a remote stone outcrop in Mount Athos, Greece, where the monastic vow of celibacy is taken to an optimistic extreme by excluding all female animals. We learn that at Canterbury Cathedral, the stones have been soaked in blood that is both famous and infamous. On the coast of Japan, a cave like church marks the spot where Christian martyrs were tied to crosses at low tide--and left there. The 16th Street Church in Birmingham, Alabama, remains the site of one of the Ku Klux Klan's most infamous bombings, and the meeting house in Salem, Massachusetts, remains a monument to the ways that a quest for purity can lead to mass murder. And in Nigeria we visit a church the size of an airplane hangar, where every Sunday it fills almost every one of its 50,000 seats. An engaging blend of history, geography, travel, biography, spiritual reflection, and a wry sense of humor, Butler-Gallie shows us that despite its complexities and controversy, such a faith is still worth following, and that by acknowledging the past we can ultimately discover the path toward healing and hope.
