Secret Rovers
In the late 1960s, the old Rover Company put everything it knew into a complex luxury saloon codenamed P8. At the same time, it planned to branch out into a new sector of the market with a stunningly advanced mid-engined sports car prototype that became a formal project with the codename of P9. However, with the forced merger into British Leyland in 1968, Rover found itself squeezed between Triumph and Jaguar: neither marque welcomed the new sports car, and Jaguar particularly did not welcome the new luxury saloon. Little by little, Rover's plans were undermined, and in 1970 the sports car was killed off, followed by the luxury saloon, which was axed in 1971, a mere six months before production was due to start. Just a year later, Rover itself ceased to exist as a separate business after a forced merger with Triumph.

SAAB Cars 1949 to 2011
More than a dozen years after the last cars rolled off the production lines in Trollh瓣ttan, Saab still commands a keen following among car enthusiasts around the world. During the 60 years of its existence, Saab became renowned for the aerodynamic design, technical innovation and sturdy construction of its cars, which famously appealed to individualists and creative thinkers.This handy full-colour guide covers the complete history of Saab's cars. British Atlantic Express Tender Locomotives
The British Atlantic locomotive flourished in the first decade of the nineteenth century especially on the relatively level stretches of the East Coast mainline. This book describes the design, construction, history, operation and performance of the Great Northern, Great Central, North Eastern and North British Atlantics and the London Brighton & South Coast engines that were developed from the GN design. More unusual were the Lancashire & Yorkshire 'Highflyers' which were some of the earliest and also included are the most powerful of all, Churchward's Great Western Atlantics (converted to 4-6-0s later) and his three French Compounds. Most had been replaced by 4-6-0 and 4-6-2 designs by the 1920s and were withdrawn before the Second World War, though a few lingered to the post-war period and just reached the era of British Railways, though only the Brighton Atlantics survived longer. The last of all, 32424 Beachy Head, was withdrawn in 1958 and has been recreated for the Heritage industry. The book concludes with a brief look for comparative purposes at some of the most influential Atlantics on the rest of the world's railways.

While both of its predecessors once made use of more colorful hues on their motive power, by the 1970s both roads had turned to black paint, although the Southern also included a horizontal area of off-white in what was termed the "Tuxedo" paint scheme.In 2012, the Norfolk Southern, led by its CEO Charles W. "Wick" Moorman, took to heart the suggestion of a young railroad enthusiast and launched the program that created 20 "Heritage" units, which utilized paint schemes from railroads that had formed the two predecessor roads. While it is true that the V12 engine has always been seen as the most iconic power unit for the road cars - not to mention to the racing models - that have left the factory in Maranello, it is equally true that in the mid-Seventies it was an eight-cylinder car that definitively projected Ferrari towards an industrial dimension. The 308 GTB, which appeared at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, was the model that proved capable of revolutionising the image of the Ferrari berlinettas, an image once again born out of the flair of Leonardo Fioravanti. With its soft yet muscular lines, the 308 took the lead in a long line of GTs from the Cavallino - including the 208 and the 328 - all powered by V8 engines located behind the cockpit and offered with closed and open bodywork, which drove the Maranello marque into the late 1980s, with previously unheard of production figures. Those unforgettable cars, now more than ever sought after by collectors, could hardly be absent from the Supercars series.
MERCEDES-BENZ, The modern SL cars
This 370 page guide covers the history of the four modern SL: the 1971 R107, 1989 R129, 2001 R230 and 2012 R231. It looks at their individual history, engines, facelifts and discusses the AMG versions from the early 500SL 6.0 to the latest SL65. It talks about the designs, special editions and what selected tuners such as Brabus, Renntech or Carlsson had to offer. Complete technical specifications and annual production data of each model can be found towards the end of the book. A few readers have suggested to have each of the four models covered in greater detail. This would have blown up this book to over 800 pages. Given the number of photos included, the price for such a book would have been much too high. But to follow this proposal, the author has decided to give each model more room in individual books. So far the R107, R129 and R230 SL are covered in separate volumes. Published in summer and autumn 2015, they are over 200 pages strong. Each book comes with a comprehensive buyer's guide, explains the VIN and data card in detail and discusses which SL to buy, taking into consideration 2015 second hand prices. The Nebraska Zephyr Story
The Nebraska Zephyr was a streamlined passenger train operated by the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad (CB&Q, commonly known by the shorter name of "Burlington") between Chicago, Illinois; Omaha, Nebraska; and Lincoln, Nebraska, from 1947 to 1971. Until 1968, the service was provided by two Twin Cities Zephyr articulated trainsets - the "Train of the Gods" and "Train of the Goddesses" - that became synonymous with it. The Nebraska Zephyr was one of many trains discontinued when Amtrak began operations in 1971. The "Train of the Goddesses" set is preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois.

How to make a 150-year-old run faster, carry more load and make more money In the year 2000, the Indian Railways - the world's second largest railway network under a single management was nearly bankrupt. Over the next eight years, however, there was a dramatic improvement in its performance. From a cash surplus before dividend of Rs 1,071 crores in 2000, it achieved an estimated Rs 25,000 crores (or around Rs 13,000 crores after accounting for all expenditures, receipts and depreciation) in 2008. Alongside came a dynamic and differential tariff policy, and technical changes that led to an enhanced carrying capacity. How all this was accomplished is the focus of this riveting study of change and innovation in the Indian Railways. Based on an extensive examination of internal documents of the Railways and in-depth interviews with key people involved in the change process, authors V. Nilakant and S.
