Because we are created in the image of God and Jesus is divine, the church struggles to define Jesus. In a literary sense, the implication is that the Apostle Paul is the father of the New Testament. Paul only knew the Risen Christ and, for him, the divinity of Christ was obvious. By contrast, the Gospels that record the humanity of Christ were written almost a generation later. Thus, the transcendence problem facing postmodern people that fixates on the humanity of Christ is relatively new.My recent book, Image and Illumination (2023), asked the question-What does it mean to be created in the image of God?- focused on Christian anthropology. Embedded in this question is the metaphysical question: Who is God? The New Testament addresses this question with three pictures of God: The person of Jesus, Jesus' teaching about God the Father in the parables, and the founding of the church on Pentecost by the Holy Spirit. Uncovering and Recognising Awareness
We have our own unique way to realise who we are, what our purpose is and how to find happiness. The question of 'Who we are inside' or 'Who am I' does not seem important to those who appear to have found happiness in the external world. Because they feel happy, they have no interest in searching further. The question of 'who am I' usually only comes to those who have suffered and who know the answer to finding happiness is somewhere inside. In trying to answer this question of 'who am I, ' first we have to ask and find out 'what we are not.' Eventually we see 'what we are not' is simply our thoughts, our ego. With determined questioning of 'Who' is asking, we may uncover and recognise ourself without thoughts, and see only one thing is left . . . our awareness of our true Self. Blissful though this may be for a time, this state of awareness is only temporary because our thoughts, our ego does not give up trying to hide the true inner Self we have seen and are now intermittently aware of. With continuing effort, uncovering who we are becomes present more of the time during our daily living. The experience of time without thoughts, of just awareness of being, becomes more frequent.

Mysticism in the Reformation, Part I of Volume 6 of The Presence of God Series, is the first full account of the role of the mystical element of Christianity in the Reformers who broke with Rome in the period 1500-1650. Although some modern Protestant theologians tried to distance the Reformation from any contact with mysticism, recent scholarship, by both Protestants and Catholics, has shown that Protestant mysticism is an important part of the heritage of the Reformation. After an "Introduction" surveying modern disputes about the nature of the Reformation and the Catholic reaction to it (both Catholic Reform and Counter-Reformation), Chapter One deals with how the pioneering Reformers Martin Luther and John Calvin reacted to the heritage of Christian mysticism, concentrating on Luther's complicated relation to mystical traditions. Chapter Two turns to the role of mysticism in select "Radical Reformers" of the sixteenth century, who created models of interior mystical religion that continued to have an effect over the centuries. Chapter Three analyzes the writings of the two most famous Lutheran mystics of the early seventeenth century, Johann Arndt and Jacob Boehme, whose impact in later Western religious traditions has been both powerful and controversial. My main interesting is to help them understand the Word of God and apply it to their own life with God's help. It also gives us the need to be encouragement, help and inspire in the Word of God and that the Word of God is for us to receive His Word by faith. Salvation is a gift from God to us and to those you receive Him. God's Word is very real from Old Testament to New Testament; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit become as one and that God is truly One. We are God's children; born-again; born of the Spirit; washed in His Own Blood to gather us to eternity in glory to live with Him for ever more. Is that too hard? God said: Nothing is too hard.
