Happy Anniversary Clock's
The most comprehensive Anniversary Clock / 400-Day Repair Book. 2022 edition, 227 [printed] pages. Hundreds of photos and diagrams.* Do you own a clock that is special to you that has stopped working, perhaps a gift or a family heirloom? This book is for you.* Do you like to tinker with mechanical things? This book is for you.* Have you taken a clock apart but can't get it back together? This book is for you.* Are you fascinated with clocks, have several you have bought but do not work? This book is for you. Many times, the problem is simple to correct. Be bold. Take on your project. This book will hold your hand every step of the way and guide you to success. YOU CAN DO IT.Why does an Anniversary Clock stop Working? Most likely, it is because the suspension spring is broken. I will teach you how to replace it.Often, the works are dirty, need oiling, or most likely both. When the clock stops, think of it as "the oil light is on." It's a "cry for help." Without oil, the metal parts grind on each other, causing severe wear and damage. Oil also attracts dust, making the oil "gummy" and adding drag to its operation until it can no longer overcome the friction. If a clock is oiled regularly [every three to five years], chances are you will only ever need to re-oil your clock. If the clock is allowed to run until it stops, the only sure way to service it is to remove the works from its case, dismantle the parts, clean, service, and put the movement back together with fresh oil and correct adjustment.

Texas on Stamps
From explorer Cabeza de Vaca, who was shipwrecked on Galveston Island in 1528, to singer Willie Nelson and baseball superstar Nolan Ryan, Texas history, the people who made it, and the places it was made come alive on postage stamps. In over a hundred entries, Texas on Stamps displays stamps from the United States and foreign countries; the stamps are accompanied by explanatory text. First issued in May 1840, postage stamps soon became collectibles. Until about 1900, most portrayed reigning monarchs or, in this country, former presidents. Then pictorials were introduced featuring events, places, animals, any subject of national significance. Rather than collecting stamps by countries, some philatelists began topical or thematic collections. Published in the year of the Texas Philatelic Association's centennial, Texas on Stamps offers an unusual way to look at Texas history and a guide for topical collectors.
Mountain Walk Versus Forrest Fenn
Mountain Walk Versus Forrest Fenn was written to support a unique idea and to defend the legacy of a generous and noble friend. Forest Fenn devised a treasure hunt in which he hid a fortune in gold and jewelry in the Rocky Mountains. He peppered clues throughout his book, The Thrill of the Chase: A Memoir, as to its location and declared the finder could keep the treasure. The purpose was to get people outside, and to share the things and experiences that made his own life interesting and fulfilling. The treasure was discovered in June 2020, shortly before Forest Fenn and his wife of sixty years passed. A decision by Fenn and the finder to not disclose the site left many of the thousands who searched for his treasure dissatisfied-some caustically so. For them, the game was a hoax, a scam, and unfair. Legal suits were brought against the Fenn estate, the finder, and other tangentially involved individuals. Books and articles were written with no purpose other than destroying Fenn's legacy."Mountain Walk," a blog to help interpret the clues and keep treasure hunters out of trouble argued the only way to stop the nonsense was to find the hiding site using nothing but the clues given in Fenn's memoir, The Thrill of the Chase. The author takes the reader through that mental exercise with the caveat that at this point, only the finder really knows the site's location.
Modern Canadian Doubled Die Varieties - First Edition
The First Edition of Modern Canadian Doubled Die Varieties is a comprehensive catalogue written by John O'Connor, a numismatist from Kawartha Lakes Ontario. In late 2018 after conversing with like-minded experts and collectors regarding the lack of publications, research, or documentation for this type of die variety, John decided to take on the task of documenting, finding, and occasionally making new discoveries of doubled dies on Canadian coins intended for circulation and proof-like sets. Inside the first edition, readers will find detailed images of how these types of die varieties can occur during a process known as hubbing while also showing the differences between common forms of worthless doubling and genuine doubled die varieties. There are 57 detailed listings with price charts, mintage reports, compositions, weights, and over 100 colored images to use for comparison purposes while searching for these oftentimes scarce varieties. Additionally, there is an extensive reference list containing 173 doubled die listings across all seven denominations of Canadian coins with some information cited from well-known collectors, experts, and websites that have given the author proper written permission to reference individual listings, listing numbers, websites, images, coin community forum posts, and written information so that collectors new and experienced can have access to presumably the largest Canadian doubled die reference list to date.Includes 57 Detailed Listings for: 1 Cent - from 1941 to 20085 Cents - from 1965 to 202010 Cents - from 1951 to 20121 Dollar - from 2012 to 20222 Dollars - for 2012Includes 173 Detailed Reference Listings for: 1 Cent - from 1941 to 20085 Cents - from 1947 to 202010 Cents - from 1951 to 201225 Cents - from 1953 to 197250 Cents - from 1943 to 19961 Dollar - from 1945 to 20222 Dollars - from 2011 to 2021

Cartier and Islamic Art
Louis Cartier (1875-1942), the grandson of Cartier founder Louis-Fran癟ois, was an impassioned collector and patron of the arts. He was particularly entranced by Islamic arts, especially Persian book arts: their geometric shapes, color combinations, and motifs are apparent in Cartier jewelry to this day. Louis's younger brother Jacques--an expert in precious stones--traveled to India and the Persian Gulf in 1911 and 1912 to experience the culture and bring home treasures of the Middle East: natural pearls. This was the pivotal moment when the dialogue between these two worlds opened up, eventually blossoming into a beautiful relationship that has lasted for decades.Published to accompany a major exhibition at the Mus矇e des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the Dallas Museum of Art, Cartier and Islamic Arts delves into the Cartier archives to trace the story of Louis Cartier's love of Islamic art and the ways in which he incorporated the Islamic world's stylized motifs into Cartier's jewelry. Dazzling photographs are accompanied by in-depth texts from a raft of distinguished scholars of both Islam and the decorative arts.

Nature
Nature is a book-length essay written by Ralph Waldo Emerson, published by James Munroe and Company in 1836.[1] In the essay Emerson put forth the foundation of transcendentalism, a belief system that espouses a non-traditional appreciation of nature.[2] Transcendentalism suggests that the divine, or God, suffuses nature, and suggests that reality can be understood by studying nature.[3] Emerson's visit to the Mus矇um National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris inspired a set of lectures he later delivered in Boston which were then published.Within the essay, Emerson divides nature into four usages: Commodity, Beauty, Language and Discipline. These distinctions define the ways by which humans use nature for their basic needs, their desire for delight, their communication with one another and their understanding of the world.[4] Emerson followed the success of Nature with a speech, "The American Scholar", which together with his previous lectures laid the foundation for transcendentalism and his literary career.

Ramciel Magazine Fourth Edition
Publisher's Note According to world politics South Sudan exists as a nation. For example, our flag flies in front of the United Nations headquarters along with those of 192 other countries. If you use Google or some other search engine, you can learn that Juba is South Sudan's capital and that our motherland is composed of ten states. There it is, the reality we call South Sudan. But is South Sudan really a nation, or is it an accident of British Empire building and a European notion of geography? Let's start with Juba. Were you going to pick the location of a capital for our country, would it not be better to be in the north, closer to the center of the nation? The British were not interested in founding a capital for what was eventually to become our motherland; they wanted to control the White Nile. But to this day, there are many who say that a new capital should be built - Ramciel. Beyond the location of Juba, what do states have to do with our country? We are a nation of tribal identities not geographic locations. By basing our government elections on geography, the constitution gives the larger tribes disproportionate power in decision-making and it deprives us of what should be an emphasis on shared values and faiths. In this issue Ramciel is proud to begin a dialog about the role of traditional tribal structures and beliefs with our interview of Sultana Abuk Macham Angui. In the future, we need to encourage more discussion among tribal leaders and religious figures to find those values and beliefs that will highlight our peoples and our traditions. One of the best South Sudanese traditions is our love of music and dance. Even though we may not all sing in the same language or dance the same steps, we can share and enjoy one with the other. One of the most popular musicians among us-both those of us at home and those living in the Diaspora-is Achuei Deng Ajing. Miss Achuei recently toured the United States and brought a touch of home to those of us living in America. As publisher of Ramciel I am delighted to share our interview with Achuei Deng Ajing. While music has always been an integral part of life for South Sudanese, the same cannot be said of team sports such as basketball and football. In recent years such sports have been a major conduit for others to hear of our country and many of our athletes have become celebrities at home. Ramciel is committed to helping spread that rightful pride in our athletes. That's why we try to publish so many photos of athletes and others who deserve attention and praise. There is something else that should be bringing us together as a nation: floods. Water is an integral part of our nation's existence. The word Sudan comes from the Arabic sudd, which means swamp or marsh. Our marshland is important and the tribes who live in those marshes bring important qualities to our national character. However, flooding is destructive and water can be dangerous. As a nation, we need to discuss how to handle the water of our country. This subject is especially important when we recognize that climate change models suggest that South Sudan will become wetter in coming years. With the question, "Will water be our resource or our destroyer?" in mind, I am particularly pleased that this issue of Ramciel includes an interview with hydrologist Dr. Tag Elhazine. Those of us who are part of the South Sudanese community-be we in Juba, in the hinterlands, or in the Diaspora-need to focus on our motherland as a whole. We must not allow the old thinking of London, or even that of Washington, tell us how to be a country. Instead, we must find our common cause, our shared pride, and our unique way forward. Sawdust in Your Pockets
During the twentieth century, three industries--tobacco, textiles, and furniture--dominated the economy of North Carolina. The first two are well known and documented, being the subject of numerous books, movies, and articles. In contrast, the furniture industry has been mostly ignored by historians, although, at its height, it was nearly as large and influential as these other two concerns. Furniture companies employed thousands of workers and shaped towns, culture, and local life from Hickory to Goldsboro. Sawdust in Your Pockets: A History of the North Carolina Furniture Industry is the first survey of the state's furniture industry from its cabinetmaking beginnings to its digital present. Historian Eric Medlin shows how the industry transitioned from high-quality, individual pieces to the affordable, mass-produced furniture of High Point and Thomasville factories in the late nineteenth century. He then traces the rise of the industry to its midcentury peak, when North Carolina became the largest furniture-producing state in the country. Medlin discusses how competition, consolidation, and globalization challenged the furniture industry in the late twentieth century and how its businesses, workers, and professionals have adapted and evolved to this day.

The Representation of Science and Scientists on Postage Stamps
The Representation of Science and Scientists on Postage Stamps examines how the postal authorities of the world have developed unique techniques to portray science and scientists in order to convey a message behind the stamp issue. It is a multi-disciplinary examination that investigates visual representation, semiotics, science, science history and politics, amongst other issues. The author introduces and describes a technique for looking at how and why images may have been chosen. Is the image a mirror reflecting a known reality or is it a lens to challenge, to prompt further thought or action? He also hypothesises that the Internet created a real change to science communication, influencing the way images of science were used. The stamp message changed from that of pursuing a public understanding approach to an awareness of science with its increasing contextual content.

A City on the River
The stoneware manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut in the nineteenth century is a well-known subject today, which served a larger area than just the local marketplace, utilizing the Connecticut River for transportation. In fact, some of the stoneware was inspired by the industry in New York City. Although, it was red earthenware that was actually the original type of household pottery produced in the area, dating as early as the 1700s, where some of the early wares may have been influenced by production in Massachusetts. In some years, thousands of pieces of red earthenware were produced, utilizing the local clays, resulting in a wide range of accomplished wares, some of which were embellished with dramatic styles of hand-applied slip decoration. The most famous of the potters were the Seymours, the Goodwins and Hervey Brooks, but there were other potters as well. This book is the first of its kind to take an in-depth look at the various types of wares manufactured in the Hartford area, as well as the variety of domestic red earthenware artifacts recovered along the Connecticut River within eighteenth and nineteenth century archaeological contexts.
