However, I really want to tell everyone my story, from the time I was born till today when I am enjoying my life as a thirty-eight-year-old woman living with my adoptive parents, Peter and Angela, in Mareeba, in Far North Queensland, Australia.I have Down's Syndrome, with some intellectual and physical disabilities (especially problems with my heart) which have been present since I was born ... but this hasn't stopped me at all from living a very full and rich life, filled with much love, joy and laughter--and with lots of adventures. While I do have some disabilities, I have many more abilities. I am looking forward to telling you about some of these. My story doesn't totally belong to me. Above everything else, my life, my story, is about the constant, unconditional love and wonderful care my parents, our extended families, and my friends, have given me over the years. Without this, there wouldn't be much of a story to tell. I dearly love my family and my friends. I think I might have mentioned this more than a few times in this book! My heartfelt love for them is an integral part of my life story and how I have affected, and changed, those who are closest to me.Today, I am very happy being who I am and am looking forward to seeing what the future holds. The Unique Cut Diamond
I grew up with a learning disability, in addition to the trauma from the emotional and physical abuse carried out by my own mother and family members. The hands that were supposed to protect me as a child were the same hands responsible for my suffering, hurt and pain. I had such anger and hate toward my mother for everything she did to me. My life was complex from day one. My pain fuelled my rage, and my rage came out in fights. If I wasn't in a fight, I was starting one. Programs and counselling never helped me because I wasn't ready to heal. I did what I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it. Being exposed to the justice system at a young age, I saw the police in my home way too often. How could a mother do something like this to her own child and not care? My father was a case by himself. Where was he anyway? A caged bird is how I used to describe myself but ironically, at other times, I felt like a superhero for my brothers and sisters. Maybe it was all the chores I had to do that made me feel invincible. But still, I was a confused child, and feelings of doubt and neglect often plagued my mind. That said, if there was one thing I knew for certain, it was the fact that I would never be like my mother. I may have been a product of my mother, but who she was didn't make me who I am today. And it never could.

A Kids Life
This book is a collection of short stories, mostly in rhyme. The stories are all stand alone, so they don't necessarily have to be read in order. Their target is the 4-8 years old group. The kids that are either just about to start reading, or the beginner readers. Most of the stories are meant to teach a subtle lesson, from don't be a bully to good sportsmanship to sometimes the right decision is a hard thing to teaching that kids in wheelchair are just like everyone else. There is a story with purposely misspelled words, to encourage kids to pick out the wrong words, and a story about how fun a dog can be. All the stories are positive and have a complete ending.
