The book elucidates real-life adoption experiences through the voices of adoptive families and adult adoptees as they share their moments of joy, sadness, challenges, pain, fulfilment and much more. It touches upon grief and loss and the stark realities of adoption. Perfect! A Day in the Life of Ricky Rabbit
Ricky Rabbit is what some people may call a "perfectionist" - someone who likes things to be "just right". He gets frustrated when life doesn't always work out the way he wants it to work out. He has trouble sleeping and is stewing about his day when he is visited by his inner wisdom in the form of Twinkle, a star that illuminates paths (choices) and allows him to see things in a new light. Tips for Parents/Grown-ups are included to help children (and possibly themselves) who show some characteristics of wanting things to be "just right." For those who are familiar with the Enneagram, this is the book series to introduce children to the 9 types of the Enneagram. Although they are too young to be "typed" yet, adults will see characteristics of the types in their children and can help them to cope with the difficulties they may encounter.

Andrew's Awesome Adventures with His ADHD Brain
Change what you think you know about ADHD. In this two-part book, Andrew, a child with inattentive-type ADHD, and his mom, Kristin Wilcox, Ph.D., each tell their story about living with the inattentive subtype of ADHD. How do you survive life and middle school with an ADHD elephant in your brain? Kids with ADHD will relate to Andrew's reactions to everyday and school-related situations, like remembering to turn in homework, staying organized, and making friends. Using practical strategies Andrew learns to manage his ADHD even when his brain sometimes feels "like and overstuffed garbage can, the lid won't stay on and garbage is falling out all over the floor". He even realizes there is a positive side to having ADHD like creativity, fearlessness and hyperfocus. Dr. Wilcox's unique perspective as both a mother and a researcher allow her to discuss, parent to parent, the science behind ADHD from someone living in the trenches, learning to work with Andrew's ADHD brain. Kristin discusses the significance of various aspects of ADHD and the theory and practices of the education and medical professions related to them, distinguishing inattentive-type ADHD from other subtypes. Two helpful appendices include a means for parents to "diagnose" the inattentive subtype of ADHD and a list of resources for parents and children with ADHD. This book provides unique insights into ADHD behaviors and suggests highly pragmatic and successfully implemented strategies for children with the inattentive subtype of ADHD and their parents (with implications for educators and others who work with children with ADHD). A must read for kids with ADHD and their parents!

Family Group Conferencing - Process & Practice
This book is a professional text focusing on the role and practice of Family Group Conferencing in human services. It provides a detailed understanding of Family Group Conferences to a wide audience of readers, including agencies, caseworkers, professionals and, importantly, facilitators of Family Group Conferences. The author will argue that when working with children, young people and their families, a practice environment must be created that shifts from assessment and investigation to one that encourages a culture of genuine engagement and helping. The book rests on the premises that families are capable of finding solutions that incorporate safety, and that the cornerstone of wellbeing is having a sense of family and belonging. The flexible framework of FGC and its limitless adaptability tor cultural and unique definitions of family will be emphasised. The origin, theoretical underpinnings and current research in Family Group Conferencing is highlighted, as is the importance of model fidelity. Scenarios and case studies are used to identify strengths, gaps and needs with a view to improving policy, practice, training, supervision and services where children, your people and families are at the centre.

The Disease Called Perfection
In September 2010, I wrote and published a blog post that would forever alter the direction of my life and the lives of many others.Millions of people read The Disease Called "Perfection," and at the end of the piece, I made the following request to others: "tell us all just how perfect you aren't. "Thousands of heart-melting, inspiring, heavy, and real responses came pouring in on its pages. To follow the discussion was enough to make anyone cry and laugh repeatedly. And, as you can probably imagine, sifting through so many comments became too heavy a task for most people, and many of the incredible comments got buried without being read at all. For that reason, I teamed up with my friend Faith McCausland to bring you this book, which I hope is a perfect mixture of the now more than 5,000 comments that have been made on that post. I've also included a new chapter on the topic as a whole, the original blog post, and the one year follow-up discussion that I published on my blog. More than anything, I wanted a way for those who read it to be able to experience the discussion the way so many of us did from the beginning. In a beautiful, touching, and thought provoking way. I think this book gives every reader the opportunity to do that.

What Is Heaven Like?
It's a question that Christians have been asking for thousands of years: What is heaven like? Follow Jesse, a six-year-old boy, as he talks to his dad about what they can expect in heaven in this heartfelt story told in the tradition of The Great Divorce, a classic allegorical tale by C.S. Lewis about a bus ride from hell to heaven. Richard R Eng shares fresh metaphors and vivid illustrations to guide parents and children to a Biblical and beautiful theology of heaven. The author wrote this book after he and his wife faced an unexpected pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage. They were going to name their unborn child Jesse, and this tale is an imaginative conversation between the author and the boy his unborn baby might have become. In it, he tells his son that heaven is more than just not having bad things. "It will be filled with all goodness," he says. Join the author as he explores the nature of life and death as well as the true meaning of salvation.

The Panic Years
Renowned journalist Nell Frizzell explores what happens when a woman begins to ask herself: should I have a baby? We have descriptors for many periods of life--adolescence, menopause, mid-life crisis, quarter-life crisis--but there is a period of profound change that many women face, often in their late twenties to early forties, that does not yet have a name. Nell Frizzell is calling this period of flux "the panic years," and it is often characterized by a preoccupation with one major question: should I have a baby? And from there--do I want a baby? With whom should I have a baby? How will I know when I'm ready? Decisions made during this period suddenly take on more weight, as questions of love, career, friendship, fertility, and family clash together while peers begin the process of coupling and breeding. But this very important process is rarely written or talked about beyond the clich矇s of the "ticking clock." Enter Frizzell, our comforting guide, who uses personal stories from her own experiences in the panic years to illuminate the larger social and cultural trends, and gives voice to the uncertainty, confusion, and urgency that tends to characterize this time of life. Frizzell reminds us that we are not alone in this, and encourages us to share our experiences and those of the women around us--as she does with honesty and vulnerability in these pages. Raw and hilarious, The Panic Years is an arm around the shoulder for every woman trying to navigate life's big decisions against the backdrop of the mother of all questions.

This collection of nearly ten years of internal monologues, rants, and word association football is my paean to playing stay-at-home Dad. My wife trusted me to raise our two young daughters, and my publisher allowed me free rein to edit his nascent literary magazine. So here you are: one father's exploration of writing, editing, words, and the pure confusing joy of hanging out with his children.
